The difficulty is brutal this year, I'm struggling to do anything on All-Star. I feel like I need to learn to play the game all over again, which is a good thing, seeing as though the AI in 2K15 was getting a bit dull.

I can't put this game down. I don't wanna spoil anything, but I was the Bulls, and they did this crazy pre game intro, Last time I got chills playing a video game, was when Jordan led me through the tunnel in 2k11.

On to the game, I was the Bulls, (friend was the Heat) I got Rose going early slicing and dicing the Miami D with tough layups and attacking the rim, looked like Prime Rose out there. PNR was beautiful, Rose would stutter step and then just accelerate around Noah and pull up for a leaning J, all of it just flowed so beautifully and felt good.

I suffocated Wade with Butler, and Miami had to find other ways to score, and other then Bosh, I shut them down. Really felt like Chicago's grind it out Defense. Offensively, this was my best game, I didnt make many mistakes, and I never once pressed triangle to post up (lol bad habits can be broken.)

Jimmy Buckets was getting his too, knocking down a few threes, and one nasty slam on Bosh. It just feels right.

The box score highlights I have no idea about but you guys aren't seeing any of that stuff?

I know what your talking about with the box scores, I think. You talking bout, where you could press square and see individual highlights, yea I don't think they put that in this year, or its a bug on ps4 l, I remember that in 2k15.

I've others where the camera jumps back and forth between the player that passed the ball and the player catching it.

I saw them last night on 5 min quarters, so I guess some people got some bugged copies.

http://www.operationsports.com/forum...-quarters.html

Halftime and postgame player of the game highlights along with individual player highlights are working properly on the XB1 for any minutes played per quarter. They are also working on the PS4 if games are played on 8 minute quarters or less. There is one individual that made a post about neither highlight packages working on his XB1; he tried turning his game and system off as advised, but that didn't fix it.

Post game (player of the game) highlights are not working on the PS4 if games are played at 9, 10, 11, 12 minutes (anything above 8 minutes). Something about the PS4 cache, not enough memory or something. Some people are also possibly saying the PS4 share function may be the culprit. The theory is if the PS4 allows one to turn off the share function feature completely, both halftime and postgame highlights would always work.

Halftime and postgame highlights were intended to always work for both systems (XB1 and PS4). Some people are blaming Sony, others are blaming 2k. Highlights are not suppose to be random occurrences. It also comes down to the amount of games being played due to the cache. The more games are played without turning off the game completely, sooner or later, even the halftime highlights will also not show up.

The workaround to "guarantee" postgame 12 minute quarter highlights is to 'save and exit' the game at the beginning of the third quarter (you must wait until the ball is inbounded). This workaround only works for MyLeague and MyGm and possibly other My-- modes, as long as you are able to save and exit at the start of the 3rd quarter. Close out the game completely, then fire the game back up and resume play from the save file beginning in the 3rd quarter. It will not work for Play Now quick games because these games do not have a "save" function.

This unfortunately wipes out all first half highlights. Say, if you scored 35 points in the first half with Steph Curry and 2 points in the second half, and immediately bench him for the remainder of the game, and he is the player of the game. Following the workaround, the player of the game highlights will only show different camera angle of the 2 points Curry made in the second half (first half highlights are completely wiped). The same goes with the Boxed score individual highlights -- Curry would maybe get 2 seconds of highlight and then completely go blank.

Thanks for clarifying, Yea that's frustrating I'm sure, luckily I never play more then 8 minute quarters, and I rarely even do that.

No problem.

I also suspect 8 minute quarters and under will also have highlights not working for halftime and postgame ... if the user chooses to play multiple upon multiple consecutive games back to back (i.e. 8 to 20 games back to back to back as an example). Something about the PS4 cache system.

It's definitely a difficult pill to swallow considering the pre-game, halftime, post-game was my number one most desired wishlist item for NBA2k (I truly skipped 2k15 because there wasn't a legitimate halftime show). It was an absolute shock we got something magnificent for 2k16 when the trailer dropped.

And yes, I actually do sit down to watch the pregame, halftime and post game show for each and every 2k16 single game. I would love to see all segments expanded for 2k17. I would love to see 2k17 implement 2k14's halftime around the league score report along with notes about other games that are playing for that specific night.

Regardless, I'm enjoying the game. I'll just watch the first half highlights and watch a screen shot of the player of the game for the post game wrap up, or go ahead with the workaround if I wanted to get the full post game wrap up experience.

