Mom is starting to take her medicines much better, after seeing the Japanese speaking doctor. I hope she continues to get better. I know it's hard taking 9 to 10 pills a day.

Spurs and Heat are up 1-0 in their respective series. OKC really missed an opportunity to steal Game 1. Celtics looked old, and it's gotta be tough for Ray Allen and his bad wheel.

Nobody, NOBODY picked the Kings vs. Devils. Nothing like overtime hockey, Game 6 between the Devils and Rangers was exciting! Even if you don't enjoy hockey, you have to watch the Finals, right?

QOTD: Who do you see in the NBA Finals and who are you pulling for to win the Stanley Cup?

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty. - John F. Kennedy

No QOTD today, just thank all of the brave men and women who serve(d) this country. They are the true heroes and should be thanked often, not just today.

Wade went off last night, I mean... It was pretty damn impressive really. 17 for 25? Gotta give him some props, even though I hate the Heat.

Pulling for the 6ers tomorrow, but I think Rondo has a big game, making up for the disappointing game 6. I predict he has a triple double, in a very close game.

QOTD: Are you pulling for the 6ers or Celtics? Any bold predictions?

Take a quick look at the AL East standings and you might find yourself feeling disoriented.

For the first time in the last ten years, both New York and Boston are missing from the top two spots of the AL East standings with a week to go in May. Instead, the Yankees and Red Sox are cuddling at the bottom of the baseball pyramid below Baltimore, Tampa Bay, and Toronto.

Since 2002, the Yankees have been lower than third in the standings only once at this point in the season. That same year, 2008, is the only year New York failed to make it back within the top two by the end of the season.

Much like New York, the Red Sox have struggled when finding themselves out of reach this time of year. Boston is currently in the middle of a two-year skid where they have been third or lower at this point in the season and failed to rebound within the top two by October.

But is it that New York and Boston have slipped, or that the new guard is making a move?

The Orioles – in last place at this point in 2009, ’10 and ’11 – find themselves atop the AL East for the first time since 2005 through this point in the campaign. Thanks to the tenth best ERA in baseball (3.53) and a surging offense – sixth best in runs scored (203) and fifth in SLG% (.437) – Baltimore is leading a youth movement.

The Rays, on the other hand, have established themselves as early season and postseason threats since the 2008 season when they won the division. Following six years at or near the bottom of the AL East, Tampa Bay has proven themselves worthy with top-ten offensive, pitching, and defensive production since their AL East crowning year.

Toronto, however, may be as much of a surprise as Baltimore considering how they’ve found themselves in third place with a 24-21 record thus far. The Blue Jays are well known for their power and explosive potential on offense. But it has been the ability of their pitching to stymie the bats of the opposition – fourth best .233 BAA -- that has kept them alive in an ultra-competitive division.

So are the standings really significantly flipped? Or is the AL East and its members a victim of their own high-level competition?

Currently, every team in the AL East has a plus-differential for runs scored versus runs allowed on the season. Only the NL East with the NY Mets (-29) have less than three teams in the red.

Not only are the teams in the AL East scoring more runs on average than their opponents, but they are also producing wins to back it up. Even at the bottom, the Boston Red Sox (22-22) have played well enough to earn a virtual tie for second in the AL Central, or sole possession of second in the AL West.

Unfortunately, winning records are worth very little in the AL East. The battle to the postseason starts with the grind for the division title and extends to the quest for the consolation of a wild-card birth.

Something the AL East may grab two of in 2012.

Should the Yankees and Red Sox start to panic? Who do you see winning the AL East?

I just don't buy into the "experience is key" factor in sports. Time and time again, I see "experienced" players doing dumb stuff. You either step up at game time or you don't. It's that simple. Looking forward to the 6ers vs. Celtics game 7.

QOTD: Do you put much into experience being a factor in sports?

Yesterday... Was simply put... Crazy. I took my mom to her doctor appointment, but I was given the wrong address. So we had to shoot across the city to the correct location, about an hour away. Updating a website ADDRESS would be a GOOD thing people...

The Heat took care of business last night, in a huge way. Not understanding the flagrant foul rules, I guess. I mean, if you have rules in place, enforce them. Haslem should have received a flagrant 2 for the above video, what if MWP did the same thing? DONE.

QOTD: Is there anything that can be done to justify these NBA flagrant foul calls?

We all knew it was coming, we just didn't have the proof.

As most of you should know by now, Kotaku has said the MLB 2K series is all but dead.

So where does 2K go now? They lost NHL 2K a few years ago, even after a solid outing. NFL 2K is long gone, and I won't even get into that debate. Top Spin is a great game, but tennis just isn't popular enough. The NBA 2K series has been both insanely popular and successful, which ultimately led to them practically stopping the production of the only competition they had. But with NBA Elite 11 getting axed two years ago, and with EA Sports taking a year off from the NBA, 2K did nothing to separate themselves even more than what they already have.

The crew down at 2K won the battle with EA for the rights to use Michael Jordan in the game, which was the beginning of something that was supposed to be huge. But after arguably the greatest sports game ever made (NBA 2K11), 2K12 seemed to be a letdown. The online servers are still shotty, which is one thing EA always tends to get right. The gameplay became so advanced and fantastic that they lost the casual market; a causality of their own hard work and success. It really is a shame.

