Idk it just baffles my mind how this game can be so detailed but yet they can't seem to get something as basic as player models down. Most players in the NBA don't have huge traps like NFL players but in 2K they do. Most players in the NBA have broad pronounced shoulders but in 2K they don't. This type of stuff really puts a damper on the game for me. I get that it doesn't bother some people but I'm big on authenticity & immersion. Player models need to be top priority next year.
I actually don't believe muscle definition is in the game. There's bulky body types but not defined or "ripped" from what I've seen.

That seems to be the underlying issue.

But yes, next year perhaps. From a playable cam hopefully it softens the blow for you bro.

I hear ya but I'm just gonna make peace with it with fingers crossed for 2K18.

I'd like to see Iggy. He'd be a good indication.

I'm with you on this. It's like they're going backwards in progress and not forwards. 2K14 had everyone skinny, 2K15 they made some progress, 2K16 had some too big, 2K17 is a mix between 2K14 and 2K16. It doesn't make sense that a better body type is available in game, but they choose something totally wrong for most of them.

This may be the first year that I skip a NBA 2K game if they can't patch this stuff.

You guys have to think in business terms 2k is in bed with ps4 and Xbox One so their screwing up player models up on purpose on the current consoles so when the ps4 neo and Xbox Scorpio come out people will be like wow look at the graphical jump from the current consoles. Player Models will be on point, player detail, photorealistic faces, you got to be a fool to not think 2k holding back graphically, people would jump at the opportunity to abandon the current consoles and game to upgrade to ps4 Neo and Xbox One since it is a cartoon direction 2k is heading in, for photorealistic graphics knowing we had that already in 2k14.

It's fine to criticize the models, but to say 2k is going backwards is one of the most preposterous things I've read.

That's a stretch. The Neo and Scorpio aren't even going to be huge leaps ahead graphically speaking anyway.

Let's throw faking the moon landing on 2k while we're at it.

Just think about how cell phones work nowadays you download a app than the app comes out with new features but you have to upgrade to the new iPhone, android to get it and you upgrade. Just think in business terms 2k is in bed with ps4 and Xbox One this is all a plan to upgrade consoles, Easports is involved also.

That isn't always just so they can add incentive to upgrade though. Sometimes that's due to how rapidly technology is advAncing right now and how much the consumer is demanding it be upgrading.

Trust me, they wouldn't be be putting out annual improvements if the consumer wasn't demanding it. Just like this would be solved if 2k went every other year. It'd fix a ton of these issues, but we wouldn't like it.

Lol do you actually believe that ? Everytime they add something they have to sacrifice something else as shown by 2K15 and 2K16 compared to 2K14. Theses consoles are giving all they've got especially since they want to maintain 60 fps wich they just are barely able to do.

That's the only conclusion I can come to, because there's no way their art department can be this incompetent. And if they are, then whoever is in charge of the bodies needs to be fired.

Come on, Man! If you can do better, then I would highly recommend putting in a job application. Otherwise, you got to chill with this talk every chance you get. Heaven forbid if they "mess up" the Bucks. We might have to talk you away from a ledge somewhere.

It could be as easy they got to who they had time to get to this year, and they'll get to more in NBA 2K18. There have been improvements in the player models which should CLEARLY indicate that they're working on them. There have been improvements in the arena lighting which should CLEARLY indicate they're working on them.

At this point, you just need to decide whether or not you're going to skip 2K17 due to the player models.

I agree, some people remind me of that South Park episode where Stan only sees the bad in things and everything looks like crap.

I'm going to put it in simple terms so you guy can understand me better, 2k is in a position where they don't have to give major improvements especially correct player models. Just think if 2k gave us everything we wanted player models and modes what would give us the reason to update. For example I purchased WWE 2k16 as a casual gamer I downloaded over 300 Created Wrestlers that are more detailed than the on disc models do you think I'm going to upgrade to WWE 2k17 knowing I got the roster I wanted, heck no let me remind you I'm a casual gamer. Just put that into perspective if NBA 2k gave us similar abilities to update our created players like WWE 2k there will be casual NBA 2k gamers satisfied with that current game and not want to upgrade, that's bad for business. You have the best game developers in NBA 2k you telling me they can't get a player model correct, no they can its just bad for business. Watch when Neo and Scorpio come out how player models are correct on one system and not the other, just watch and everybody going willfully upgrade consoles because they don't think.

Best post I've read on OS in a while. I've been thinking the exact same things for a while. That's real talk and makes perfect sense.

See, I'm down with them making the appropriate changes and all, but this is when you start to go beyond just being constructive.

No one needs to lose their job or is "incompetent," but they do need to add more body types, fix the one's that look bad and such.

It sucks to say this, but people need to realize that this is a video game on a one-year development cycle so things will be missed. And I'm saying all that knowing damn well that most of the accessories issues (which I care about) won't be addressed. That's life.....

Oh damn. You actually believed what you posted earlier.

Let's put some perspective on this. First off, it's a short development cycle. They only have so much time and resources to fix old stuff and give gamers something new.

Second, the Neo and Scorpio are capable of delivering more "power" to the graphics due to the hardware. If the player models are better on the new systems, it's due to the hardware simply being able to handle it. It's not, because 2K Sports was holding back on the quality of their product. What company does that???

Lastly, a large group of people are going to buy the game every year on the simple premise that 2K Sports turns off the server on the previous title. Unless you're a die hard offline gamer, people are going to want to play the newest roster and continue playing My Park.

Yay. Now we're creating conspiracies.

# 619 Vni @ 08/28/16 02:03 PM
All you're gonna get with the new PS4 is better anti aliasing, better framerate maybe a better resolution and that's about it. Game will look sharper, and will be smoother. Other than that it will be the exact same game.

But honestly even if they could (wich they canno't in such a short cyle) they would have no interest in releasing the perfect (authentic NBA sounds, 100% accurate body models, authentic arena specific lighting etc etc) basketball game this year. That's why I'am doubtful we're getting great sound effects this year, they haven't emphasized that at all.

That is a completely ludicrous post that you quoted, Gab.

They have financial and time constraints that limit what can be added and fixed. People need to realize that these are video games that involve a ton of programming and other technical stuff that takes large amounts of time. Fixing one thing could in fact screw up some other aspect of the game.

They have come a long way since last gen alone visually, but clearly the community doesn't want them to "rest on their laurels," but people need to also understand that they are human and changes/improvements take time.
