Power Pros 2016 News Post

Baseball fans, don't be sour. Look above, and feel the power! It's a new day on PlayStation 4, yes it is! For the first time in the platform's short history, Konami is bringing one of their two Nippon Professional Baseball games to PS4. Power Pros 2016 is targeting a Spring 2016 release in Japan on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, and that's all we really know about the game right now, based on an official press release that contains one teaser screenshot.

A new version of Pro Yakyuu Spirits is also being made for iOS and Android, and that product is far enough along in development that Konami has posted a pretty detailed trailer to their Japanese YouTube channel:

Pro Yakyuu Spirits Ace should be available on phones and tablets sometime in 2015, according to the above video. Konami's also uploaded lots of in-game screenshots and a few paragraphs describing Ace's game modes on its Japanese webpage.

I couldn't find anything besides the 2008 DS version and a few Wii versions on regular Amazon.

Here's a full walkthrough of everything in Exhibition mode:

There are some pretty neat quick play options hidden in there for the folks that want an alternative to playing 9 inning games. Like in The Show, you can switch between controlling the full team and controlling one player at any time during the game. You can also decide to only play when runners are in scoring position, if you just want to play the clutch moments.

Vernon also confirmed today what I had been experiencing myself in that level 4 CPU pitching seems to produce the most realistic results:

http://powerprotranslation.com/cpu_p...culty2016.html

Level 3 is the next best, but it still has too many pitches down the middle and too few walks.

Level 5 is pure corner painting cheddar.

If you need to change anything to get level 4 pitching feeling right for you, I recommend changing the pitch speed and hitting assist, and not messing with the pitching level.

Also the patch notes for May 2 seem to indicate that there's a bug in season mode that prevents your season from progressing at the end of the year if you have the "report to baseball hall of fame" setting turned on. At least, that's the best translation I could come up with from Google. I haven't gotten into season mode yet to see what's up in those settings.

The only other patch notes of interest seem to be a bug in 20th anniversary success mode that I couldn't decipher and the free gift items that will be available to everyone until May 9 by hitting the touchpad on the main menu to claim them.

Thanks Jyoung for the video and other information you have provided. I am currently trying to figure out how to switch to the second pitch in the case that a pitcher has two curve balls or two of another kind of pitch. I've played previous versions of this game as well as the Spirits games and I believe it has always been one of the shoulder buttons but shoulder button does not work with this game and after trial and error I still can't figure it out. If you or someone else could shed some light on this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Tap R1 to switch back and forth between a pitch slot's primary/secondary pitches.

Remember that a higher number next to a pitch type indicates that it has more break. You should be using your pitches that have the highest number the most often.

The CPU also does a good job of remembering and anticipating your tendencies in pitch speed and location. So you need to constantly be mixing those up or they CPU will catch on to your patterns.

I just found an amazing feature that's hidden deep in the menus:

You can create your own custom cheer songs!

This is the first sports game I've played since College Hoops 2K8 that has allowed created crowd chants.

@4:50 mark roughly: Does that mean we can essentially create the entire MLB teams at least for exhibition play? Athletics, Orioles, Astros, etc. etc. What about creating logos and team uniforms? Are those available?

Before anyone gets there hopes up, jyoung did say you can only take a maximum of 4 created teams into season mode.

The way the team editing works is that you can save up to 55 custom teams.

You can edit pretty much everything about your team -- names, logos, uniforms, attributes, appearances, abilities, etc.

When you first start season mode, you can only import 4 custom teams. But once you're inside season mode, the same editing tools still exist. So you start your season with 4 custom teams, then you have to go and edit the remaining 8 teams from within season mode.

I think I might have missed something somewhere. Why did they make this for the PS4 and not PYS? R they kidding?

This series has always outsold PYS and I suppose its cheaper to make as well. I'm still holding out hope that PYS gets made at some point again but if not i'll be totally happy playing this game, its that good.

So, is it a maximum of 12 teams per season mode?

Meaning if you bring in 4 custom teams, instead of having the standard 12 NPB teams, now you're down to 8 NPB teams plus the 4 custom teams brought in? Or is it a maximum of 16 teams for season play? In other words, you still can't have a 30 team season mode over 30 years, right?

Captured from someone's youtube gameplay. Something caught my eye and is sort of funny. Are the umpires simply guessing pitches? You can barely see the umpire behind the plate.

R1 is not working for me although I remember using it for previous versions of the game to get to the second pitch. Not sure why I can't get it to work, it's not my controllers as I have two and it doesn't work on either of them.

If you have two breaking pitches select one of them with your L stick then hit R1 to switch to the other.

Thanks Will. I do hold the left stick to pick my pitches and have no issue in picking the pitches that way however the pitches do not highlight when I pick them, not sure if they're even supposed to. For instance, to pick a fastball I hold up on the left stick and the fastball is thrown. There is nothing on screen that indicates I picked the fastball like the fastball stick on the screen lighting up or being highlighted. If others are seeing their pitches highlighted when they pick them then there must be some setting I've messed up like possibly when two players are playing each other in the same room each would not want the other to see watch pitch they're throwing. Hope that makes sense.

If you are playing vs CPU then when you push up on the L stick you should see the power fastball arrow light up and flash. If your pitcher has two power fast balls, indicated by two arrows in the up position then pressing R1 will switch to the other power fastball and that arrow will light up and flash. A regular fastball (white ball in the center) is thrown by just executing the pitch button ( X ).

If you have two controllers connected make sure you are selecting a "vs cpu" game, when you have only one controller connected the two player option is grey out (disabled).

Here is a vid of someone streaming, if you watch you will see how they should be flashing.

PS: I suppose there is always the possibility of an option that disables the flashing but not that I know of.

I might have to get the PS3 version of this game. I've always wanted to try a game in this series.

I'm already armed with the google translate app from playing foreign app games

Thanks again Will. Yeah, my screen pitch display does not light up while I select the pitch. I can still throw the correct pitch but not sure about two pitches of the same type since I can't get the pitch to highlight. I'm in pennant now so only have one controller activated. I'm betting there's an option that I somehow managed to disable, doesn't seem to be any other explanation. I've never played two player though so not sure how I would have disabled it.
