- Summary -
The Jays win a close game 3 to win the series vs. the Angels. The Jays elected to give Karstens the start despite being a few days off his last start and he wasnt sharp only going 4 innings. He should be well rested for the next game. With a man on 3rd, Bautista delivered a SacFly to score the 1st run, and Espinosa trippled to make it 2-0 to start. Wells and Abreau both doubled home runs to tie it 2-2 in the 1st. Next inning after Lawrie singled, Betemit walked, and Arencieba smacked his 1st home run, a 3 run shot to make the lead 5-2. Karstens gave up 2 more RBI singles to Izturis, and Conger in the 4th to end his night, leaving with the Jays up 5-4. Arencieba deliverd a RBI double in the 6th to make it 6-4, and with the bases loaded in the 6th for the Angels Litsch was pulled for Ryan Perry with 2 outs and fresh out of AAA perry recorded the last out which was a turning point for the jays. Marshall allowed hunter to drive in a run with an RBI double to make it 6-5, but in the 8th Escobar delivered with an RBI single which proved to be the winning run. Kendrick got a solo HR off Balfour but no one could touch Feliz who struck out all 3 he faced for his 3rd save.

The Jays have sent SP Carlos Villanueva along with 1-4 star Prospect Griffin Murphy to the Pirates for SP Jeff Karstens and SS Ronny Cedeno. The Jays weren't comfortable with Villanueva and wanted a SP with a 3+ year contract and got that with Karstens who has a 1-0 record and 1.74 ERA so far this year to go along with 11 K's. Villanueva has a 13.50 ERA and has a loss on the season with 4K's. The prospect was a high rated (up to 4 star potenial) OF and will help the Pirates in years to come. Cedeno takes over the backup SS position. The Jays send utility man John McDonald to AAA to make room.

* Karstens will take over and start tonights finale vs. Angels *

Morales - 2/5 HR 2RBI

- Summary -
After a tough loss last game to the Angels, the Jays bounce back nicely with a big win behind Jonathan Sanchez's 2nd win in as many starts. The 1st inning started off big as Escobar singled and Zobrist homered making it 2-0, shortly after Bautista hit his 1st of 2 home runs which was a solo shot making it 3-0. In the 3rd, after a Adam Jones single Bautista hit his 2nd home run (4th on the season) making it 5-0. In the 5th, after Zobrist singled and stold 2nd, Jones and Bautista both walked and Espinosa jacked a no doubt Grand Slam to opposite field to make the lead 9-0. Sanchez went 7 innings only allowing a HR to Wells in the 6th to make it 9-1, but had to come out after throwing 106 pitches. The bullpen wasnt very good as camp allowed 2 RBI to Kendrick and 1 RBI to Wells. Miller wasnt good either allowing a 2 run shot to Morales.

--- After the game the Jays dealt Shawn Camp, Trevor Miller & 1-2 Star Pitching Prospect to the Athletics for Grant Balfour. Balfour will now solidify the bullpen for the Jays. They also called up RP Ryan Perry from AAA.

7 Games into the new season and the Jays have already cut ties on their CF Rasmus. The Jays Sent Colby Rasmus along with a 1-3 star pitching prospect to the Baltimore Orioles for Adam Jones. Jones will take over the CF role and the Jays GM has obviously showed hes not fooling around. Jones has 1 HR and 4 RBI this season while Rasmus is batting .172 with 1RBI.

- Summary -
This wasnt a good outing from Liriano who followed up his excellent last outing with a terrible 6 ER performance. Kendrick started the scoring in the 1st inning when his single scored a run. In the 4th, after a throwing error left Zobrist on 2nd base, Espinosa singled, and Thome drove in both runners for a 2-1 lead. Liriano let the ball drop next inning allowing a 3 run double to Vernon Wells, and a 2 run HR to Morales. In the 7th, Bautista singled in a run to cut the lead to 6-3. Next inning however, Aybar singled to score a run to make the lead 7-3 Angels. In the 9th the Jays made a small push when Bautista nailed his 2nd home run to center which scored 2. It was too late however as they Jays fall for the 2nd straight game.

- There has been news also that the Jays are looking at offers for CF Rasmus who has been terrible to start the season.

