Re: SHAKE BLITZ INSIDE 10 yd Line

I didn't say that I can't beat it passing. Like I said earlier, I drove down the field easily. Its when I was inside the 5-10 where everything is tight that I had issues. Whenever I snapped the ball someone was already in the backfield as my rb got the ball. Sometimes the shake blitz out of 155 works even if its not a blitz play. Its a glitch BUT, my question was what running plays could you use where the blocking isn't so screwed up. I could've automotion my rb on flats with stick but I want to know running plays. So far nobody has come up with any.

As far as the hb swing play, I WOULD LOVE for you to explain how you get that to work. Houston uses it all the time in real life but the blocking always fails me in this video game on that play so I abandoned it.

Wait, so the OP was talking about a game he played, and his opponent just so happened to post here? ****

I run that Swing play CONSTANTLY and have been stopped for a loss once. I run it so much, it is an audible that I use every time an opponent stacks the box (it helps that I run 3x1 formations more than any other and user opponents don't catch on).

The biggest key here is that it is a constraint play. It is all part of the numbers game in the box. If the defense either fails to match personnel OR fails to spread the D to the trips side, it is almost an automatic audible to the Swing.

You should make two reads here. The first is whether or not there is a defender head up on each WR to the trips side. If there is, don't run it. Even if the defender assigned to the HB is out of position, one of those 3 defenders outside will beat the block and get you. The second is IF the defense doesn't have defenders head up to each WR, find the safety. If he is shaded to that side of the field or he is walked up within 10 yards of the LOS, he is going to have a pretty good angle to stop it and the WR's NEVER block that safety. I don't really concern myself with linebackers because even if they are assigned man to man on the back, they usually won't be able to catch up with him.

Any time you get 6 or 7 in the box, you should run this. Any time you see the defense in zone, with the extra defender on the backside of the formation and not enough defenders to the play side, you should run this BUT make sure that SS isn't cheating down because he probably has the flat zone and will blow this up.

The biggest threat to this play is a zone blitz with the corner sitting down in flat zone. In that case, you just pray your WR blocks him or you can break the tackle.

As for throwing it. I throw it almost immediately after the HB clears the tackle box, as hard as I possibly can. 9 times out of 10, he catches it on the run and I just read my blocks and go. Occasionally I have to hold it just a half second longer to make sure my back out runs a LB assigned to him in man coverage.

Go to practice mode and get a feel for making the numbers read and the timing of the pass. The blocks will be there if you make the right read. I usually pair this up with a backside slant hot route to the solo WR side, just in case.

WAIT, so his defense was trash and he "wasnt good at all" but he beat you? did I miss something

and I get sick of people complaining about how somebody plays, do you see coaches in real life complaining about another team running the same play or calling the same blitzes, etc. If theres a glitch for it to work im almost CERTAIN theres a way to beat it...your job as a coach is to out scheme and beat the other person...and if your gonna bash somebody then at least beat them before you say they arent good lol

OK sir. Learn to read.
1. The whole point of the thread was to find out schemes to beat this. SPECIFICALLY RUNNING PLAYS. I know how to beat it by passing. I lost by a field goal or something like that because I tried to run it when I got close to the goalline. I stated earlier that I moved the ball at will but then got too conservative. Even he knows that I should've won that game but that glitch worked against my running attempts.

All I asked for is RUNNING PLAYS that people used against this. THANK YOU.

Yeah, he should've won.... but, in the end didn't. It wasn't like he was stopping me either. With 30 seconds left and no timeouts, I managed to drive down the field and kick the game winning field goal. This was after a failed 4th down attempt by the OP inside the 10 yard line. He is upset because I ran the 1-5-5 Nickel and blitzed everybody... while shifting my linebackers back and forth. He chose to run a draw or something right into the blitz instead of a pass to the flats or any of the other suggested ways to easily beat the "shake blitz"
