Honestly the minute this was announced it became my most wanted game. It has everything I could ask for, mainly a pc version, ON STEAM(!!!!), and workshop support! The Early Access release can't come soon enough!!!

I can't wait fire pro series was one of my favorites. A little sad that there only going to be a small selection of wrestlers

Yeah, but we live in a day where you can't just make blatant rip-offs of wrestlers like you previously could. Thankfully FPW is known for it's editing and community.

I'm honestly surprised they got away with that for so long.

I actually prefer it that way. If FPW came with zero defaults I'd be just fine, provided those slots go to more edits.

My current FPR save is maxed out with over 800 real-life wrestlers from dozens of global promotions spanning multiple eras. Hopefully FPW ups the ante big time.

Trust me, the community is going to be all over this game. You'll get all sorts of packs. Specific eras, specific companies, Japan, Mexico, WWE, NXT, ROH, Impact, PWG... You'll likely get them all within the first 6 months.

Most of the guys who put the packs together for Returns right now are extremely excited to get to work.

I've never played any of the games in this series, but I have seen them mentioned over the years. Is this version worth $10 bucks on PS3? Fire Pro Wrestling Returns™ (PS2 Classic)

In my opinion, yes. But, since you've never played any of the games, $10 is an especially nice entry point for the series. Fire Pro is great, but it's not for everyone. It's quite different from the WWE games, so fair warning.

This is just one person's opinion, but based on the 1,000+ hours I've put into FPR over the years, I'd say it's worth it several times over. But honestly, you will probably want to get involved with the Fire Pro community to get the most out of it. 500 slots is a lot of rasslers and you probably won't want to make them all by yourself.

Never played any of the Fire Pro games before - how much does the game capture the "drama" of professional wrestling?

Elaborating on the question - is it a grappling-based fighting game like most wrestling games are, or are there things like: significant value to playing to the crowd; gameplay reward for working as a face or heel; executing well-timed offense to mount a comeback as opposed to having to deplete a health bar; etc. etc.?

Button mashing won't work in a Fire Pro game. You have to start with the simple moves and wear down your opponent. No crowed taunting needed.

Fire Pro is very much about the build of the match. You're rewarded for being able to plan out a strategy, going from smaller damage moves to larger damage moves. If you try to use a big move early, you'll likely be reversed. Fire Pro also relies on "Spirit," but only for those wrestlers who are setup to work that way. If you're playing as a wrestler with a lot of fighting spirit, basically you'll likely take a lot of damage early on, but be able to hold your own later in the match.

There's no real reward to working a match in the sense you're probably thinking of. But there are measures in place to make sure that matches don't just dive into using the same moves over and over again. For example, if you try to strike your opponent with a punch or kick, and you miss... each time you miss, you'll lose more stamina, therefore getting tired quicker. There's actually a button to "breathe," so you might need to find a time to throw your opponent outside and catch a quick breath. This also goes for running, and running will drain you even quicker.

There are no visible health or stamina bars, so the game requires you to really keep track in your mind of how much damage you've taken and how much you've dealt out. The grappling is all timing-based, so the only times you'll be mashing buttons is in a submission, test of strength, or trying to kick out of a pin.

Yeah, Steam Early Access should be out by the end of June. I wouldn't expect PS4 for a while, though. They're going to be adding things to the game based off the feedback from those that play the Early Access. Then the PS4 version has to go through certification and all that, so it probably won't be out for another few months after the Early Access release.
