NCAA Football 14 News Post

EA Sports posted an initially cryptic video on the NCAA Football Facebook Page today which appeared to 'show signs of life' with a heartbeat monitor.

However, instead of a cryptic announcement of an impending announcement of the game coming back, it appears the tweet was actually meant to be to mark the National Title Game tonight. Honestly, if that's the case its the worst way ever to do it -- as with nothing seemingly in development you basically are posting a video that'd make most everyone think you meant something about a 'dead' game series.

From what we know, and from what others have been told via EA, there either isn't an NCAA Football game in development right now and/or there is one under development that EA outright denies at this point and has locked up as an insanely well kept secret.

It doesn't help either that the caption of the video is "Our heart still beats for the big game... ‪#‎NationalChampionship‬" so it would seem to be about tonight's game vs. an announcement of a new NCAA game. However this is the first new post in two years on the Facebook page, so why now of all times?

With the NCAA meeting happening this week, along with the National Title game, the timing and content of the video was certainly odd and not well thought out if its not to pre-announce something -- but who knows. Maybe this is EA's way of saying something is coming eventually and we'll all be screaming for joy when that happens. It's entirely plausible this is a tease for an ad in tonight's game announcing a comeback -- it's also entirely plausible this is just a bad PR stunt by a company that probably should be above that sort of thing.

UPDATE: The official Twitter page has also posted the following updates...

We have no new plans or announcements to make regarding the EA SPORTS NCAA Football series.

Today’s #NationalChampionship game reminds us more than ever that the hearts in our community still beat for college football.

New to the forum but wassup everyone ! I signed up because of this trash that EA did today and, since NCAA14 is on everyone's mind.. I mine as well now use their screw up as a way to broadcast this and get it back at least on the Xbox One. All it takes is a simple vote.. Please take time out and go vote.

Interesting. Even though this was on the EA page, I just can't help but think that Joe Montana and 2K are really the ones behind this. I have some YouTube videos to show you that will really blow your mind.

That being said, it absolutely could be a feeler of sorts. PR companies do this all the time. Throw a rumor or tease out there, see how people react and then the publishing company can have a better idea if people are looking to buy the product. I really doubt this is an actual announcement but it could mean something.
But why would they need to do a feeler? They should already know that people will be clamoring to buy any new NCAA Football game simply based on how popular the series was before it was forced to be cancelled due to the legal actions of a couple of individuals who shall remain nameless and by how much people were upset over its discontinuation and have been clamoring for its return.

As has been said, at best it's a cryptic message that some announcement is forthcoming (perhaps even a spot during tonights game) and at worst it's an epic troll job or a poorly thought out move by one of their PR guys.

Dammit EA, don't play with me!

Even if it isn't real I hope that it gives EA or 2K an indication of how much we want another NCAA Football game.

They already know we want a college football game. That's not the problem. EA would still be pumping out college football games if not for the lawsuit.

EA just trolling the masses. Nothing to see here. Move on.

Just give me a new college football game with generic rosters (that we can edit), but no roster share. Is that too much to ask?

Spoiler

Doubt its anything but if you are going to do an ad to announce a game that'd be coming out this year or next, you'd probably do it when the most people are watching that particular sport.

But with that said, there's just very little chance EA's been able to keep such a thing a secret...plus they seem to be outright denying it means anything. But who knows.

To be fair, 2K was able to keep college basketball in their NBA game a secret pretty well. The only reason we found out that was happening is because I found the licensing on the CLC website which they proceeded to remove and never put back there to this day.

Yes because EA lost the NCAA license.

They would only do this if a game is in the works!

It's a weird thing to post for a national championship game though isn't it? The heart rate monitor is weak at best, showing the patient is still alive even thought the pulse isn't strong, wtf does that have to do with the real title game tonight?

# 54 bvb24 @ 01/11/16 04:27 PM
How could EA shoehorn Ultimate Team into the game? Because without UT they have no interest.

# 55 This Is Michigan @ 01/11/16 04:28 PM
It has nothing to do with the national title game and everything to do with the game being brought back.

People are being way too naive here.

Guess what? That post did not have a caption originally. They edited it after it blew up. It was just the video. EA releasing 3 "statements" frantically, essentially confirms that something is coming.

Why would an account that has been silent for nearly two years post about a game tonight that's not even the first playoff championship game?

Newsflash: million dollar companies lie all the time. This is a case of damage control.

It may not be next year, but a new game is coming. I wouldn't be surprised if this was to draw extra eyes to the game tonight in case they air some kind of ad for it.

That's how I see it...they wouldn't just randomly post about this game tonight...

Had me way too excited.

# 59 daabsolute1 @ 01/11/16 04:53 PM
They could have just posted a poll asking who we thought would win tonight if it were about tonight's game. I call shenanigans.
