Is it even worth $19.99

$19.99 would be the sweet spot for me, just don't expect anything super-deep or visually amazing. But for $20 you could fire it up every now and then, tweak some setups, race online or for lap times/Speed Ratings and still get your money's worth, I would think.

The fact that that's even a question is your answer. Most of the YouTube channels I watch that focus on racing games gave up on this game long ago.
Also have to take into account if/when the next one comes out.

Tweeted pic is Harvick's Busch car. Fingers crossed this is more than just paint schemes.

As a Harvick fan, I am stoked for the Busch scheme! I'd really love a roster update for 2017 but I doubt that happens. Removing their cover athlete from the game wouldn't be wise, I'd figure. Hopefully there will another patch along with schemes too.

I hope its more than schemes. Hopefully it's updated rules, and a patch to add some of the most needed features into the game.

Given the way things have gone though, I wouldn't be surprised if it's another paid DLC paint scheme pack for the start of the 2017 season.

I'm sure there was a reason they released it halfway through last season seemingly unpolished, but ideally this is when they should have released this game. Right before the season gets up and running so they can at least have the drivers roster, and rules packages correct for the player to use through the entire season. To me, it's odd to release a sports game part way through the season. I want it at the start when my excitement for the sport is high, and the game is fresh with the rules and roster/paint schemes.

Not to mention they released it at the same time as eight other sports games, still not sure about the logic behind this.

And I may be reading too much into this, but "we're not done with 2016" does somewhat suggest that a sequel is in the works.

EDIT: New paint schemes. Oh well, at least they're free:

Looks like we are going to get 2017 schemes. I'm hoping for more though, guess we'll find out tomorrow!

Hard to believe they'd send out two press releases about paint schemes within a week, although anything is possible I suppose. Looks like SHR moving to Ford is a given, but it's the Monster logo on the hood that gives me hope that at least the new Cup sponsorship and new branding are going to be implemented.

Sean Wilson is a dmr rep to follow. Appears he answers lots of questions. Looks like this 2017 stuff won't be free, ugh.

Cool, thanks for the info. He says the 2017 update will be more than the standard drop of paint schemes, so there's that.

Also:

"But the next full game won't be discussed until June most likely."

That would fall in line with another September release.

I guess they want to capitalize on the playoffs by putting the game out then, but I feel the best time to release is around the Daytona 500. Such a shame they want to go up against the Madden and 2k games.

Seems odd they would give us a 2017 update on the current game and release a new full game with the same stuff in the same year. I just hope this is their way of saying a game will be released every other year with DLC to update the game before the next game. Could mean they just say in June that a new game won't come out until Feb 2018 and that paint scheme packs for 2017 will continue to be released up to that point.

Looks like $9.99 for 2017 schemes, schedule, and drivers. I haven't bought any DLC to this point and was hoping this would be free too, so I doubt I get this, as bad as I want it.

# 218 Turbojugend @ 02/13/17 06:44 PM
So, NHE: Victory Edition basically. That's okay, seems like a new game is almost a given at this point, guess we'll have to hold tight and wait 'til June.

I'm happy they updated the visuals for 2017 and rearranged the schedule but I'm kind of on the fence about the price; $4.99 would've been more attractive. The new rules would've made it worth $9.99 but I understand that they had so little time to implement that with the real-life changes only being in January, that and it would probably take a lot of under the hood work to get it to operate properly.

Sean Wilson gave a reasonable response as to why the 2017 update doesn't include multiplayer. I can't say I totally agree with it but it's understandable.

As for NHE 2017/18, again I'll say (and I see others that agree) wait until February 2018. Have the new rules, track changes, alternate schemes, etc for 2017 in the vanilla release and have a day-one update such as this one for 2018. Release monthly or bi-monthly packs with alternate schemes and challenges. Most importantly, take the time to improve!

Well, we can all forget about the taking their time and planning on an early 2018 release.

https://twitter.com/TheSeanWilson/st...45208620421129

(If you're not familiar, Mr. Wilson is the executive producer of the NHE series.)

Nothing on the "official" feed besides this:

https://twitter.com/dmrnascarheat/st...73598559690754

Time will tell if they plan on implementing anything the fans have asked for or if they're actually going to improve anything. We can suppose that they'll add the new race format, points system and other rules and I speculate that they'll add new challenges and alternate paint schemes from this year but we'll have to wait and see.

Really makes the 2017 DLC update seem even weirder.