Bring on the PS5 with more memory/cache.

I wish I had your experience. I just couldn't get passed the outright cheating. Same thing happened to my roommate, maybe I got a bad game IDK. It was so frustrating to watch my good defensive plays turn into cheap scores for the cpu. Almost every block shot went straight to the cpu. Even the player i actually blocked would some how get the ball back, It also happened on steals. I stripped Carmelo three times one game and recovered the ball all three times. I can see once in awhile but it literally was all the time. I just couldn't see passed it. It totally ruined the game for me. I hate when the cpu can do just whatever it wants like having Collison drive the lane with Okafor and Noel waiting to block his shot but Collison some how makes a miraculous 360 layup and scores. I do it, I get blocked and of course the cpu gets the ball. Ive played every 2k basketball game and Ive never seen such blatent cpu cheese...

Not too much change on the 360 version from 15. haven't opened the 4 version, and got it digital on the 1.. trying to find some time to try and play all 3 just to see how each handles, but I got quite a bit of other things to do atm. Yeah im late.. Quick ?, can we make custom sleeved jerseys, along with the regs in the editor?

What difficulty are you playing at? Because that might be a factor.

My previous 2k game was 14' and loose balls were simply frustrating. I managed to get to some, but for some reason, often the CPU would win those loose ball battles despite me having push the analog stick in that direction with the player literally standing over the ball unaware. With 2k16, loose balls are no longer frustrating. The loose ball physics feels much better, much more organic, and not suctioned to either the user or CPU. Loose balls are essentially up for grabs. Loose balls are no longer tattooed with either the CPU or players name on it.

PS4 digital version.

With regards to interior big man blocking. It's very satisfying this year especially if you time it correctly. The window of opportunity is just right. Point guards or little man and just about anyone driving the paint can keep their weak stuff out if you properly time your blocks. The force, the power, the yelling are very satisfying especially if it's a smaller guard trying to drive to the bucket. However, I also play man to man defense.

I was playing on pro with a few slider adjustments. I increase the short shot and layup slider. I feel there's too many missed shots and missed layups. I still see quite a bit of missed shots inside but I can live with that.. My friend has the game now, if he changes his mind on buying it, I might play it again..

Just got the game today and decided to do a fantasy league. Played a few games on all-star sim and my god, the game plays great. Points are hard to come by (THANK GOD FOR DEFENSE!) and excellent interior defenders ACTUALLY feel like defensive anchors. I drafted both Anthony Davis and Nerlens Noel and my goodness, the paint was on lock down in the few games I played. Love, love, love the fact that shot blockers actually feel like shot blockers. I'm still struggling with size up moves, however. Anyways, this is definitely the best 2k version I've played so far.

I also play on pro simulation with default sliders. I am considering moving up to all star soon. What about defense? Do you play on ball defense? Wherever the ball goes I would switch to that defender. Could that be another factor? Personally, I think the shots are pretty on point. Another thing that might factor into loose balls might simply be the team used. Born and raised in Oakland, the Warriors are who I use. Could there player awareness play a factor. I don't know. My experience with loose balls are very fair to both the user and CPU.

Here are some preliminary online head to head impressions from me.

Have played three online ranked games and overall it feels much smoother than last year. Playing on ball defense is very possible this year, even against the elite players(though still tough to keep guys like Harden, Curry, Kyrie in front of you, which is fair). Don't know if its the changes to the core gameplay or better overall connection/less lag(probably half and half). The worst part is still those hail marys rocket passes that are on the money, but they can be avoided for the most part if you are playing smart basketball. The cheese is for the most part gone, especially if they are using lower tier players, no more dribbling in traffic like a maniac holding down R2.

On a personal level the only thing I haven't come to grips with this year so far is the post game. I use the Kings and haven't been able to really dominate with Cousins on the block. At the same time I also admit the post game was way overpowered last year and I could consistently get 11-13 Fg's type games from Cousins by just feeding the post. Don't know if its the post game being nerfed or me just not wrapping my head around the new controls yet. BTW I run with the Kings almost exclusively, although I will probably change it up this year and go random, since most teams play very differently from what I have seen.

