MLB The Show 17 Video - The Little Things: Part 2

GameStop has just posted their MLB The Show 17 MLB Monday (on a Wednesday). This is part 2 of The Little Things. If you missed part 1, click here.

Below are some of the details, but make sure to check out the full video here.
  • New art for all pitching mechanics, includes timing feedback.
  • Improved AI logic for pitcher substitutions.
  • 5 new fonts in the DD logo editor.
  • 30 new legends this year.
  • 11 teams now have a total of 11 uniform sets.
  • New player, pitcher and rookie of the month awards in season based game modes.
  • Major overhaul in universal profile with more customization, stat tracking, new achievements and all-new leveling and awards system.
  • Ken Griffey Jr. will chime in on your play in Retro Mode.

I said the Brewers in my post but FYI I believe the gold alternates have been dropped. Don't think they were worn in 2016. The brewers alternates should easily be the Brewers navy top the Milwaukee navy top and the retro Friday jerseys. That would give them 11 uniforms.

My bad, I completely missed that. I know they stopped wearing the Gold alts but that doesn't mean they dropped them from the style guide. I have always wanted those in The Show.

Arizona and San Diego should easily have the most jerseys but both could also easily be missing a jersey as well. Here's how...

San Diego has home white, road gray, navy alt, Friday retro brown alt, and both the blue Navy camp and the brown Marine camo. Last year they also regularly wore the 98 navy and orange uniforms at Wednesday home games. That makes 7 current uniforms. If 12 slots is the max this year then likely the Wednesday throwback or one of the two camo uniforms get cut. It's also possible the Wednesday throwback gets put in the throwback slots but then again I haven't seen any evidence that any throwback slots were changed this year.

Arizona has the home white, road gray, teal trimmed home alternate, teal trimmed road alternate, red top, black top, 2001 throwback vest, and Hispanic Heritage Los DBacks jersey. The 01 throwback is in the throwback slots. The Hispanic jersey seems non existent in the game thus far.

Obviously those two teams have too many jerseys so this is okay but just pointing these things out.

Oh yeah good point. Just reminded me that the black Mets jersey stayed in The Show for years after they were dropped in reality.

The two questions I want to ask tomorrow on the stream - are the same stat overlays for Franchise also in RttS and are there new records to break?

The streams are great but the chat is very busy and difficult to get a question answered.

Rumors are it ''might'' replace the blue ones, but no confirmation yet.

With jersey additions, I believe it can now be officially said, there is no reason to play MLB 2K over the Show any longer.

To add on to this:

- Most of spring training jerseys are identical to most teams alternates that already in the game. There are a few exceptions. So it would have been less work to add these then the new BP warmups.

- The BP warmups will never be worn an any games. So without a warmup mode the these jerseys are essentially useless in the game.

All in all, the extra jersey slots that have been added are awesome and I know all of us uniform guys appreciate the work that has been done in this area this year.

To be fair I think there are two things the devs are shying away from with the spring jerseys... the patches that say the year and the spring training patterns on the names and numbers. Apparently those things are released too late for them. If I were them I'd just not put the patches or patterns in at all. It's the jersey designs that we want, not the patches and patterns.

For the Royals, 2nd top row is Home for sure. The next 3 are probably something like Alt 1,2 and 3

Exactly. The patterns are not really that visible anyway

Scratch that the BP jerseys changed or one of them last year too late. Anyway the ST jersey's are not even in the style guide and they don't get released until January to begin with and that's way too late for our pipeline. So I wouldn't expect them to be included anytime in the near future.

Actually there is ONE little thing that would give the BP jerseys a purpose...allowing us to choose to wear them in the Practice modes, which is what they're really for in reality anyways.

This screen raises a question someone else brought up earlier.

Notice how it has things labeled as Road and Away. Other teams they have shown previously have ALT Home and others are ALT 1 or ALT 2. What I'm getting at is there is no uniformity in the selection screens. I wonder if the "select individual items" screen allows you to pick other uniform elements and save a combination as a "uniform set" and you can save it under a name of your choosing.

...just a thought
