Madden NFL 17 News Post

EA released an update to Cloud CFM's in Madden NFL 17 with increased upgrade costs for physical ratings, and draft classes being better tuned to match base rosters in the game. The newly tweaked draft classes will take affect the season after your current season (or your next generated draft class).

The updates rolled out yesterday morning and should be in effect for all Cloud Based CFMs. If you are running a CFM offline, you will have to wait for the next patch for the changes to take place within your game.

How big of a difference are the changes making from what you are seeing? Let us know in the comments!

Just because people came into this thread and said OMG 6'4 CB does not mean it was a common happening in drafts. It wasn't. I loved the drafts the way they were, but I guess people complained and got their way.
Going by real world experience, about a third to half your number one draft picks (even after scouting) should end up being scrubs, and most teams should not have a rookie starting. To put it another way, it should be very possible for a team to go through the draft and not end up with any valuable or useble (as a starter) players. Neither was true with draft classes before the adjustment.

This is a great change. It really makes development of players much more important, and allows young real life NFL players rated in the mid-upper 60s - lower 70s to be useful and have careers in CFM. Before being able to get 4-5 guys rated above 70 and into the mid-upper 70s in every draft, those real life players were pushed out of the league after a season or two.

I did not get a big enough sample size to have an educated opinion on the matter (have only done 3 drafts); but simply going by the "drafts studs/freaks" thread you tell that there are lots of players that fit these specs, and those are just the ones with good ratings.

For reference, in each of those 3 drafts I had at least two WR and one CB that fit those freak specs. That's a bit two often compared to real life.

If you look at all nfl rosters today, or heck even for the past 5 years, I think you could count in one hand how many 6'4" CB you'll find, same with megatron type receivers. And this is regardless of their skill level.

I'm looking forward to the offline patch to see what real effects the tweaks had on ratings overall.
yep, way too many 6'5 and 6'6 WR in the madden draft classes.

How about fixing the glitch where if you have camera toggle set to off on online CFMs and have camera set to standard you are forced to play the game in zoom mode

Maybe i'm not sure how the draft classes work but it seems as though scouting is only purposeful to find out who NOT to draft rather than who to actually draft. It seems as though there is only like 1 or 2 players per position worth drafting.

Did this come out before, during or after that Roster update on 9/9?

Do tall CB's still exist in draft classes? I've done 5 drafts since patch. Have not seen one CB over 6'2". I'm fine with them being a rarity, but I'm beginning to think they have been completely removed.

@Steel7city09 there is no information about any title updates right now. You'll know when we do
They're not going to say a peep until it is at the very least, in certification, and probably not until it goes live.

The problem with draft classes was not freaks.

The problem was that the classes were way to deep. Someone ran a test where they simmed seasons and compared overall ratings. 1st rounders had an overall of 77, 2nd rounders were 76, and I believe the 3rd and 4th rounders average overall was above 70 (4th may have been 68).

Compared to the mid to late round picks in the 2016 draft class, the OVRs of the mid to late round picks in the new draft classes may still be on the average 2 to 4 points too high, but I would need to see more data to be sure.
