Re: Offensive schemes and tactics

I started as a pro guy but wanted more shotgun/passing options to open up the defense. Now I've just created a playbook with the run n shoot playbook and added some more runs/formations. I really like a vertical passing game and I like routes that bait the coverage to get somebody else open. I like running inside with dives/traps and whatnot. I prefer to run first, and i like read options but try not to run them a lot because they're overpowered.

I do use those plays, but maybe not enough as I'd want to. I was thinking about it the other day, and I should treat those motion swings like rocket toss from the flexbone. Especially since I have decent blockers at WR, then I should be able to gain a good amount of yards, given the right look.

Re: Offensive schemes and tactics

Okay question as I am playing 12. If I don't get a scrambling QB for whatever reason, I use a fast HB and use my other HB when running the option and only allow my HB (playing QB) only to make "safe" passes. It has worked great using Texas A&Ms playbook on NCAA 06. What playbook or types of plays would this work for in NCAA 12? It isn't working hardly at all in 12 using Texas A&Ms playbook.

Many thanks.

What formations were you running in 06? Having shotgun and pistol formations really help out with the option game.

Depending on the throwing stats on your converted HB, I'd stick to quick screens amd shallow crosses. Custom playbooks are the way to go for that.

Re: Offensive schemes and tactics

I used Texas A&Ms playbook. Shotgun Y Trips running speed option, QB Choice, also PA Read (that might be under a different play though). This one play, I think it might be WR Unders. It has my HB coming out of the backfield to the left or right. Let's say I am going left. I take the WR from the left and move him over to the right. The CB follows him sometimes. I hike the ball, pump fake, then throw it to my HB for a great gain. This is also a great play for two point conversions. All this is in 06 though on All American. My dynasty was Tulsa and both my HBs finished way up there in a Heisman voting.

I just got NCAA 12 a week or so ago. My UConn dynasty is decent but in some cases I am getting passes caught because just sheer luck. The outside run game is nonexistent, the option is the same. My QB is kinda fast but not great. So, I want to use the two HB system sometimes like in 06, but I can't find or don't know best Plays to use. Any ideas? Also, I just thought of this one. Would this work? Let's say I have a play running to the outside. Option or whatever. What if I lined up a Tackle where the TE should be? Would that work for better blocking purposes? Thanks.

I've on occasion done similar things on 06/07. Have you tried the actual legit wildcat formations?

Re: Offensive schemes and tactics

Honestly, I am not an X's and O's kinda guy. Never played the sport or studied it. I wish I had played in my youth. I am looking at a spreadsheet now that has the NCAA 12 offenses listed by formations. I have never dealt or seen the wildcat. I am going to check it out. What about the idea of placing a Tackle where the TE should be to block better? Thanks again. Any other things any veterans want to share about the X's and O's of game playing would be great. Thanks again.

Re: Offensive schemes and tactics

There's a tackle-over wildcat set that has a linemen and tight end switched, I believe.

The wildcat is just a two-tailback single wing formation. It came to popularity when Gus Malzahn was OC at Arkansas with Darren McFadden and Felix Jones in 06.