Epinosa was then up 2 batters later and drove a solo shot for his second to make it 3-0. Next inning with runners on 2nd/3rd, Raja Davis grounded out, which scored Lawrie to make it 4-0. Sanchez was good going 6 Innings but made a mistake to Morneau in the 3rd when he belted a solo shot, 4-1. Lind blased a solo shot to the 2nd deck in the 6th to give the Jays a 5-1 lead. Sanchez gave up a single in the 6th and was replaced by Camp because of pitch counts. Camp allowed RBI Singles to Valencia, Young, and Hughes to make it 5-4. With Marshall in for the 8th, he struckout the 1st 2 batters he faced but allowed a solo HR to Revere to tie the game 5-5. In the bottom of the 10th, Zobrist got his 1st hit with his new team as a pinch hitter for Raja Davis. Next batter was Rasmus and with the hit and run on, Zobrist broke for 2nd and Rasmus drove a double to deep center which scored Zobrist for the winning run. Wow what a game. - Summary -
The new look Jays had a great 1st game under their new manager. Romero was shaky at 1st but then settled down to get the win in 6 innings, allowing 4 Runs, 2 of them earned because of an Escobar error. Baker looked rough allowing 6ER and Mijares's night was even worse allowing 6ER in 2.1 innings.
Youngs RBI single gave the Twins the 1-0 Lead, but next inning after a Bautista double, Lind cashed him in with a single to tie the game 1-1. In the 4th after a bunt single by Valencia and an Escobar error, Hughes singled to make it 3-1 Twins. Next inning however Danny Espinosa (after a Lind single), drove a 2 Run HR to opposite field to tie it. In the 6th Casilla doubled to score Revere (who stold 2nd base). However, just the Twins couldnt hold the lead. With runners on 1str/3rd, Espinosa came through again with a double to score a run. With a man on 2nd/3rd and 1 out they walked Arencieba to load the bases. Jim Thome was inserted as a pinch hitter for Escobar and hurt his old team by driving in 2 Runs with a single. Next inning (7th), after Bautista's 3rd double, Lind drove him in with a double of his own. Espinosa delivering his 4th RBI scored Lind with a single and Arencieba delivered with a Sacrafice Fly to score Lind later in the inning. In the 8th after Espinosa delivered his 5th RBI of the game scoring Bautista, Ianetta doubled and then Brett Lawrie drove in his 1st 2 career MLB RBI's with a single.

The Blue Jays new manager has finally finished his over haul for Spring Training. He made a series of moves today to add to his already suprising amount of moves last night. It looks as if they Jays and looking to compete this season rather then waiting on some Prospects. Here are the deals:

1) The Jays traded Closer Jon Rauch, High rated Catching Prospect (2-4 star) Carlos Perez, and other High SP Prospect Abe Wakefeild (2-3 star) to the Rangers for their Closer Neftali Perez, and Reliever Pedro Strop.

- Summary:
The Jays have been in need for a solid closer and they finally have it. They had to give 2 high prospects but it should pay off. The Rangers didnt want to talk Feliz but when they Jays mentioned Carlos Perez the Rangers were interested and a deal was finalized. Strop should start the year with AAA.

2) The Jays moved their young SP Brandon Morrow, utility man Mark Teahen, and 1B prospect Nelson Reyes (1-3 star) to the Twins for SP Francisco Liriano, and 1B/DH power hitter Jim Thome.

-Summary:
The Jays like Liriano and had to part with Morrow to get him. They also got Thome who should backup Lind at 1B and Arencieba at DH. The Jays liked his 1 year deal and think he can help them this season. The Rangers get a nice young heavy throwing SP and Teahen who can play many positions. They also get a young 1B for their farm.

3) The Jays traded 3B Jayson Nix, LRP Brain Tallet, and LF prospect Jack Hennessey (1-3 star) to the Tigers for 3B Wilson Betemit, and RP Ryan Perry.

-Summary:
The Jays wanted a 3B (besides Bautista who they want in the OF) to help push Lawrie along. With him there pressing for At Bats, it should light a fire under Lawrie and make him better. They will share time at 3b but Lawrie should get the majority of starts unless he struggles. They also get Ryan Perry who will start in AAA and battle other aquisitons (Escalona, Strop) for a shot in the big leagues this year. The Tigers get Nix who will help them at 3B plus Tallet whos a lefty that they liked and a LF prospect for their Farm.

4) Lastly, the Jays dealt 2 young OF with alot of potential in Travis Snider and Eric Thames, along with 3B Prospect Patrick Morgan (1-3 star) to the Rays for utility player Ben Zobrist, and C Kelly Shoppach.

