NBA 2K17 News Post

NBA 2K17 patch 1.04 arrived earlier this afternoon for PlayStation 4 users, the official patch notes have just been revealed. Check them out below and let us know what you're seeing.

The same patch is coming soon for Xbox One and PC. While no official release date has been given, they typically arrive a week later, give or take a couple of days.

UPDATE: (10-12) The patch is available now for PC users.

UPDATE: (10-14) The patch is available now for Xbox One users, weighing in at 2.61 GB.

GENERAL
  • Corrected an issue where some postrelease uniform colors would clash with the opposing team’s uniform in certain matchups.
  • After a made basket, the score will no longer update on the scoreboard until after the animation has completed; this should be much less confusing.
  • Fixed a case where your friends list in the Who’s Online menu would disappear while viewing it.
  • Contact Dunk animations should now properly stay equipped on your MyPLAYER.
GAMEPLAY
  • The Relentless Finisher badge should now give the proper bonuses on contact layups when leveling it up.
  • Fixed an extremely rare hang that could occur when a player was attempting to grab a rebound.
MyPARK/2K PRO-AM
  • Fixed a case where certain jump shot animations would result in the shot meter reporting an incorrect very late timing during high-latency situations.
  • Addressed an issue where you would not be granted a win if your opponent disconnected during a Pro-Am Walk-On/Team game under certain conditions.
  • Users in Ante-Up will now always be presented with the correct ante-up amount prior to joining the Got Next queue.
MyCAREER/MyCOURT
  • Corrected a case that would result in loading into a black screen heading into a game.
  • Connection events will now always appear on the schedule once you agree to them/set them up.
  • Addressed a hang that could occur when attempting to enter the 3PT/Dunk Contest when your MyPLAYER was injured.
  • Fixed a hang that could occur when loading into a Live Practice when a number of players on your team were simultaneously injured.
NOTE: All patch fixes will work in your existing game mode saves.

We actually got some back on forth on it last year, and they tuned contracts a bit in one of the patches (was not possible to do in a tuning update). Unfortunately they were still pretty bad after that tuning.

Especially with turty11's player automation tool being so damn good/useful, you'd think it wouldn't be a big deal to improve player generation. Hell, it can even be done (at least to some extent) in a roster update, so let's hope.

They've acknowledged team training, and I remain hopeful it will be addressed in the next patch.

On to the next patch, then. If the schedule holds, once we get this patch on PC, PS4 should get the next patch a week later. *sigh*
They actually made an update on Steam today! They updated the game's Metacritic score from 91 to 90.

Defense feels no different. Just ran a game online. The main thing I wanted to see addressed was the timeout Pro-Am glitch and seeing your POE stay highlighted after you select them. Haven't played Pro-Am yet, but the latter wasn't touched.

Well, I think we already see from the way they did comms with release and the way this was handled today, they don't target any communications to sim players or OS types.

So for us, looking at these notes is like

There may be more to learn if Beluba shows up. But the trend to neglect us in comms is not a good sign.

I keep going back to this, but their decision to muzzle Czar and OG (even though they added a ton of content to the game that forced a wholesale reconfiguration of how difficulty works in the game) was not random, and not a very promising sign for this community.

Honestly, more surprised they bothered to update the score to something lower.

I have to say, my paranoia and concern are both increasing the closer we get to October 20th. That will be officially be 1 month from the official (non-early tip off weekend) release and the patches, though frequent, don't seem to be addressing the OS community's main concerns.

The lack of communication on the majority of these concerns to the community also does little to make me feel better. Beluba and Leftos have done a good bit of communication (Beluba largely), Sim's checked in every now and then, and they should be commended.

But really, you'd think with all the VC people are buying they could afford to hire a PR guy who regularly communicates with the community, rather than letting the patch notes release on a 2K stream.

Well, this seems like a waste of bandwidth. I can only imagine if they were to patch actual real things that the patch file size would be bigger than the full game 50GB digital download. lmao

I guess we xbox1 users have to wait another 300 years again for the patch.

Well one of the devs did say they will be addressing some gameplay issues in patch 1.05 and this was like two weeks ago.... So I guess we wait

I'd like to know if the lead passing cheese in the paint has been fixed. That's the biggest issue in the game right now.

I know it is frustrating and disappointing for us offline guys who are waiting for a big gameplay patch, but we have to be patient. I truly believe our gameplay concerns will eventually be addressed, especially given the quick addition of patches so far this year. But you have to understand why things are going in the order that they are. They are going to fix the bugs and glitches first, and then get to gameplay, MyLeague, etc..The money making modes will always have priority, and with the high amount of problems the game launched with, it's going to take some time to address each issue.

I was very hard on 2k when I got 2k17 and I honestly haven't even played that much due to the poor AI, but I've recently come around to understanding that it might take some time for them to figure out how to fix the issues. It's not like they have a magic button to press that fixes things and then they can immediately patch it. Yes, it's disappointing, we all want the game playing to it's potential, but it's not realistic to expect all of our concerns to be patched within a few weeks of release, and the last thing we want is a cheap band-aid fix for things.

I'm not sure exactly when the "big" gameplay patch has come out in the past, but I think it's safe to assume that we will get it right around when the NBA season kicks off, or shortly after.

I have to give credit to the devs for already having put out 4 patches, they are obviously working hard to get things in order, even if the things that you or I want patched have not been patched yet.

Of course my 2 concerns weren't changed at all
1. The animation where the ball hits the rim on a shot and bounces over the backboard. This DOES NOT HAPPEN 5 TIMES IRL IN A GAME THAT GOES TO 21!
2. I play as a bigman and don't try to be a point guard. I know the limitations of my player. BUT why is the ball always IMMEDIATELY stolen or swatted away as soon as I get the ball in the low post or near the basket? THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN IRL. I understand steals are more likely if I'm DRIBBLING. But if I've just caught the ball, I shouldn't have it immediately swatted away by a pint sized PG. This does not happen to Drummond, Howard, Shaq, Deandre in real life.

Yes these are mostly Park/Proam complaints

I feel like with 2k, they've regressed this console generation. I legitimately felt they were close to perfection at one time during the past generation, but now I feel like they've made change for change sake and gotten off that path along the way. They're nailing the authentic pageantry and aren't doing the top notch job I'd become accustomed too in the functionality aspects of the game. It feels soulless and I really feel like it's borderline unplayable. At one time I thought their competitor was done because the trajectory 2k was on, but now I feel like the door is wide open.

Played BlackTop (MyTeam) and Online Play Now, the gameplay is different. Defense is easier to control, I am not sliding all over, fumbling my fingers. I made a turbo cheeser quit because he couldn't get into the paint. I like the shooting percentages.

Please no more patches!!!!

This is what it is. Just waiting for patch 1.05 at this point...

Defense. Highlight of all this was seeing Mikes post that the other side of the ball is being addressed.

I hope online players are enjoying it, since sim players lost their title to them. Oh wait...they're not.
Damn a hockey game????
