NCAA Football 14 News Post

EA Sports posted an initially cryptic video on the NCAA Football Facebook Page today which appeared to 'show signs of life' with a heartbeat monitor.

However, instead of a cryptic announcement of an impending announcement of the game coming back, it appears the tweet was actually meant to be to mark the National Title Game tonight. Honestly, if that's the case its the worst way ever to do it -- as with nothing seemingly in development you basically are posting a video that'd make most everyone think you meant something about a 'dead' game series.

From what we know, and from what others have been told via EA, there either isn't an NCAA Football game in development right now and/or there is one under development that EA outright denies at this point and has locked up as an insanely well kept secret.

It doesn't help either that the caption of the video is "Our heart still beats for the big game... ‪#‎NationalChampionship‬" so it would seem to be about tonight's game vs. an announcement of a new NCAA game. However this is the first new post in two years on the Facebook page, so why now of all times?

With the NCAA meeting happening this week, along with the National Title game, the timing and content of the video was certainly odd and not well thought out if its not to pre-announce something -- but who knows. Maybe this is EA's way of saying something is coming eventually and we'll all be screaming for joy when that happens. It's entirely plausible this is a tease for an ad in tonight's game announcing a comeback -- it's also entirely plausible this is just a bad PR stunt by a company that probably should be above that sort of thing.

UPDATE: The official Twitter page has also posted the following updates...

We have no new plans or announcements to make regarding the EA SPORTS NCAA Football series.

Today’s #NationalChampionship game reminds us more than ever that the hearts in our community still beat for college football.

Confirmed. NCAA 18 or 19 will be a coming. That's my take

Nothing yet but EA Sports has denied a new game three times, why deny it so much if they aren't hiding something? Their statement is oddly worded, so the 2015 National Title game didn't remind them that their heart beats for college football but the 2016 National Title Game does?

EA thats not cool. I haven't bought Madden in a decade and I'm dying for a college football game

As much as I want this to be true, I just can't buy in. Too much Joe Montana-ish. I can't go through that again. I'm getting too old to be disappointed again. I miss choices. The best that we can hope for is backwards compatibility for the Xbox One.

Damage control. Like I said earlier, that edited excuse was an extremely lame excuse to cover something up. Some over zealous social media staffer made a gaffe.

Yeah it be nice if that happened and for PS4 as well. I know it's not backward compatiable but at least put on PSN so people can play it on the PS4. Update the game to add the Playoff System, maybe uniforms or whatever. Then maybe make it possible to import draft classes into Madden 17 or something like that.

Wishful thinking I know... but all well.

So......we done here? Or is this going to drag on even though nothing happened during the game?

Pretty much this is over. So essentially it ended up like the Montana Football hype except instead of a mobile game, there is no game. Just one giant and terrible troll job.

Whoops on EA "social media intern."

Let's think outside of the box fellas... Maybe their FB post about the National Championship was to re-hype NCAA 14. Just in due time for EA Access to announce it into the vault this or next month. If this is the case EA would make a profit off of selling Access memberships alone.

When's the last time EA told the truth to us fans? They're hiding something clearly. New College Football game in the works people!

Yeah, they're hiding the re-release reveal of NCAA 14 as one of the backwards compatible EA Access Vault games to come in the coming months.

There you go again hyping yourselves up over nothing, just to be disappointed in the end.

Except they can't do that unless they want to lose another $40 million.

It's not happening. This is just like last year when we had the first ever 4 team playoff and EA was asking people who the 4 teams should be or who they have winning it. Then people on here and other places started thinking we were going to get a playoff DLC....... and it didn't happen. I love the passion but this really nothing. I'm sure EA would love to make another game because it makes money and the popularity is only growing but the fact is the whole licencing issues and likeness stuff still needs to be ironed out in the courts before aNutting can happen. EA would get sued up the hoop if they released a game next year.
