Welcome to OS!

Can you point me where this fix is. If I already started a franchise am I screwed. I was wondering why I didn't see any injuries, now I know

It's a small sample size but I didn't change my strategy when it came to pitching and the WP and PB were basically cut in half.

EDIT: Forgot to mention;
Nelson Cruz just hit 3 home runs, the furthest being a 419 foot homerun to left.

Wind: 9.8 mph, blowing across from LF to RF

Like I said its really an extremely small sample size. I've also been able to not nitpick as much as others on the site and have been able to overlook a lot of issues in the game. Today I'm specifically looking at the catcher issue and the homerun distances. I'll post more as I get through some more games.

Maybe I'm lucky.
Played about 4 more games since posting this and basically the TLDR;

It seems I am not lucky and it seems that the catcher issue is not completely fixed. Also it seems I am playing in the deadball era now.

Screwed is accurate. You can't change the 'cpu roster control' setting once a franchise is in progress. That is one of the few on/off switches that need to be set as you want it from the jump.

This option is on one of the initial screens when you first click on franchise mode.

Do we have any more conclusive data about QC games being even marginally better than pre-patch, or conclusive data that they're not?

Less than a day into the patch I don't think it's possible to have conclusive data at this point despite what some will say.

No conclusive data but in 3 games i played slightly better with manager hook low but not where it needs to be ,leaning towards sticking with full which in my opinion works fine I got a 5.0,5.2,and 6.0 on Qc but the 6 pull was up 10-1 had thrown 85 pitches. The 5.2 had thrown just 68 up 3-1.

Expecting all the settings left at 5 out of the box to work like a well-oiled machine for everyone is pretty pollyannaish, don't you think? People that continue to refuse to figure out their own best settings will continue to complain about the game not working great for them. That should surprise nobody.

As for the game "working properly" -- I can agree with you; there shouldn't be glitches and oddities. Clipping, hitches, or whatever. Sliders should have no bearing on that at all. But as far as stats and homers and stamina and most gameplay issues, clearly sliders can and should be adjusted as needed to smooth it over.

I'm not attacking you particularly with this post, but I just feel strongly about the logic of people needing to experiment sometimes to find the best settings for themselves. The idea of having all these options there to adjust and not touching them while complaining all the while is very foreign to me.
Firstly I should've put that this was coming from a guy that does use modified sliders so I get where you are coming from but for you and others to say that you have to adjust the sliders to get the game to 'work properly' (and I use that term loosely) is kind of absurd too because if you are playing online then those games are played with default sliders so I don't think it's that unreasonable to expect the game to not be as unbalanced as it can be while playing on default

I don’t understand why it was changed to this.
Actually, there were numerous mentions from people who noted that the sound of the bat striking the ball just wasn't right. It didn't take away my enjoyment of the game but it was definitely inferior to the sound from 16

I'm seeing the franchise ticker displaying the wrong info for league leaders. When Avg. Scrolls it is rbi totals, for hits it's showing avg...etc

I just saw an OSD that said AL West Standings and it showed the standings for the AL East. I thought this was directly mentioned as being fixed in the patch notes?

Smh.

How does this get through testing when they are trying to fix this to begin with?

The original problem was it did not display what category the league leaders were for.

Wow man.

Pitcher getting pulled early with QC on doesn't seem any different to me.

Feels like SDS is really having trouble with the really legacy code base for this title the past two years.

I agree. That's pretty amateur, but if they were rushin' this patch, I can understand them missing something. It's not an excuse but the reality.

Sometimes I actually wonder who is testing / coding this game. Are they all fans of baseball? Are some of 'em just working there to get a check?

I've played 4 vs CPU games today. No passed balls and no moonshot homeruns that I can recall.

Is the Chipper Jones mission fixed? I've completed the 1 hr, 4 rbi and 4 hit mission twice now without it counting.

I just went back into my LAD franchise to play the 2nd game of the SD series with QC on. Erlin gets pulled after 3.1 IP with 1 run surrendered. He had 1 out but let a man on 1st and 2nd. He had 60 pitches. He'd struck out 6 batters and walked 1.

This is basically what I saw in my first test. I had a guy get to 6 IP once and 7 IP once, but in close games, guys often got pulled after 3 and 4 innings of work, and the MRP had as many innings as the #1 starter in about a week's time.

Does that sound realistic?

I don't want to be Debbie Downer, but I don't think I can play QC like this. And full games are hard w/ 2 young kids.

Baseball stat nuts, please correct me if I'm wrong about this sort of thing seeming off. I'm admittedly still learning about baseball, but I don't remember QC working like this before. Is it now routine to yank starers in the early innings even when the starter hasn't given up more than 1-2 runs?

I haven't been able to download the patch because the family is playing Zelda. Love that game too.

Also, I agree with u 100% that home runs weren't an issue pre patch. And, frankly, because I don't use QC's I can't say I'm having problems with starting pitchers being removed too soon.

My only complaint is pitches in the dirt that result in runners advancing. While I think it needs addressing I hope they don't completely remove it. Sometimes I think folks would love to bury change ups in the dirt without repercussion.

I think my patches have always downloaded automatically. I was on taking BP against Kershaw this morning and I hope it hasn't already installed.

Were you using a specific slider set downloaded from the vault?

Has anyone started a new franchise after the patch and tested the SP problem? I started a Cardinals franchise, and the Cubs kept Arrieta in deep into the game, I think the 8th inning. He had almost 100 pitches, I think I got 6 or 7 hits off him but didn't score. Had a couple of hits late in the game, one being a leadoff double and he still wasn't pulled. This was on default sliders, All-Star level with QC on. Maybe you do need to start a new franchise? Or maybe it just happened that one game, not sure yet as I haven't played another game.
