Buffalo goes back home with a 12-3 record to play the Philadelphia Eagles to cap off the season.

As you can see we got down early and had to completely abandon the run game (38 total rushing YDS). The 12 INTs Phillips had is just ridiculous..even for a sim. I'm a little disappointed in this game, but I guess that's what you get for simming a game, right? Mario added another sack and now has 21 on the season, coming ever closer to the record.

Buffalo travels across the country to Oakland next week to face the Raiders. CJ Spiller will be able to play and Stevie Johnson is the only injured Bill at the moment.

Mario Williams was a beast on the D-Line recording a career high 5 sacks of Phillip Rivers and 13 sacks in his last 4 games. He has 20 on the season with 3 games left and only needing 3 sacks to break the single season record. 1 sack a game seems trivial to Mario at this point in his hot streak and there's no doubt he'll break the record, it's just a matter of which game it'll be in.

The Bills stay at home and host the Dallas Cowboys in a Week 15 matchup.
Wednesday, March 20, 2013

Spiller neared 200 rushing YDS again and Mario added 2 more sacks to his season total. The TDs given up were just due to me blitzing most of the second half and they beat coverage. My CBs were all over and benefitted from bad throws due to continous presssure on Eli. Graham had a career day and is going to make a living burning press CBs in this league.

The first 3 quarters consisted of tough defense (that and a combination of the offenses not getting anything going, mistakes they made that had nothing to do with the D). As usual Buffalo shut down the run and held Denver to only 47 rushing YDS for the game. As soon as I'd pull away, DEN would score and stay in the game, I couldn't get more than an 8 point lead in the second half. With about 6 minutes left Manning hit Demaryius Thomas for a TD that brought them within 2, but luckly they didn't convert for 2. I did everything I could to run the clock out, but eventually had to punt with a few minutes left. Denver drove down, while using a lot of clock, and got all the way to my goal line. Somehow I stopped them from getting in the end zone and Pratter hit an easy 18 YD FG for the lead with 27 seconds to go. Of course I only had a few options here, but I had all my TOs and I wasn't trying to force anything. I gained a few yards here and there and chipped up field, but I got caught in bounds and had to burn a few TOs along the way. For some reason (must be bad AI) they pressed Grahama and he got an excellent release and streaked by Sam Shields, Rahim Moore came over from his Safety position, but wasn't in time as Phillips delivered a beautiful ball over the shoulder hitting Graham in stride to scamper down the field for the game winning TD. I went for two in case they scored again, but didn't convert. I squibbed so they couldn't return and time ran out on Champ Bailey's return and we had won.
TJ Graham is really coming alive with his second straight 100+ YD receiving game and is starting to become a nice second year deep threat on a team lacking a lot of downfield options. His development will have a huge impact on the future of this team if he continues to play like he has the last few weeks.
This game was a great play and was a lot of fun.
NOW FOR THE BAD NEWS
CJ Spiller got hurt early in the second with an abdominal tear, the in game medical center said he'd be out 4 weeks (he just came back! ugh) and Fred Jackson went down a few minutes after that with a partial PCL tear (4 weeks). The post game injury report gave me some good news and that Spiller would only be out 1 week and Jackson was going to be gone for 4. I picked up Chris Ivory for $680k just to have a 4th back on the roster for times like this with Goodson the only health back at the moment.

Next week Buffalo travels to Cleveland to take on the surging Browns who are carrying a win streak of their own. Lets see who's will stand after next weeks game.

There's nothing like beating the Patriots..nothing.
Buffalo avenged their earlier loss to NE, handling them quite easily at the Ralph in this Week 9 AFC East matchup.
CJ Spiller recorded his second 200+ YD rushing game of the year and added 3 more TDs to his resume for the year. TJ Graham showed why he's one of the best deep threats in the league by beating NE CBs on streaks and blowing by when they jammed him at the line. This is Graham's second 100+ YD receiving effort of the year and first since Week 3 vs the New York Jets. Fitzpatrick played very well as a fill in for the hurt Pharoah Phillips and this will likely end his string of starts since Phillips is due to return to action next week.
The Bills #1 defensive gameplan was to shut down Rob Gronkowski as they did in their Week 2 matchup. In both games combined vs the Bills, Gronkowski has 5 REC for 57 YDS and 0 TDs. Tom Brady found other targets, including other start TE Aaron Hernandez (3 REC 78 YDS 2 TD).
Next week Buffal travels to Denver to take on the 4-4 Broncos in another AFC game.

Rookie QB Pharoah Phillips is playing very well despite his below average decision making and large INT number.
Well here is a look around the league half way through the season!

Like the last three games, the 4th quarter has decided the outcome and for once, Buffalo didn't outscore their opponent in final period, let alone score at all. This is the first time all season Buffalo has failed to score in the 4th and it will serve as a reminder that you can't always wait until the 4th to show up and play.
Fitzpatrick proved why he is a perennial backup QB as he threw 3 terrible INTs, although he did hook up with CJ Spiller and Stevie Johnson for TDs. Spiller continues his quest for 2000 rushing yards with another 100 yard performance, his 5th of the season and 3rd straight. Stevie Johnson recorded his first TD of the year after being continually double teamed all year.
The defense performed well against the run as usual, only allowing 2.0 YPC to Reggie Bush, but there was no pressure on Tannehill at all. Tannehill had all day to throw and was 10/10 after the first half. This just isn't acceptable and can't be a reoccurence every week for the Bills to be successful.
It was only a 3 point game until late in the 4th when Fitzpatrick threw his 3rd INT and on the Dolphins' first play Tannehill hit the streaking Devery Henderson for an 80 yd TD that put them up 10 with 1:23 left and effectively sealed the game.
Buffalo's only two loses this season have come from Division rivals who just seem to have Buffalo's number lately. The Bills will go into the bye week gameplanning for another tough test when the Patriots come into town in Week 9. Buffalo badly needs to escape NE's stranglehold on them lately and this is the perfect time to suprise the Patriots and catch them off guard.

After the KC game and the weeks games have finished up, the team trainer determined Phillips will only be out 3 weeks with his broken collarbone, opposed to the 6 weeks the medical staff originally thought.

QB | Pharoah Phillips | Broken Collarbone - Out 3 Weeks |
This is great news for a streaking Bills team that will desperately need their dynamic, dual threat QB to make a deep playoff/championship run this postseason.
The even better news..Phillips will only have to miss 2 games due to the Bills having their bye in Week 8. Fitzpatrick will lead the troops Week 7 @ Dolphins and Week 9 vs. NE in what will be a power struggle for AFC East Supremeacy.
