It's really not an assumption, as I've heard many people spew the same flawed argument re: Les for years now. They flat out tell me that's how they feel. That's more than a fair sample size and while it certianly doesn't account for everyone, and it's perfectly fair to be criticial of Les without going way overboard as most do, in my experience very few are able to make that distinction. If you can give me some alternate reasoning I would love to hear it.

I can't speak for what others think of him. My take on it is the guy's a good coach. He makes what you call "unconventional" decisions at times. I call them low-percentage. Also, I feel like he doesn't exercise good control over clock management at the end of games. At some point, that will catch up with him. That being said, I wouldn't have been pissed if he came to Michigan.

I thought your post was the most elaborate way to say "haterz gonna hate" I've ever seen.

He definitely has had issues with clock management all the sudden the last few years. It wasn't really a problem at all his first 4 years here and Oklahoma State people seem to indicate that it wasn't a problem there either. I'm not really sure what the explanation is but hopefully it's something that will be fixed with a new offensive coordinator. I guess we'll find out.

The unconventional decision stuff, I think it works so much because he has so much confidence in his players, and in turn they have confidence in themselves so they go out and do it. Also he doesn't make those decisions in a reckless way, as they are almost always perfectly timed.

He has his flaws as a coach. He's not as proficient in X's and O's as a Bobby Petrino or a Nick Saban. As of right now I would say he is a very solid coach who is going to have the chance to elevate himself or vice versa the next few years with the talent he's brought in. It will be tough to defend him if LSU loses 3+ games in 2011 and 2012. He needs at least an SEC title and prefferably another NC.

this is kinda what I was implying when I said he was lucky. I have never thought he was a bad coach, he just makes similar mistakes far too often to stay competitive in this conference. Believe me, if the UT game was my only point of reference this would not be an issue. I'm not the type of person to complain when my team doesn't win. The only point I was trying to make is his decision making could ultimately cost him his job.

Les Miles is a better version of Houston Nutt minus the cell hone calls and always looking for a better job. I give Miles all the credit in the world for sticking around at LSU. Nutt called a couple of schools about their openings w/o permission.

Anyways, Arkansas did have a running game last year, Kniles Davis alone averaged over 100 yards rushing per game. So is your point that if Alabama wasn't so good against the run (what their defense is known for being good at) you would've beat them?

I suppose if Arkansas had a rush defense last year Auburn would've gone down ugly, too.
And this is why I like Wilson better as Arkansas's QB - he makes fewer stupid mistakes. Against LSU, Bama and a couple other games he went soft in the head a couple times. The last INT to the DE on the zone blitx, I just have to say good call by the DC for the Buckeyes.
