‘The Big Aristotle’ Shaquille O’Neal Booms Back to the Court in NBA® 2K18 Legend Edition

Newly enshrined NBA Hall of Famer, dominant basketball icon and ultimate basketball big man honored on special game cover; fans to receive exclusive memorabilia and in-game content

2K today announced that NBA 2K will feature Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal on the cover of the NBA 2K18 Legend Edition. This special edition of the top-rated NBA video game simulation series for the last 16 years* gives the court to the big man who needs no introduction, “The Diesel…The Big Aristotle…Superman…Shaq Daddy…” with special Shaq-themed memorabilia and content, extending his legacy as the most dominant center in NBA history.

Quote:
“I want to thank NBA 2K for their continuous support of my basketball and broadcast career,” said O’Neal, whose Hall of Fame enshrinement late last year celebrates a storied 19-year career. “I’m excited to be on the cover of the NBA 2K18 Legend Edition and I hope my fans have a blast playing it up big man style and re-creating my most legendary in-game moments!”

O’Neal’s Legend Edition appearance on NBA 2K18 marks the third NBA 2K cover appearance for the 15-time NBA All-Star and 14-time All-NBA selection. O'Neal, who played 19 NBA seasons, was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016.

The NBA 2K18 Legend Edition and Legend Edition Gold will be available in both digital and physical formats for $99.99 and $149.99, respectively, on PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, and Xbox One. reads to me as if it will be another vc-fest. buy everything and everyone ingame for vc, although you have paid already for a full price game. awesome!

Nope, after the crap-fest of 2K17 I'm done.

That was one of the best trailer cover things I've seen. That was pretty funny!! Nice job 2k!

I don't mean to derail the thread, just a friendly reminder to many of us that we need to stop supporting this pre-order trash. Never forget all the things that have happened through the years.

And really, if they force me to spend days of my life just to grind a player OFFLINE to get it on par to play ONLINE, then no. I am done with it.

I ordered the $100 Kobe Gold Edition last year thinking it would feature reliving Kobe's greatest moments. Nope, I played 40 bucks more for a tiny poster, some cards and extra VC I never used. I traded in the game a few months later but kept the game case.

That's why I ended up going with the standard edition. The Kobe cover was cool but it was pointless to spend the extra money on content and extras that I would have no use for. And I don't know about anyone else but I don't display my game cases so what's on the front cover is meaningless. I actually forgot what the cover for 2k17 looks like. Took me a second to remember paul George was on the cover.

It will likely be exactly what you see in the first post and no additional modes.

Good for Shaq, but that price ... wow. 2K will not be the only game in town this season and, after last year's debacle (and continuing issues with the shooting tweaks they keep doing), 2K has to re-earn my money. There's no more benefit of the doubt.

I fully intend to sit out 2K18 unless they really step up their game and fix the multiple legacy issues, as well as the current issues, that 2K17 glaringly showed.

There's plenty of classic rosters and draft classes on the PC to allow me to relive just about any of Shaq's glory years, and I fully intend to do that this upcoming 2K season.

0% chance I get this game prior to the NBA season actually starting. I did that last year and barely played it for a month after the first weekend.

They're just using that extra 6 weeks before the season starts as a beta test for the game anyway.

I also have to remind all of you complaining about "the game" being $150...... that's NOT the price of 2k18. The GAME is $60. If you want to shell out extra for some VC and Shaq accessories, that's 100% optional.

I was starting to plan out setting aside money the other day for 2K18 (along with WWE 2K18) and it looks like what I was planning is out the window since I got the middle tier last year but this year, that's the price of last year's highest. Right now, I know that I'm debating it but I already know that at some point per 2K history, some announcement is going to entice me and I'm going to bite.

I was getting the game regardless, I feel one year of taking a step back doesn't erase the fun I've had over the years. One of my main thoughts right now is that with that much VC coming with the pre-order, either you're going to be able to basically near max your myplayer out of the starting attributes or the things you purchase with VC have gotten really, really expensive. Packs/boxes for MyTeam are already majorly expensive so that probably won't fluctuate too much but I really, really hope these things don't get really out of control.

You forgot about the magnet. That gigantic thing holds up my kids crappy, errr, awesome artwork on the fridge.

Can anyone tell me what a "20 Weekly MyTeam Pack" is? Is that just a standard MyTeam box, or am I bananas taking it literally by expecting a pack weekly for 20 weeks? Oh My!, maybe it's 20 packs weekly for the duration of the game? Very confused by the wording. If someone could help I'd greatly appreciate it.

I hope this means we get a better Shaq face scan. Those faces were terrible(excluding the studio Shaq)

A current player wont be on the standard cover ?

# 55 FixEverything2k @ 05/08/17 04:25 PM
hopefully this means big man defense is better, strength matters, rebounding is better, and better post moves.

Legends Edition...huh. Does this mean that 2K will finally have legend players/teams tendencies and playbooks finally accurate along with the classic arenas that should have the filter (NBA2K12)??

It's staggering how many people think they have to buy the most expensive version of the game.

I wouldn't bank on it. Last year Kobe was on the collectors edition with Paul George as the standard cover man. I don't think any of the new features or gameplay updates had anything to do with the players selected for the cover

I wouldn't read into it too much. Last year when the special edition Kobe versions were announced people were speculating that there would be additional Kobe centric Laker teams and perhaps even a Kobe mode similar to the Jordan Challenge and neither one of those theories came to fruition.

Maybe it'll be different this year but I wouldn't get hopes up. I'm taking this at face value and if it turns into something more great.
