#21 Temple's Conference Championship Hopes Dashed at Home

(No matter what, I always seem to have at least 1 game every year where I think I am forced to lose. My quarterback pulls down to run immediately after dropping back, and runs right into a defender for a sack. 1 defender had 7 sacks in the first quarter. My running back ran right into defenders. My defense stood and watched a runner run right by them. This game I always quit at halftime and simulate, because it just drives me absolutely nuts. Sometimes I win the simulation, sometimes I lose, but I always keep the results of it. This time, I lost, and lost big.)

#21 Temple Faces USF in Crucial American Conference East Game

Temple will have a tough test at home as they host USF, who is currently in control of the AAC East. If Temple defeats USF, they are in the driver's seat, as they would have the tie-breaker against both USF and Cincinnati.

First Dominoes in Realigment Fall

The Big 12 Conference has caused the first shift in realignment.

BYU, currently an independent, has accepted an invitation to join the Big 12 for the 2020 season. BYU was a member of the Mountain West until they decided to go to independent status. BYU has been adament about staying as a lone wolf, having the BYU network in their contract and against the notion of playing on Sundays. It's rumored a workaround was set in place to accomodate them.

Houston, out of the American Conference, will be joining them. It's rumored Texas voted against them, as having another Texas team would water down the conference, but their power in the conference may be dwindling. The American conference is speculated to have many joining the exodus. They are being proactive in backfilling slots, and have been contacting schools to join them for the 2020 season.

#16 Temple Upset by Tulane

Temple's defense struggled for another week, as they could not stop the run, giving up 168 yards on the ground.

Temple had a chance to take the lead late in the game. After a field goal by Tulane bounced off the uprights, Temple drove down the field, but stalled at mid field. Temple had Tulane's QB sacked, but he wiggled free and threw a 42 yard pass to get Tulane in the red zone, where they sealed the game with a touchdown pass with 5 seconds left.

The biggest loss was star senior running back Darius Brooks going down with a high ankle sprain late in the game, that is projected to keep him out for 9 weeks, essentially ending his season and Temple career. An emotional Brooks limped off the field, visibly upset.

#15 Temple Survives Memphis

Junior Marcus Charles had ice in his veins, as he kicked the game winning field goal as time expired to win the game for Temple. After being iced 3 times, Charles put the ball through the uprights and was carried off the field (Disclaimer: I had to actually control the kicking, as there was no other way. It was my first time seeing the kicking meter actually all iced up, so that was pretty cool.)

The game went back and forth many times, as Temple once again saw a hurry up, read option offense that they struggled with. Temple's defense struggled to stop the attack, giving up many long runs. On Memphis' last drive, the defense held their ground and forced a punt. With a little over 1 minute left and armed with 3 timeouts, Temple drove down the field, with Baker running twice up the middle in the red zone to line up the kick for Charles to kick the winning field goal.
