No, he used an Arkansas cell phone to call other programs. It's on the phone records retrieved by the freedom of information act a guy sued for.

On December 3, 2006, two phone calls were placed by Nutt to a Raleigh, North
Carolina phone number (919-819-8333) at 10:41 am and 10:43 am.
At 10:49 am, a phone call was placed to Nutt’s agent, Jimmy Sexton.
At 12:39 pm and 12:40 pm, another set of calls were placed to North Carolina
and another to Jimmy Sexton, respectively.
Additional calls were placed to Sexton at 1:43 pm, 2:23 pm, 3:36 pm, 7:45 pm
and 8:09 pm.
At 2:44 pm, Nutt made a phone call to 919-819-8335, in Garner, North Carolina.
On December 5, 2006, Nutt placed a call to a Raleigh, North Carolina phone
number (919-513-7135) at 12:39 pm.
After the call to North Carolina, Nutt called his secretary twice.
At 1:11 pm, he received another call from Raleigh from the cell phone number
919-819-8335. That call lasted one minute.
Nutt called the previous number back three minutes later. That call lasted seven
minutes.
Twenty-seven minutes after that call ended, Nutt’s secretary returned his
previous phone call.
Let is also be noted he rarely used the phone for recruiting. Once it was revealed he was not allowing Malzahn to call plays and was phasing him out I wanted him gone. Even more when I found out all the contents of the cell phone records. I firmly believe Nick Saban would have won the SEC and probably the NC with the talent the 2006 Arkansas team.

Let's not go there man. I agree with you, we got screwed on a couple of calls, but we still gave up long kick returns, allowed Cam newton to run for way too many yards and Tyler Wilson threw a dumb interception. Had our defense stood up then we would have had a reason to complain.

I agree, but the fact that Alabama will have a young first time starter in the game may well even things out. I really feel it will be Bama's depth at DB vs. Arkansas's unending WR corp (Childs, Adams, Wright & Hamilton) and then at the same time trying to stop the run.

A little OT, but I had a stray thought about the Arkansas O vs the Bama D. Put them on the same team and that team would be unbeatable. Saying that, Arkansas's D is no slouch this year. I really feel that Wilson is a smarter QB than Mallett, which will cut those dumb INT's down.

Yeah, I'm being overly optimistic having LSU at the top. We have the talent, especially since we got a decent QB transfer in Zack Mettenberger. But knowing Miles, he'll let Jordan Jefferson lose at least 2 games before he ever seriously considers putting in Mettenberger. He'll probably still have Jarrett Lee 2nd string and let him throw a half a dozen pick 6's as well before resorting to Mettenberger, so if LSU only loses 2 games...

I love Miles as a recruiter, but being the only top tier school in the lush recruiting lands of Louisiana...So yeah, he needs another National Championship...soon, to validate his new contract extension.

Re: SouthEastern Conference Predictions

The same reason why I have Arkansas winning the SEC is why I have Bama not winning it.

Gamebreaking WRs.

Knile Davis won't face a loaded box all season because no Defensive coordinator in the league is going to have the cajones to leave their DBs one on one with Childs, Adams, Wright, and Hamilton. Because of this, I expect Davis to have some huge rushing games.

Trent Richardson, for all of his talent, is going to be facing loaded boxes all season...at least until a "Green" QB can prove he can make the defense pay for bringing their safeties down. As solid as Darius Hanks and Marquis Maze are..and they are very solid SEC caliber WRs..they aren't Julio Jones and they don't exactly strike fear in the hearts of SEC defenses in regards to consistently beating DBs one on one.

If McCarron/Sims can get one of these WRs to become a legit, big time threat outside, then Bama could win the league. But I think their offense will struggle, especially early, as the Bama ground game will be the focus of every defense.
