Agree. If it isn't how it was before, where you can manually select custom coverage assignments, then it will be a disappointment. I want to be able to shadow the best receiver or find good matchups. Or How tight or loose my defender covers.
But, I think it would go with the old NCAA way. It would conflict with each other. It would have to be either or. If I had to choose, I want custom coverage assignments.

Yeah, Rex mentioned last year how the marketing goes and whatnot. And, I'd say, as a general rule, for most of the people in this forum, and most of the sim guys, we have to wait longer to hear the 'boring' gameplay features that have been improved or tweaked or whatnot. Last, year, they came out with write-ups in their blogs or whatnot that tended to give us the info we wanted. Ball physics, commentary, etc, all seemed to be written about a little after the back of the box stuff. I hope they have a blog or 2 before the EA play event next month, but u never know.

This is pretty much at the pace of previous Maddens. Where now info doesn't start rolling until just over 3 months prior to release. Gameplay and Modes are usually rolled in June. Presentation and Audio is around the same time. Online and MUT is around July. Usually info is done being Released Late July. Then until Release there are a lot of game videos being dropped

Yeah, I mean we do this every year. We have to remember that they don't release every single bit of info on the game on the first day.

I'm not singling anyone out, I'm just saying there tends to be a lot of thought like this every year.

Not too make too much of it but in that short Zeke clip, it looks unchanged. Again an extremely small sample size but I am not optimistic.

I like the potential of Coverage assignments maybe being that we can assign coverages that could include route types to cover - this could allow a user to assign a defender to cover a receiver we believe is going on a drag or slant route.

I am hoping the Coaching Adjustments is like what we had in NCAA where we could pick things like aggressive, balanced or conservative and they each came with pros and cons.

i have to agree there. they knew it was something highly asked for , for years now. If they intentionally worded it like this, and then thats not what it is.... man they gonna have alot of pissed off people .Not exactly what you want to do with your base.

Also the more i hear people talk about it, and the more i read, including from the guy here who used to work at EA, im not sure how much im really gonna dig this new playstyle system. I hope its makes thing better, but im already starting to come down and feel some serious doubts about it .We shall see i guess. Long time to go yet.

Also the wording of this i find odd "Choose to PLAY and manage your Franchise from your smart phone using the Madden Companion App."

I can see the manage part, like bringing back ability to sign fa, resign players, trade players, spend xp like we had before. But the wording " choose to play & manage" almost makes me wonder what we can "play" from the app.... or does it mean , choose how you play CFM and also you can manage it from app?

Hmmm is target passing like that old turbographix16 football game? You had to hold down the button and move the stick to kinda aim where the ball goes.

all this "exterior" talk with the infinity engine. I don't understand why they spent time working on the exterior when they still need to do a lot of stuff on the interior of the stadium. Interactive sidelines, refs throwing flags, players subbing in and out in real time, qb's warming up in real time on sideline, kickers warming up, etc.

I like that they made some long overdue upgrades to Play Now since thats the mode I play most, looking forward to Play Live Now and playing the real world match ups each week. Is their any chance they change the play calling screen? The current one has been stale for years now to me.

Hoping they finally add in co-ordinators and a coaching carousel.

Hopefully the passing is a rip off from NFL Fever 2004 read and lead. If so with those catch animations I'd pay the 65 and not wait for access. We'll see.

I loved that feature in NCAA football 14. Taking 3 or 4 years to develop your side of football as a coordinator and increase your reputation. Then go to your dream job and build a dynasty.
They obviously would need custom playbooks. I loved recruiting players to fit my defense/offense.

I can't find the write up, but I think I saw someone mention this is more like the tackle cone. Lol. Meaning, it's like a graphical tool to help u cover better during a play. Something to help true beginners or people who struggle to play pass d. Maybe, we also get to choose db vs wr, but I def have my doubts on this.

Yeah, here's the back of back description:

"Target Passing: For the first time ever, no longer are you tied to throwing at your open wide receiver. Throw to who you want, in the exact spot on the field with all-new Target Passing, giving you, ultimate control over where the ball is thrown."

It's like they read my mind. I wasn't going to even pay attention this year unless they did something new regarding the passing game. We've been passing the same way for two decades. Hopefully it isn't too nerfed, meaning they don't assist the user too much. I know they're weary of alienating people by making the mechanic too difficult ( we all remember how the vision cone was received ), but whatever they do, I hope completing a wide open pass isn't a given. Missing a wide open receiver on a go route, and missing out on a TD, because of an over throw on the user's end will make completing that same type of pass much more satisfying.

What's probably going to happen is that the user is still going to be able press x to throw to the x receiver ( like always ), but the targeting mechanic will also allow the user to throw anywhere they want to on the field. If that's the case, I hope using the targeting system gives a user a distinct advantage over users who choose to pass the traditional ( easier ) way.

From a gameplay perspective, maybe that means splits, positioning on release, route stem, etc. will actually matter...and hoping deep zones have been fixed
