NBA 2K17 News Post

NBA 2K17 patch 1.04 arrived earlier this afternoon for PlayStation 4 users, the official patch notes have just been revealed. Check them out below and let us know what you're seeing.

The same patch is coming soon for Xbox One and PC. While no official release date has been given, they typically arrive a week later, give or take a couple of days.

UPDATE: (10-12) The patch is available now for PC users.

UPDATE: (10-14) The patch is available now for Xbox One users, weighing in at 2.61 GB.

GENERAL
  • Corrected an issue where some postrelease uniform colors would clash with the opposing team’s uniform in certain matchups.
  • After a made basket, the score will no longer update on the scoreboard until after the animation has completed; this should be much less confusing.
  • Fixed a case where your friends list in the Who’s Online menu would disappear while viewing it.
  • Contact Dunk animations should now properly stay equipped on your MyPLAYER.
GAMEPLAY
  • The Relentless Finisher badge should now give the proper bonuses on contact layups when leveling it up.
  • Fixed an extremely rare hang that could occur when a player was attempting to grab a rebound.
MyPARK/2K PRO-AM
  • Fixed a case where certain jump shot animations would result in the shot meter reporting an incorrect very late timing during high-latency situations.
  • Addressed an issue where you would not be granted a win if your opponent disconnected during a Pro-Am Walk-On/Team game under certain conditions.
  • Users in Ante-Up will now always be presented with the correct ante-up amount prior to joining the Got Next queue.
MyCAREER/MyCOURT
  • Corrected a case that would result in loading into a black screen heading into a game.
  • Connection events will now always appear on the schedule once you agree to them/set them up.
  • Addressed a hang that could occur when attempting to enter the 3PT/Dunk Contest when your MyPLAYER was injured.
  • Fixed a hang that could occur when loading into a Live Practice when a number of players on your team were simultaneously injured.
NOTE: All patch fixes will work in your existing game mode saves.

Man not even a mention of MyLeague. I really think we underestimate how much these MyTeam/Park modes make these companies. You can see the priorities.

Exactly. I hate that it is this way, but business is business. If they are forced to alienate any part of the fan base, it's not going to be the money making modes, because they can't please everyone and that's understandable.

Now, if we get to the end of the year and MyLeague, gameplay, etc hasn't been attended to, then I think we can really start to get upset. As of now, it's just too early. We have to understand that most of us here at OS are in the minority. Sure, it sucks, but that's the way that the game has evolved.

If they are so much about profit & a even a tad bit concerned with their original sim-fan base, they would just go ahead and make two separate games.

Most of those MyPark / MyTeam heads don't even touch the actual NBA players / roster, let's be honest (Wish someone would chime in honestly & admit that).

Two separate games would serve their profit needs, the sim players needs & the "whatever-you-call-MyPark-Guys" needs.

Merging them into one has been a disaster and has given no one a full installment of what they expect.

Game-play wise it feels different and much improved after the patch. I was complaining relentlessly before that whenever I took a jump hook in the paint that it would feel it was a guarantee basket, but not anymore! CPU post defenders seem to be more aware and contest the hook shots better leading to more misses and realistic % of hook shots going in. That was my biggest gripe and I am glad they have addressed this since I felt like it was a cheat knowing my hook shots would always go in pre-patch.

There seems to be more contact in the paint now and the defense in protecting the paint playing against the CPU offline is much improved for the opposing team.

Shooting percentage seems to be lower and at a more realistic % as well post-patch.

For me, the fun is back playing against the CPU now. I stopped playing NBA 2K17 for a bit because it was too easy to score but now I believe that the gameplay is altered for the better.

Does this also fix the hang/pause from having custom logo's, sometimes when the logo comes up for your team to show stats, the game freezes for a second.

I hear you, Ronyell. I really think if it was strictly up to the devs that we would get a game more catered to the sim fans, however, sadly, they are not completely in charge and still have to listen to orders from those on top, and because the people giving the orders are all about the money, we lose as sim fans. It's sad, but it's not going to change.

This patch really does nothing. I'm still surprised how the scoreboard would change before the shot went in. Now I have to wait 10 years to get this average patch on both X1 and PC 🙄

Thank you, finally someone on here that is not blind, anyone with common sense know that 2k never list everything in patch notes, the CPU defense has improved, a lot better awareness, shooting percentage is down. ANY One who expected this patch to fix everything is stupid, we all know the big patch wont be released until mid November.

Glad you chimed in to let us know to not be blind. I am on X1 as are a lot others in here. As oppose to that type of comment could you please outline a little more detailed what you are seeing post-patch. It'd be greatly appreciated.

Just decided to chime in and say contact and alley packages aren't fixed, everytime I equip them they reset, kinda sucks with me being a slasher

So it's not just me! I assumed this was just the result of my slow hard drive. I've been playing exclusively with expansion teams so it makes sense why I keep seeing it. Yeah I'd love to hear a report on this.

But you have to understand why things are going in the order that they are. They are going to fix the bugs and glitches first, and then get to gameplay, MyLeague, etc..The money making modes will always have priority, and with the high amount of problems the game launched with, it's going to take some time to address each issue.

I was very hard on 2k when I got 2k17 and I honestly haven't even played that much due to the poor AI, but I've recently come around to understanding that it might take some time for them to figure out how to fix the issues. It's not like they have a magic button to press that fixes things and then they can immediately patch it. Yes, it's disappointing, we all want the game playing to it's potential, but it's not realistic to expect all of our concerns to be patched within a few weeks of release, and the last thing we want is a cheap band-aid fix for things.

I'm not sure exactly when the "big" gameplay patch has come out in the past, but I think it's safe to assume that we will get it right around when the NBA season kicks off, or shortly after.

I have to give credit to the devs for already having put out 4 patches, they are obviously working hard to get things in order, even if the things that you or I want patched have not been patched yet.

Keep hope alive [emoji1478]

Couldn't agree more, used to be able to shoot hook shots at about a 70 percent clip, and that's not possible anymore.

I keep forgetting that a lot of these posts are from people on xb1. If you guys play offline, you're going to be pleasantly surprised with how the game feels.

example, I tried to turbo across the half court and call for 3 charges, my momentum cause this the CPU is not playing off you like before.

I was pretty happy with the game anyway.

A lot of the complaints come from posters who have 1-2 minor (usually cosmetic) issues who are simply the loudest and post the most. That creates an air of negativity around the game.

wonder if they can fix the issue when equipping newly released shoes to old rosters, not every time new shoe/s are released we have to make a new roster

haha I used to get in shoot hook shots at about 90-100% of the time. That alone completely turned me off of the game knowing I can exploit/cheat this at will. But now I am getting 40-50% of hook shots going in which is a big difference.

76ers are a 43% team in the actual NBA, and I was getting those numbers before Beluba re-tuned the tuning.

It's just one game, but the offline version of this game is going to need it's own 7gb patch.
I had high shooting % pre-patch as well playing on All-Star so I switched up to Superstar without alterations on the sliders. It's a big difference in difficulty IMO.
