NBA 2K18 Features Shaquille O'Neal on the Cover of Legend Edition, Ships September 15

NBA 2K18 will feature Shaquille O'Neal on the cover of the legend edition, marking his third appearance on an NBA 2K cover.

You can also watch the ad featuring Shaq, as he makes the announcement. Kobe Bryant is also in the ad.


Gamers who pre-order the NBA 2K18 Legend Edition will receive special Shaq memorabilia, in-game content, and Early Tip-Off Access beginning September 15, 2017; check out what's included in each edition below.

Newly enshrined NBA Hall of Famer, dominant basketball icon and ultimate basketball big man honored on special game cover; fans to receive exclusive memorabilia and in-game content

2K today announced that NBA 2K will feature Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal on the cover of the NBA 2K18 Legend Edition. This special edition of the top-rated NBA video game simulation series for the last 16 years* gives the court to the big man who needs no introduction, “The Diesel…The Big Aristotle…Superman…Shaq Daddy…” with special Shaq-themed memorabilia and content, extending his legacy as the most dominant center in NBA history.

O’Neal’s Legend Edition appearance on NBA 2K18 marks the third NBA 2K cover appearance for the 15-time NBA All-Star and 14-time All-NBA selection. O'Neal, who played 19 NBA seasons, was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016.

The NBA 2K18 Legend Edition and Legend Edition Gold will be available in both digital and physical formats for $99.99 and $149.99, respectively, on PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, and Xbox One. NBA 2K18 Legend Edition and Legend Edition Gold will be available in physical format on Nintendo Switch. The NBA 2K18 Legend Edition Gold physical edition is available exclusively at GameStop.

Developed by Visual Concepts, NBA 2K18 is not yet rated by the ESRB. NBA 2K18 will be available for PlayStation®4 system and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Xbox One and Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC platforms on September 19, 2017.

Standard edition for me. You can get the game and 200K VC for cheaper than the Legend edition.

What the heck are panini cards? If these were cards to get panini sandwiches at the local deli, I'd be all about it, but I highly doubt that.

If the gold edition cost $150 how much will the standard addition be, are we talking about a price jump.

As long as the standard version is still regular price, no one should even care about the $150 dollar version. I'm sure 2K has a lot of data that led them to believe that there is a market for it. We'll know for sure when we see the prices for the 2K19 special versions.

It's crazy though to read this, and know with 100% certainty that I'm not going to pre-order the game for the first time ever.

Honestly probably gonna skip 2k18 this year unless there are some major gameplay and presentation improvements confirmed

Same. I support 2K but won't be purchasing 2K18 unless I hear great things from this forum, specifically from itchy_roll, after 2 - 3 months

Definitely gonna pick up 2K18 just to check out what's up. 2K17 was a step back (personally) from 2K16, so I don't wanna be playing 2K17 anymore.

Hopefully they leak some features. That'll prove that they're brave about 2K18 and what it has to offer.

Looks like it is going to be similar to the Jordan Challenge in 2011. Based on this article you can relive all of Shaq's greatest in game moments. Hope this leads to more classic teams and players.

I like the Shaq cover hopefully this will give them a reason to have correct retro teams.

IMO they should wait until the mid or late Oct before release.

I'm so tired of 10+ players that aren't in the game or they have a CAP for some of the missing players.

The NBA season doesn't start until the end of Oct so we'll have to wait over a month before an accurate roster update.

2K17 had too many issues and legacy issues and that will determine how soon I'll get it.
I think I'll wait until the 1st patch comes out before I get it.

Last year I brought the $100 edition for a game I barely played. Idk if I should this year would have to see what features are added. My main feature hopefully added is carry over saves. I don't think I'll purchase if this is not added.

i usually preorder just for the play a few days early perk, all tbe other stuff has no interest to me....but i am leaning more towards a wait and see so i wont be preordering this time for 2 reasons...

1. i am getting the scorpio so i will stive have to wait about 2 months to get one after 2k18 releases...cause if its the same version on ps4 pro then will just get it on my pro

2. 2k17 removed my incentives to preorder sports games....

can't drop $150 for a game that's gone need some patches. Congrats to Shaq. What about one for Iverson, the O.G. cover guy? I also hope this means more love for the post game on defense and offense.
