Fire Pro Wrestling World Coming to Steam and PS4 Later This Year

A new iteration of the popular Fire Pro Wrestling series is set to debut later this year! Developer Spike Chunsoft released a video teaser video on Twitter, confirming the studio’s plans to release Fire Pro Wrestling World.

Although an official release date has not been set, it appears fans of the popular wrestling franchise can expect the game to drop early this summer. Fortunately for PC gamers, they will be able to play the game early through Steam Early Access. The early access will include online gameplay.

"After a 10-year hiatus, director Tomoyuki Matsumoto’s Fire Pro Wresting World brings the hit franchise to Windows PC and PlayStation 4, with Steam Early Access confirmed for this Summer. Building upon the core gameplay, the game will offer improved graphics, updated features and online matchmaking connecting players from around the world."

Customize every aspect of the match, from your wrestler to the ring itself, in your fight for the championship belt.

PLAY ONLINE
Organize exhibition matches, tournaments, leagues, championship bouts and battle royals with players from around the world.

MIX UP THE RULES
Modes include Deathmatch (steel cage, barbed wire or landmines), MMA rules and no-holds barred Gruesome Fighting.

UNLIMITED CUSTOMIZATION
Create your dream wrestler from over a thousand devastating moves and even more body parts to battle for custom championship belts. Personalize the ring, mat logos and even the referee!

REALISTIC SIMULATION
Give your creations personalities with a robust CPU logic system that defines their every action. Does your wrestler play to the crowd, or play dirty? You provide actors for the ringside drama.

SpikeChunsoft held a press conference in Japanese to talk more about their upcoming Fire Pro Wrestling World game and while the translations so far are a little light, there’s enough new information to really make my mouth water.

– The developers were talking about how they pitched a new Fire Pro game 7 times and were turned down each time.
– The team makes very clear they had nothing to do with the awful XBox 360 game.
– None of the defaults are based on real wrestlers.
– All moves can be renamed.
– Not sure on the final amount of new moves, but close to 100.
– MP3s for entrance music.
– Blood stays on the mat.
– At least 8 people in the ring at once.
– There’s going to be another conference June 21st.

Also worth noting that, when they were asked about a release for the Early Access, they said they weren't sure, but likely before "summer vacation," which apparently is around the 3rd week in July in Japan.

So if early access is in July than the PS4 date should be in the fall, maybe around the same time WWE 2k18 comes out. 10 years ago Smackdown VS Raw 2008 was released around the same time Fire Pro Returns came to the US.

I wonder if custom entrance music will make it to PS4. I doubt it, but MLB shows that it's possible if they build the importing into the game install file.

You are not mistaken. Fire Pro has no restrictions on inter-gender matches. Women can also bleed.

Also, as far as the PS4 release, that's just going to depend on how long the Early Access takes. It might be a longer wait than just the Fall, but if they're improving the game in that time, it's worth the wait. Not to mention that most PC's will be able to run the Steam version (I'm guessing), so most people can pick it up there instead. I'll be picking it up for both, just to support the game.

My all time favorite game series. The great thing about Fire Pro is that it's exponentially more fun to watch than to play if you're into programming the logic, and you can pretty much do a rudimentary recreation of almost any pro wrestling or combat sport style you could think of. Want to make Frank Gotch? You can do him justice in FPR. Want to sim a modern WWE style match? A UFC fight? Glory kickboxing? It's all doable if you have a bit of imagination.

Now that we have essentially unlimited edit space, the sky's the limit.

I had no idea they were also the ones behind this series.

Yeah some of the developers in Spike worked for Human Entertainment (the original developers of the series) When Human went bankrupt some of its workers formed Spike and they wound up taking the Fire Pro series with them.

What if I told you that one of the story modes had Ric Flair ("Dick Slender") murder your tag partner in the ring, tell you he kills your coach, and you accidentally kill your friend in an accident in the ring. After that you beat Flair for the championship, you stand alone in the ring and realize things then a few days later you kill yourself.

Fin.

That make it a little easier to believe?

Man, this game can't get here soon enough.

Two things I'm gonna need from you guys: 1)PS4 guys I'm gonna need you to get a real world roster together. 2) does anyone have a spreadsheet they use for a wrestling universe?

Unlimited Save Slots on PC and music importing.

Goodbye life.

As long as you can add unlimited "feds" to separate them by, I will get the wrestling roster of dreams. Era-Specific and All-Star rosters. Gonna be real easy to find the good stuff too, themes will probably be the hardest thing to find.
