This...

Thats what I was just getting at... Chriss may have more potential in terms of upside but Valentine deserves the higher rating based off his college performance

Lack of competition helps because they essentially have a monopoly on the market. To starve it's most raving fans of information is not good will.

The marketing... Or lack there of is not the reason. 3 weeks out from release and I have to rely on shaky video and a couple of sparse articles?

Good thing there is no deadline for deciding whether or not to buy a game.

I understand 2K is late when it comes to releasing info and gameplay videos but even if nothing dropped until the day before release (which would never happen) most of us would still be buying the game AS LONG AS everything looked good.

2K does this almost every year so I guess I've just grown to accept it. Plus once those developer blogs start releasing they are usually loaded with information and well worth the wait. In fact I feel like people on here become apologetic once the news drops: "sorry I doubted you 2k!" "OMG this sounds awesome well worth the wait!" "September 16th can't get here soon enough!"

Especially when you take into account badges. Take a player like JR Smith for example. His overall rating likely won't indicate what he is or is not capable of. That's where individual ratings and badges come in. JR Smith is a good shooter and scorer and there are nights he can light it up and look almost unguardable. But the next night he might not be able to throw a rock in the ocean and will play sloppy. You're not going to be able to look at an overall rating and determine if he will perform properly and accurately in the game.

As long as ratings aren't egregiously off I'm fine with them. I mean can anyone play and honestly tell the difference between, say, a player who is 73 and a player who is 75 or 76?

I think it's fine to say individual ratings and overall ratings both should matter.

Overall should in theory show the overall value that a player has.

Obviously the calculation to that overall can be different. J.R. Smith is a perfect example. Extremely dangerous because he could go off for 30 on any given night. If he scores less than 10 he is pretty much useless, though.

The most complete overall Center currently is Towns... Cousins is great but his defense is substandard at best... I wouldn't trust him to guard a snail much less guard the PnR...

I'm speaking off advanced stats and the eye test...

Watching Cousins get burned in Olympic play repeatedly in high PnR made it even more evident... He couldn't stay in front of anyone...
lol wut, Boogie is better than towns currently, that could change this year tho. cousins is a very good defender surrounded by a bunch of putrid defensive players. and who cares about his play in the olympics lol. tim duncan had trouble playing in the olympics(didn't really care for it lol)

I think they're close, but I would probably give the edge to Cousins right now. I do think that could change by the end of the year, though.

Stil off but why always go for the picture where the players are the biggest they've ever been to compare ?

I'm not mad at most of these ratings, i think KAT and drummond are fair.

Curious to see star players like lebron, KD, westbrook...

Usually when you see that discoloration between the face and skin color it means it's an old face scan. It looks off because they didn't apply the resources of their current technology. There's going to be at least 10 players that this happens too and even more that are free agents because it's hard to get a hold of them for a face and body scan.

Cousins is a decent individual lowpost defender... His PnR defense is abysmal because he has limited lateral quickness... The Olympics does matter because its inferior competition and you should not be in foul trouble the whole time guarding PnR... Great two-way Centers can clean up teammates mistakes at the rim...

Nah, Olympics don't matter because if it did, Klay's shooting numbers would be down much more lol

Thats a different aspect of basketball... That has to do with the size of the FIBA Basketball for international competition which is smaller than the NBA basketball... That greatly affects shooting ability
