IGN has posted some NBA 2K17 features, including details on revamped rebounding, fatigue and steal systems, along with improved lighting and graphics.

Visual Concepts has also done some work on the rebound system to make it closer to real life basketball. “Last year, pretty much every rebound was caught cleanly by a defender,” Blumberg said. “That doesn’t happen in basketball all the time. There’s a lot of fighting for the ball, it gets tipped around, and it’s a physical part of the game.” He told us that players will see the ball get tipped around more as players crash the backboards. You can tap the ball over to a teammate if you’re unable to pull bound a rebound yourself. We even saw an offensive player catch the ball and take a shot in mid-air. Blumberg said stealing the ball also had a significant revamp, so it’s not abused as much as it was last year’s games.
Still finding it hard to get excited. Hate how that article made a big mention of the Dream Team and Team USA being in like it's a major part of this year's game. If that's the case, then that's a major disappoint. We've had those teams before, and playing with them really isn't that great.
Ehh it's an article on ign. They arent going to get into the real nuts and bolts that OSer's want to here. Just wait for the developer blogs. That's when the juicy details come out. I think the Dream team and Olympic team are just to hook the casuals who currently have Olympic fever.
So they pretty much went over/showed everything that has been revealed thus far and a quarter of gameplay. I can live with that and the new info is helpful. I hope they have fixed the issue where if you make a timely pass to an open man around the 3 point line, he is morphed further away so the CPU defender has a chance to catch up. It got to the point where hitting the trailer for a 3 was almost useless because they would make him lag or move him out of position. There are a couple more items like this, but this is my main gripe being a MyLeague/MyGM guy.
I'm confused.... Doesn't steal success need toned up not down? After the patch they made centers invisible in the post and intercepting lead passes is very inconsistent unless you are a cpu
Yeah , thats just wrong. I have seen as recently as yesterday (when playing HoF anyways) that certain guys would for some reason drop down to their 50s/60s in stamina while the other guys on the court with them were still in there 80s and "fresh".
Playing a five man lineup for the whole game (on 5-6 min quarters) is just not feasible if trying to win. Guys/guards have high stamina and might be able to play for a long time but bigs and centers really slow down after about 4 constant minutes.

Yeah, I would like to know more on this subject. I was in the same boat. I thought stealing needed to be increased and not needed.

I hope they meant things like stripping while the offensive player was driving was tuned down, while things like intercepting passes were more controllable..
Both offense and defense need a higher skill ceiling in this game. Hopefully revamped stealing means that its not necessarily easier to do, but you are more in control and your positioning and reaction time have a bigger factor than before
Gotta see the new rebounding system, Rodman is so useless in the game even with his superior rebounding skills. I get more rebounds with Roy Hibbert than Rodman.

The rebounding logic for 2k16 was
The taller the players were the higher chance of grabbing the rebound.
While it sounds logical it isn't entirely true in the NBA.
I love having fatigue in the game, but can we please get an option to sub out for a couple of minutes in mycareer.
Not the 'sim to end' thing.
I'm talking about when your player has a Gatorade symbol but the coach leaves you in the game, your enegy gets so low you can barely get up and down the court. The pinhead still doesn't sub you out.
I'm put off by how they described rebounding. So basically I'm going to call it your going to be Deandre Jordan and have small pg's like Isaiah Thomas snagging rebounds away from him. All because people want their 6ft tall pg with 25 rating in off/def rebounding to be able to out rebound 7ft centers with max rebounding. "Well rondo is a great rebounding pg". You got so all pg's in the league should be able to rebound like that I guess. Or maybe I'm just being overly cynical.
I want to know if players hands will go through the ball on steal attempts? Will the ball be completely tangible at all times as it should be? Will the CPU protect the ball when dribbling in the proximity of a defender? This stuff has to be fixed!
That is SUCH a lie. I can't even play Cameron Payne for a full 6 min quarter Summer League game without his fatigue ending up in the 40s. Not sure why that lie is even in there.
Never had an issue with fatigue, maybe because I always play 12 min qtrs. What I was hoping to hear, related to that, is that they addressed the rotational substitution logic, eliminating the mass substitutions (4-5 at a time).

Yea they threw me off with the fatigue talk without talking about a new substitution system but maybe they go hand in hand, but yea the mass subs is a big issue, reminds me of my rec. league days.

I think the rebounding rating should really take affect when the ball leaves the shooters hands. Have players with high rebound ratings have a faster reaction time and better awareness of where the ball may come off the rim. Have the higher rated players attack the rim more aggressively once the shot goes up. Once the ball is off the rim I do like the combination of the signature skill that increases the odds of a good rebounder winning hte battle against a lesser rebounder.
