In a way I am looking forward to this fight, but in a way I'm not either. It is Memorial Day weekend, so many people will be out celebrating, BBQ'ng and stuff.

I know there are two types of Matt Hughes fans. The ones who love him to death and then those who hate him to death. Sure Matt Hughes has had around 50 MMA fights now, been in the UFC for 10 years now. Been dominant for about 9 of those 10 years.

Defended his title 9 times. So no doubt he is a Hall of Famer stats wise. But on the other hand, he does come off as arrogant. He seems to like to talk down to people. Act as though he is the best that ever was.

You know in every sport, when a legend retires or his skill starts to decline, people always ask if there will ever be another person like him. They did the same thing with Ali, same thing with Jordan, etc.

So lets apply this to the world of MMA. Will there ever be another Fedor ? Another Crocop ? A person whose kicks were so deadly he use to end fights simply by kicking guys in the leg.

In the beginning MMA was seen as a brutal sport. Nothing but an organized bar room brawl between 2 men who were out trying to prove who was the toughest. That was they view most americans had of the sport in america.

Now in other countries, MMA flourished for years. The UFC tried to make MMA a mainstream sport in america in the early 1990s. However their achilles heel was the fact they marketed as a blood sport. No rules no holds barred fighting.