- Summary:
This shocking move was because they had way to many OF and they wanted to deal 2 of their young ones for 1 solid player. Zobrist will start in the OF but also help backup 2B and should fit in great for the Jays. Shoppach will start in AAA until called upon.

* They Jays also added FA'a 1B/3B Mike Lamb, and Canadian OF Matt Stairs to deals. They will be assigned to AAA.

*This looks like the end until the season starts. Spring Training starts tonight so updates to come*
Posted on August 5, 2011 at 12:05 PM.
Spring Training is here and the New GM wasted no time to deliver a flurry of moves to help the franchise with a few more to come around the end he hopes.

1) Jays trade Aaron Hill (75, 2B), and Aaron Sanchez (60, AA Prospect with 4 Star Potential) to the Nationals for Danny Espinosa (84, 2b)

-Summary:
This deal was a great move for the Jays, as they get a younger 2B with more potential. The Jays loved Aaron Hill but with the addition of the AA Prospect who was rated very high for the Jays, the Nationals and the Jays both loved their sides.

2) Jays trade Edwin Encarnacion (77, 3B), and Jose Molina (78, C) to the Rockies for Chris Ianetta (75, C), and Edgmer Escalona (66 AAA RP)

-Summary:
The Jays were not happy with Arencieba's defence so he will be moved to DH role with the depature of EE. Ianetta can now move into a everyday Catcher role with Arencieba giving him the day off when he needs the rest. The Rockies liked the power they recieved in EE, and also the veteran presence for their young Catchers. Escalona will start the season helping the AAA Bullpen

3) Jays trade Jese Carlson (CL, 69) and Jeff Ford (53 AA Prospect RP with 3 star potential) to the Reds for Nick Massett (77, RP)

-Summary:
The Jays really needed better setup options so they got Massett on the trade front to help that. Also he can pitch in the middle of games if needed. The Jays lose their AAA Closer, so they added FA Ryan Franklin to a (2yr/801K) contract to close games for AAA. The Reds liked Carlson as a possible closer for AAA who can hopefully get to the bigs. The prospect Jeff Ford is said to report to AA to develop into a long reliever for them in the future.

4) The Jays trade Frank Francisco (75, RP), Dustin McGowan (74, SP), and A Prospect Lary Lewis (47, 2 star SP) to the Giants for Jonathan Sanchez (81, SP).

-Summary:
The Jays really needed another SP to help the rotation to start the season. They liked alot of SP's but it turns out they could get the best for Sanchez who will take over #2-3 role. The Giants get a nice SP who will be pitchin in the majors when hes fully over his injuries, and Francisco who will help their bullpen. The prospect was icing on the cake for the Giants.

5) The Jays trade AAA players, Brian Stokes (4 star potential, 67 overall) and prospect John Robertson (AAA 3 star potential 64 overall) to the Cubs for 79 overalll RP Sean Marshall.

-Summary:
The Jays wanted 1 more SU man for their bullpen and Marshall fit their needs perfectly. They lose a high prospect but they liked the move.

* Thats the end of the moves for Jays to start Spring Training but im hearing rumbles that because Lawrie is playing 3rd, Bautista RF and Rasmus CF, that Thames/Snider might get packaged for 1 decent LF with Davis the 4th OF. Also hearing Rauch+Prospect(s) will be moved for a potential Closer. Lastly im hearing Morrow might be dealt but we will see what happens.

The Jays have made some news on the trade front. While nothing is set in stone right yet there have been talks about a few deals being close if not done:

- Encarnacion/Prospect for Ianetta
- Aaron Hill/Jose Molina for Danny Espinosa
- McGowan/Francisco/Prospect for a possible #2 SP
- John Carlson for Nick Massett

* These are some reported deals from the Jays organization. We will see in a few days what comes of this. If these deals are true, then it looks like the new manager it off to a promising start. These could be all the moves we see during Spring Training, and im sure we might see a minor FA add or 2 happen as well. More to come..

The Blue Jays are starting to make some news on the trade front. They have been working with the Rockies for Catcher Ianetta as they want to move Arencieba to the DH spot. It is rumored that Edwin Encarnacion could be involved in a potential offer with prospects. Also they are working with the Tigers for RP Ryan Perry who they think can solidify their bullpen. Also, the team is looking at some potential SP to solidify the rotation such as James Sheilds. The GM has listed a few players on the roster he has on the trade block for now:

- Edwin Encarnacion
- Jose Molina
- Frank Francisco
- Brad Mills
