I wonder if they got rid of those crazy catches every player did last year?

Rex answered on twitter, stay tuned or we got you covered, something like that.

Back on topic.

Shouldnt the ball carrier be looking up field as soon as he gets the ball, looking for holes/on-coming defenders? To me, it looks like his head is pointed in the direction he is running the entire time.

Also running animation looks unchanged and just as awkward as 16.

Maybe this will be the year that's the case. Every other year we attribute passive play to difficulty level, the passive play is present on all levels. And this particular issue has been in the game forever.

Even if it's difficulty, I don't like how it's handled. I'd like to see defenders do their job and just get blocked, fill the wrong gap, overrun the play, etc. LBs sitting and waiting on an obvious run play is atypical.

Than you jd for posting this.

As mentioned earlier, a lot of over reaction/reaching without having all the info to know what's driving that particular outcome.

With that, love that the PRC is driving/dictating how well an AI defensive player plays his responsibility/technique.

So the impact of PRC (read & react)+ PUR (angle taken) will be crucial towards the fluidity and execution of Juke moves.

Ratings impacting "specific" aspects of the game, love it!!!

Maybe someone could ask him about the MLB and playside OLB. Both played way too soft for me.

I would hope it's different/dynamic, meaning sometimes it's right when they cross the goaline, and other times, it's a little after they're in the end zone. I thought the transition from score to celebration looked better synced, though, than from last year. There was always that 'lag-pause'. The transition was always slightly off, I'd say. This transition looked more seamless, anyways.

I'm sure we'll get deeper into the Read & React portion of the defense as the blogs and communication around them will allow for more in depth discussion, but since this particular video was chosen to highlight the changes in the "juke" move, I'm just trying to keep focus on that.

One major outcry was that there was no "player differentiation" or not evident enough during gameplay.
That everyone played like a stud.

Since the Saints don't have any studs at LB, It would be an eye sore to see "every" player reacting/playing perfectly on a play.

It's really looking good though!!!

I agree, we seem to look at madden and point out what a player should do in relation to what they are doing, and say the game isn't presenting true football; though the thing is, ratings/ability of a player, in madden, and in real football, cause player to miss assignments, or be out of position, etc.

I think many of us have to step back and remember that no player is always in the correct position or makes the correct read, etc. and Madden represents this in game, and I hope that more ratings are presented more prominently in M17, as it appears PRC may have a bigger impact now.

I guess the Saints need to drat a stud LB..

A few things...

LBs play run 1st unless it's an obvious passing down. Their read step tends to be forward.

You don't have to be a stud to read a down block by a tackle or a pulling guard.

This is a legacy issue. While folks were complaining that everyone played like studs, LBs still reacted as they do in this vid.

But let's see how this looks in a vid meant to address what I'm talking about. Though this issue has been a problem forever, this could be the year it's different. Lookimg forward to higher difficulty gameplay vids.

I think the animation looks good. I hope the score banner image is proof of Presentation upgrade...even though the changes they made were very minimal with the banner itself.

I understand what you're saying and agree; I look forward to seeing gameplay on All-Pro and All-Madden.

does anyone really care about a basic juke move or the score bug at the top of the screen? How is this newsworthy?

148 posts and 8000 views says...?

Yeah, I do, because juke moves have been not as fluid in the past, and to see the difference, thanks to DD, is nice.

To each their own.

I just hope all the new juke moves in the game flow nice smooth and don't look so stiff and robotic.

I wanna see my RB stride in the open field and plant his feet then cut. So to me the new jukes look a lot better, not perfect but better.

I wish they never rebuilt the engine and just built on from the PS2 game. Those same jukes are there and the running animations actually look better from a game 10 years ago.

The running animations are definitely some of the worst animations in the game. These new juke animations give me hope though.

If they can improve the running animations, the skating on defense, and the bad QB animations, I'll be very happy.
