Coaching Carousel

Head Coach Rice takes the coaching job at his Alma Mater, Cincinnati, to replace Tommy Tuberville, who was fired. Coach Rice had a clause in his contract that if his alma mater ever offered him a coaching position, he would be able to terminate his contract. His contract is for 5 years, with 9 wins being the target goal each year.

Coach Rice will have Charlie Partridge as his offensive coordinator. Partridge runs a spread offense that was ranked 52nd in the NCAA last year, 3rd in the American.

Defensive coordinator C.J. McIntyre runs a 4-3 defense that ranked 76th last year, and 8th in the conference

Outgoing head coach Tommy Tuberville was hired by Arkansas State as their head coach

More Realignment Dominoes Fall, American Conference to be Gutted

The American conference will be the victim when the latest realignment takes place for the 2020 season.

Cincinnati and UConn have accepted invitations to the ACC. Along with those schools, USF and UCF will become the 13th and 14th members of the Big 12.

The American conference has now lost Houston, Cincinnati, UConn, USF, and UCF.

To replace those schools, Army, Rice, Marshall, Southern Miss, and Western Kentucky from Conference USA will be added, bringing the conference back up to 12.

4 schools will be added to Conference USA to bring them up to 12. Ohio and Northern Illinois will be brought in from the MAC, and Louisiana and UL Monroe from the Sun Belt.
