the ps2/xb gen of ea games were really fun. the gameplay , the animations, and the controls, especially the controls were so responsive. i saw some guys juking their way out of tackles and it reminded me how good those games were. fluid motion and nothing bogged down or stuck in animations. sometimes simple is the best.
Just get both games if you can't decide, they're still pretty cheap.

Re: Ncaa 04 vs Ncaa 06

I think the fatigue in 06 is ok but I also house rule fatigue by using formation subs. On defense I'll use 4-3 and 4-2-5 as a combo "package" and nickel/dime as another with mostly just DL subs to be realistic with line rotations. I'm building a program no way should even a highly recruited DL play every snap regardless of what the game's fatigue does. I keep a few formations on offense with my 3rd string back and then use the HB sub formation if my starter breaks a long run or has been on the field for a while. I use multiple WR sets depending on my depth but try to rotate 5 guys throughout different formations.

Formation subs are great for this. I use them quite a bit on offense but rarely on defense but I like your suggestions. Makes sense as lots of coaches like certain players in 3rd down situations and the like so thanks for the idea.

If I build a team up and am recruiting at a high level year over year I like to play a ton of guys. Rarely do I RS except maybe a QB or a 3rd team OL guy. So the only way to play a lot of DL is with formation subs to try and get 7-8 guys regular snaps. I also formation sub in my KO and punt packages to get younger players in.

Forgot to add that you can hack the 5-2 defense as well because the cover-2 man play has one DE in man or you can audible a DE to a spy and basically play zone. So you can put LB/DE/DT/DT/DE in that formation and still run a functional defense that resembles a 4-3. Just another way to get more guys on the field.