Game 1: Lakers vs Kings (loss)- This was a very sloppy game, this was actually the first full game I played of 2k16 and probably for my opponent also. A lot of turnovers from dribbling in traffic and not being able to get Boogie off were my downfalls here. Opponent was very sloppy too but hit a groove in the 3rd running pick and rolls with Russell and Hibbert/Randle that I couldn't figure out. Ultimately I figured out how to stop it and came back but fell just short losing by 4 pts. What I liked is that my defense was the reason for my comeback and even though I lost I was impressed I was able to stick around in a game I had no business winning and probably would have been blown out in in 2k15. My offense was that bad.

Game 2: Kings vs Heat (win)- After learning a lot from that first game and playing against CPU various times it was time to get back online and this game fared much better. Opponent played a very basic game, mainly sticking to Wade isolations, was pretty easily able to contain him with McLemore(who isn't even rated good defensively). Cousins fared much better here mainly using him in the high post to take Whiteside out of the paint. Rudy Gay was money from all over the court hitting midrange shots, some corner threes and some nice dunks on the break off of good defense. He stuck around for a while but game was decided by the end of the 3rd, easy 20 pt blowout.

Game 3: Kings vs Rockets (win)- My first meeting with a textbook cheeser from last year. This guy pretty much used Harden non stop every possesion, with an occasional Lawson pick and roll, but really nobody else on the court was a threat. I did a pretty decent job guarding Harden 1 on 1 with Mclemore and forcing him into the help of Cousins. Still Harden made some crazy runners and heavily contested close shots. This kept him in the game through three quarters as I rarely double cheesers because they tend to shoot their stars out of games by the 4th. Which is exactly what happen here, I also played Cauley-Stein and Cousins together in the 4th and combined with the fatigue and length of those boys, Harden was rendered useless. Stein had a sick block too hitting it off the glass leading to a breakaway dunk for Gay.

Holding L1 +R1 for 'timeouts' worked just fine on the PS4, for several years.

Adding that new 'Touchpad Timeout' on the PS4 is really, really BAD USABILITY DESIGN, in my opinion.

If any 2K Developer or Game Tester ever accidentally called a 'timeout' by mistake... because their finger slipped off the sticks.... as they were making a move towards the bucket, or pulling up for a crucial jumper.... then that should have been a clear 'RED FLAG' that using the touchpad to call timeouts is a very bad idea.
  • Gamers have different sized fingers.
  • And their fingers slip ALL THE TIME when playing video games.
  • Whether they have fat fingers, or slim fingers.
  • It happens.

I cannot believe that NOBODY ever spoke up about this.

For those who don't know what 'bad usability design' is...

Imagine if the POWER BUTTON was put right smack dab in the middle of your COMPUTER KEYBOARD....

So anytime you accidentally had a 'typo' (or misspelled a random word)..... your whole computer just instantly shut off. (That's bad usability design. That's why the power button is located somewhere else. lol)

Yup, that's how annoying that 'touchpad timeout' is, imo.

Everything else about the game is cool tho.

# 694 jcwkings @ 10/01/15 01:04 AM
The subsitutions in game are TERRIBLE, they were perfectly fine last year. I have to call a timeout anytime I want to make subs, its that bad.

# 695 jfsolo @ 10/01/15 01:18 AM
I just saw a unicorn. I actually got a charge against a CPU player. Without even holding the B button. Probably won't see another one for a couple hundred games.

It's not logical to feel this way, but with this game I'm actually disappointed that I'm going to have make so many slider adjustments. I'll be able to make the game balanced, but with the improved A.I. I don't know why the CPU opponent team has so many inherent advantages over my team.

Pretty sure you can make substitutions on the fly by hitting down on the d-pad while playing.

What's wrong with substitutions? It may be different but I definitely do not need to call a timeout to do substitutions. I can sub players on the fly during gameplay or during the freethrows.

Spoiler

L1 + R1 worked but wasn't perfect; I've had issues with throwing the pass to a teammate or throwing a pass and having it intercepted by the opposition when pressing L1+R1. The touchpad for timeout has been working perfectly for me. The only issue I have is I've been doing intentional fouls accidentally.

# 699 UTAllTheWay @ 10/01/15 01:43 AM
The game feels and plays amazing. The pick and roll offense and defense is excellent. I feel like I'm actually running a true pick and roll this year.

My only complaint right now is the crowd. They are dead all of the time.

# 700 jfsolo @ 10/01/15 02:50 AM
This kind of thing happens to me at least 3 or 4 times a game.

What are Kobe and Clarkson, and to a certain extent Bass too, doing here? It's ridiculous.
