NBA Playgrounds Releases on May 9 For $20, New Details & Gameplay Video

NBA Playgrounds is scheduled to release on May 9 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Windows PC for $20. Polygon has posted quite a few new details about the game, some of them we've listed below. Be sure to read the full article here.

Over 300 different dunks
Lottery Pick meter gives the user a random special ability for a limited time
Can be played by four people in the same room
Online 2-player head to head will be available at launch, 4-player update coming soon after launch
Post-release roster updates
Progression mechanic unlocks the entire roster gradually
Packs unlock players, each pack contains 5 players, you start off with 3 packs. THERE ARE NO MICROTRANSACTIONS!
Dunk contest and a three-point contest are scheduled to release at a later date
Charles Barkley and Kobe Bryant will NOT be on the roster

You think the game is worth purchase? (would only play online or single player, not co-op)

Agreed. It's worth $20. But the developers do have some work to do with the post-release patches.

Wall needs to be 10 in speed and stamina

It's an arcade game after all too so why not

Amazing, fun and addicting! So happy there's an alternative basketball game. Shooting jumpers and getting used to the buttons does take time but once you get the hang of it you will win games. 3 1/2 hours playing it tonight and I love it. I am happy I bought it on PS4. I can't wait to unlock the rest of the players. I did half of the tournaments with Hayward and Gobert but wreaking shop with Hayward and Stockton. So random but these were the players I unlocked in the initial packs, so I kept using them. Stockton is money from the corner 3.

Game is def good, but almost every pack i open has at least 2 to 3 duplicates in it. Yuk!!!!!!

Online is FINALLY starting to straighten out. I;m not finding games as quick as I'd like but I'm able to play multiple games back to back every night.

Sorry, also. Anyone find out what the difference is (for example) a Legend Steph Curry and the regular Steph Curry ?

I just don't see what the difference is or even the point of the whole regular, epic, legend status.

Game is beginning to piss me off the deeper into the tournament mode I go.
For the life of me I have the most difficult time blocking dunks. But let me pull a dunk on the cpu and Jamal Crawford may walk away with 2 or 3 blocks in a game.
Also the ease at which the computer strips the ball and picks it up is mind boggling. If I strip a ball or push a guy I'm rarely the one who recovers.

If it were me just being awful I'd be fine but it's not which is why it's so frustrating.

I'm thinking this is because I've got the game on Switch.

You have to pass on dunks when you see the defender behind you.

Avoiding steals you have to have the defender in front of you as much as you can, they steal a lot when they are behind you. I reset a lot from the top of of three point and beat them with a cross layup or pull up three.
