Re: 1964(and on)Philadelphia Phillies Historical Simulation-OOTP 8

Friday September 18,1964

The Fat Lady Has Entered The Building!
Dodger Stadium,LA,Ca.-Typical of this Dodger team,Sandy Koufax pitches 10 and a thirds innings allows only 5 hits and 2 earned runs while striking out 14 but gets absolutely no run support and no decision. The Dodgers would eventually lose in 13 innings on a Tony Gonzalez RBI single off of Bob Miller. All of this is fantastic news if your a Phillies fan as your teams' magic number is now 6 because not only did the Phils pull out a squeaker 3-2,the Reds were beaten again, this time by St.Louis by the score of 8-6.This puts Cincinnati a whopping 9 games behind the Phillies,it would take a swoon of epic proportions for the Phillies to lose the pennant now. Here's today's box score.

Dodgers Win In 10 Innings 3-2
Dodger Stadium,LA.Ca.-The Dodgers have finally broken the spell that the Phillies have on them, and it took extra innings to do it.The Phils got on the board first in this one scoring on an RBI singles in the third by Danny Cater and in the 4th by Clay Dalrymple giving the Phillies a 2-0 lead. The Dodgers for once fought back, and tied it in the 6th with an RBI double by Derrell Griffith and an RBI single by Wes Parker. The game would remain tied at 2 until the 10th,when with the bases loaded and 0 outs,Derrell Griffith again came through, this time with a game winning single up the middle sending the fans home happy for a change. For the Phils, one good thing did come out of today, the Reds lost again moving the magic # down to 5! Here's the box score.