But now with NBA Live making a return, shouldn't 2K be worried? I highly doubt whatever EA puts out will be better than 2K13, but it will be closer than most think. EA knows that if their product is garbage, they will have lost the entire NBA scene for good. They won't mess this up.

So what happens when NBA Live is really, really good? What if it gets to the point that 2K starts losing money to EA? It's damn near impossible to survive the sports market with one game, regardless of how flat-out, ridiculously good it is.

This next year is going to tell us a lot about the sports gaming market. I hope I'm wrong. But if I'm not, 2K Sports is going to need a lot of luck.

Do you think 2K Sports will ultimately survive with nothing but NBA 2K in their sports lineup?

"Hello O.S. My name is Justin and I have a football consumption problem."

[Reciprocate monotone welcome here]

"Wait, wait, wait. I'm not here to fix the problem."

[Light applause, general scoffing, mumbling about another sports blogger]

"What did I get myself into?" he thought to himself while speaking about himself in the third person.

"Where did they get this guy from?" an experienced veteran of high importance asked above the council.

"I...I, uh...I'm..." he paused to think before shrugging his arms. "I'm from the trenches," he stated succinctly.

All of the members in attendance perked up in their listening booths. Their change in demeanor encouraged and empowered him. The ice was broken. He was one of them.

And so it began:

"I'm here because I truly love the game of football. 'Love?' you might ask. Well, yeah. In a commitment kind of way, I do. I give the game of football my attention. It completes me. It helped define me as a young child with dreams. It helped shape me as a young athlete in preparation for life's obstacles. And it helped me give back by having the opportunity to coach for several years.

Baseball has been good to me in many of the same ways, but the daily mental and physical grind associated with football is something that no other sport has been able to affect on me.

I learned the ropes as a lineman, and thus why I come from the trenches. And let it be known; that will be the last time I use "ropes" in a positive light in reference to football. As most linemen know, ropes are evil. When is the last time a lineman had to pick his feet more than six inches off the ground anyways? The speed ladder. Now that is something I can do.

I've also been treated well in life by my beautiful wife and three wonderful boys. I bring the lineman mentality into my style as a husband and father. I strive to be soft-spoken, hard-working, inquisitive, creative, and humble. I also hope to recover a fumble for a touchdown from time to time, but I realize there are four other trench-dwellers who feel the same way when they see the pigskin laying in the painted area.

I'm a thinking man's man and can be quite contrarian if I believe in an idea. I'm good with people and bad at shortstop. I know that analysis, synthesis, and evaluation are the highest forms of understanding. And I know you can put a cat in an oven, but that doesn't make it a biscuit.

So let me finish by saying that I'm very excited about the opportunity to share myself with you through the glorious avenue of football. I look forward to many days of grunting -- or conversation as the adults put it -- about the one thing we love.

Welcome to the trenches."

Taking my mom in for a doctors appointment today. She has been reluctant to take her meds lately, so it's causing a lot of concern.

Kobe can't do it all by himself! Will be an interesting off-season for the Lakers. The Thunder vs. Spurs series should be epic.

QOTD: Who do you see winning the Thunder vs. Spurs series?

If any of these links interest you, talk about them!Had the worst game of basketball I've had in a LONG, LONG time last night. Passing and rebounding was fine, but my shot... Wow. I missed everything, including the rim on occasion. LOL. It is what it is though, I'll be back out there Saturday.

Can't believe the Lakers blew that game last night. They had it in the bag. Going to be tough being down 2-0, but I wouldn't count them out just yet.

Obviously, this has nothing to do with gameplay. It's just something fun to do, as we wait for more Madden NFL 13 details to trickle in.

We know Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Ben Roethlisberger and Cam Newton all have their authentic quarterback cadences in Madden NFL 13. The team has gone on record to state the "Top 10" quarterbacks in the NFL will have their authentic cadence.

I'm not placing Cam in the "Top 10" just yet, but someone did. It makes you wonder who the other 6 quarterbacks will be, right?

With that said, post your "Top 10" and let's see who is the closest.

My "Top 10"
1. Aaron Rodgers
2. Drew Brees
3. Eli Manning (Yes, I'm a Cowboys fan, so this pains me)
4. Tom Brady
5. Ben Roethlisberger
6. Peyton Manning (Hard to say how he'll come back from injury, new team, etc.)
7. Tony Romo
8. Matt Ryan
9. Matthew Stafford
10. Matt Schaub

Who I think the Madden NFL 13 team has chosen
1. Aaron Rodgers (CONFIRMED)
2. Tom Brady (CONFIRMED)
3. Peyton Manning (We've seen many screenshots of him)
4. Ben Roethlisberger (CONFIRMED)
5. Drew Brees (Cover athlete for Madden NFL 11)
6. Cam Newton (CONFIRMED)
7. Eli Manning (They created his celebration dance, for crying out loud)
8. Mike Vick (He was almost the cover athlete last year)
9. Tim Tebow (C'mon. It's Tim Freakin' Tebow, the media darling.)
10. Robert Griffin III (He's on the cover of NCAA Football 13, they had to have arranged something, right?)
