Swisher hit a solo shot the same inning to tie it. In the 6th, Jim Thome blasted his 4th homer out, which was a 2 run shot to give Jays a 3-1 lead. Francisco singled up the center to score another run to make it 4-1. Bautista singled in a run next inning to make it 5-1. The Jays were looking to finally get a win, when Granderson doubled in a run, and then Posada knocked a 3 run shot out to tie it. In the bottom of the 9th, Masset allowed the bases loaded and a Teixiera single scored a run to win it for the Yankees.

* After the game RP Grant Balfour, and 1-3 Star Catching Prospect were traded to the Cardinals for RP Fernando Salas. Salas will take over Balfours failed role in the bullpen.
* Also Kyle Drabek was called up to replace Romero in the lineup as he will be heading to the DL.

- Summary -
Wow, what a close game as the Jays lose game 1 in dramatic fashion with the game lasting 14 innings. The Jays put up a good fight with Thome and Zobrist gettin days off for rest. In the 3rd after Cedeno singled and stold 2nd, Escobar singled him home for a 1-0 lead. The Yankees didnt get on the board until the 5th when Posada hit a solo HR off of Garcia. Next inning after Garcia allowed a single, he was pulled for Janssen who allowed a 2 Run HR to Granderson to make it 3-1 Yankees. In the 7th, after Davis singled and stold 2nd, Bautista doubled him home, 3-2 Yanks. In the top 9th, with Rivera in to close, Jones singled home a runner, then Sanchez drove in his 1st RBI as a Jay to make it 4-3 Jays. Feliz was in for the save and picked a terrible time to allow his 1st Run of the season as Posada doubled home another run, 4-4. There wasnt any action until the 12th when Arencieba had the bases loaded and stuck out (giving him 5 on the night). In the 14th with Marshall in, Gardner doubled, and Teixeira drove him in for the walk off win, 5-4 Yankees. The Jays will look to get some innings out of Cecil next game, and glad to get Zobrist, Thome back in the lineup as they are desperate for a win.

In Shocking News, The Blue Jays have sent 1B Adam Lind and a 2 Star Prospect to Florida for 1B Gabby Sanchez. The move comes as a suprise but when asked the GM had this to say:

"Lind has been struggling this season with only 2HR and 8RBI while battin .298. We expected more power, but we think a change of scenery will benifit him. We like Sanchez because he offers the same power, same position, same age, but he lets us save 3 million in sallary."

- Sanchez is batting .239 with 5HR and 13RBI.
Lineup Changes (Game 1 vs. Yankees)
- Gabby Sanchez in at 1B, batting 5th
- Thome out (68 energy), Zobrist out (73 energy)*
- Francisco DH, Cedeno 2B
* Both wil be back in the lineup for Game 2

Jamie Garcia pitched a great match minus the first inning in his debut going 7 innings with 11 strikeouts. The Rays got off to a quick start as Longoria hit a 2 run HR to deep left for the 2-0 lead. Next inning after Arencieba doubled, Allen Craig drove him in with an RBI single. Both pitchers were great from then on until the bottom of the 7th when Davis singled, and stold his 3rd base of the game. Escobar sacraficed him to 3rd, then Zobrist popped out to Catcher. Bautista stepped up and drove a 2 Run HR to opposite field to give the Jays the 3-2 lead. Balfour pitched a clean 8th inning, and Feliz struck out 2 to get his 6th save of the season. He has been clutch for the Jays, he has not allowed a run yet in 6 appearances.

- Summary -
The Jays took the tough loss here to fall back and let Rays tie the series. Cecil pitched 6 innings of 3 hit ball but also had 3 walks and a high pitch count so was removed for Marshall/Masset who lost the game for the Jays. Bautista hit a solo HR in the 1st , his 9th of the season (leading the league). Longoria's RBI double tied it up in the 4th, but the Jays pulled back in front in the 5th when Zobrist knocked in Betemit, after Davis sacraficed him to 2nd. In the 7th Marshall allowed Damon to pinch hit single to Tie it at 2's. He allowed a single before letting way to Masset who also allowed a single, followed by Uptons 3 Run HR to take a 5-2 lead. The Jays tried to tie it up when Lind drove in Bautista with a single. Bottom of the 9th, Davis singled and stole 2nd, Escobar singled, Davis to 3rd, and Bautsita walked to load the bases with 1 out. Lind hit a sac fly to deep center, Davis scored, and the other 2 runners advanced. Thome drove one to the wall but was caught by Jennings to end the Game. Tough loss but very good showing considering all the injuries to the Jays. Ianetta left the game and is DTD (12 days) with hurt wrist after sliding into 3rd.

* Ianetta sent to AAA to rest, Shoppach called up to backup Arenceiba who will start at Catcher.

Next inning Ben Zobrist hit a double that scored Escobar, who had a 4 hit game and continues his good play. In the 6th, Ben Francisco got his 1st RBI with the Jay's smacking a single in opposite field to score Arencieba. Craig was up next, and grounded out but a throwing error by Brignac allowed Francisco to score from 1st, 6-0. In the 8th, Sanchez gave up 1 RBI single to Chirinos, and then a 2 run single to pinch hitter Eliot Johnson. That was it for his night as Marshall/Balfour shut down the rest of the game. in the bottom of the 8th, after the bases were loaded, Zobrist hit a sac fly to center for a 7-3 lead and then "BOMB"tista smacked a no doubt 3 run HR to centerfield, registering almost 430 ft. - Summary -
The Jays take game 2 of this 4 game series 5-2, following their great 1st game up with another great pitching performance by Jonathan Sanchez who went 7.2 strong with 8 K's and 2 ER. Ben Francisco's 1st game as a Jay went well going 2/4 with a run. If he plays like that every game he will find himself ahead of Davis on the Depth Chart. The Red Sox jumped out to the 1-0 lead when Gonzalez singled home the runner from 2nd. Next inning Lind smacked a lead off Solo Shot, his 1st since retuning to the lineup from that DTD injury. After a flurry of hits, Escobar singled home a run, and Jones did the same shortly after. In the 5th Bautista creamed his 6th homer of the season, a solo shot to opposite feild. In the 6th Elsbury doubled home a run, and Lind hit a single to center that went past Ellsbury to allow Bautista to score from 1st. Feliz came in for his 5th Save and hasnt allowed a run yet this season.

- Summary -
Wow, the Blue Jays hot start continues demolishing the Sox with 21 hits and 13 runs. Liriano was solid pitching 8 innings after his last rough start. Thome was a beast as he HR and doubled twice off the green monster. The RedSox were up 2-0 going into the 4th but that was all they could get off Liriano before the Jays went off. Zobrist drove in 3 RBI in the game continuing his recent hot streak. Espinosa/Thome both had solo home runs, and Thome also contributed for 4 RBI. 3B Brett Lawrie had another solid game going 3/5 with 2RBI and 3 Runs. He will take a seat to Betemit for game 2. Even newly aquired Ronny Cedeno (in for Escobar rest day), chipped in with 2 RBI. Danny Espinosa ruptured his ankle after going after a hard hit ground ball. He will go to the DL and is expected to miss 20 days.

-- With Espinosa on the DL, The Jays move Zobrist to 2B, and they traded 1B Mike Lamb, along with 1-4 Prospect for LF Ben Francisco and 2B Ronnie Belliard. Francisco, along with Raja Davis will split time at LF until Espinosa returns, and Belliard will help out the AAA team.
