Also passing is very much improved. They will not just pass back heel all the time. Basically players pass where they could in a real game. This is why sometimes they do just clear it out of bounds. When that is the only play they have that is what they make. Where last year they could pass or boot it any direction at any moment very unrealistically. The game is way better.
The game is better. At least on the surface. What I'm most concerned with are the sliders and tactics holding up over 2+ seasons, mostly for teams to play differently game to game.

Cpu defenders backpass to their GK. This is a fact. They only make a panicky clearance under very heavy pressure. In FIFA 15 they always went with the clearance.
You can obviously see that EA applied/coded the "Chase the Ball" drill into cpu AI inside the game. This means cpu players are programmed to find the open player in FIFA 16. That's the reason we see backpasses to midfield and to the GK. This ofc leads to high pass % for the cpu but I'd happily take that instead of the "always forward" and psychic dribbling mentality.
That new improved AI coding has immediate impact on the build up and that's why it's the first time we see the cpu midfield build up in a FIFA game.
That said, your defensive approach should be more tactical and focused on covering space and go for the ball when you feel you have closed down enough the cpu attack. This is the main reason I use LEgacy Defending because it gives me the opportunity to play off-ball and send my teammates to tackle the ball and not just contain.

I'll be glad to not see the likes of Ipswich town back heel passing all over the field like a bunch of pasty Ronaldinhos...

This game is very different. The passing by the CPU is with purpose and not aimless. Of course they miss passes and make mistakes. That's the beauty of the game. They are now more human like.

What I am finding is that each game I play, even against the same team is different. Now you really have to work to fund chances. So does the computer. I love it.

I just played the game on my friend's xbone and I'm even more in love with it than after playing the demo.

One thing I like the most are long and risky shots/passes by the AI. I played against Juventus and Pogba tried 3 long range bombs, one of which went in for stunning goal.

Does anyone who plays "My Player" career mode know if you can transfer this year? Last year was a bummer that you had to stay on the same team your whole career with the exception of being loaned from a big club. Thanks.

My brother had to go to work, we only left about 3hours. I bought another access on other account

Anyone here play like we do? System is next:
go at int.soccerway.com and see what are games for today. Make list about 13-14 best matches from all playable leagues from FIFA, check weather for them, setup matches in that weather conditions and match time, and play. Something like predictions. It's quite very funny and superb. Many teams, many different players, stadiums, conditions etc.

Is anyone having trouble accessing Ultimate Team mode? I can only get to the name your team screen and I keep getting told that my team name includes a foul word. Which isn't true and I have tried multiple team names.

My two biggest issues with the game.

1. the CPU defense is overpowered in my opinion. Their backs make the perfect tackles every time and just suffocate with their bodies. I cannot keep possession of the ball to save my life.

2. sticking with CPU defense, their backs close out on my faster attackers EVERY single time when there should clearly be an advantage with the speed. The speed threshold needs to be adjusted.

I would mention passing but honestly CPU defense is too good I just make my own mistakes with passing. Other than that, I love the game and the competitive CPU but the defense and speed threshold need to be adjusted imo.

What is the team name you are trying to use? You might be surprised what those filters deem unacceptable.

NO and NO!

1) No. The defense/offense has a nice balance. You should lower the difficulty level if you are having trouble. It is very easy to keep possession of the ball. I play on full-manual.

2) In regards to speed, you need to understand that EA have balanced running while dribbling vs running without the ball. You should be faster without dribbling. That's why you need to use knock-on dribbles/ especially double-knock. To hit the ball even further away from you. This way you will pick up speed when not taking touches.

To each his own, but these two things are actually 2 of the 5 things I absolutely LOVE in Fifa 16.

To go off what SteeelerFan said... It probably is not a foul word or curse word in your culture but maybe is in another.

An example of cultural difference. I will not use foul words because I do not purposefully do so... While us in America all know that the word "mate" is what Brits use for friend sometimes. Few probably know that in Wales "butt" is the word they use for "mate" or friend. This example is just a small one to illustrate that no matter where you live there is possibly something you use as everyday language that in another culture is offensive.

What is the name you wanted. I have an iPhone app to check what it means in other cultures.

I agree 100% with Kaletore and Josam's last posts.... The defense for me is right on. You get space doing what Josam suggested while dribbling. Even the fastest players in the world get ran down if the ball is kept tight at their boots.

Watch how IRL someone like Bale when sprinting on a breakaway kicks the ball way out infront of him. The key here is he is mostly jabbing the ball and just sprinting. Last of all while YouTube has reals of highlites of him doing this it occurs less often than many believe. Messi when he dribbles through folks is not typically outrunning them but switching directions on the ball and getting defenders off balance. Most the time when a player gets away it is actually just a defensive miscue and timing issue and the player is running without the ball. Very rarely does a footballer one v one get past someone and just outrun people. They make runs off the ball and a great pass to space then maybe a jab forward sprint to catch the ball and shot on goal.

I was used to the older just outrun people video game style and there is a learning curve to FIFA 16 but it is way better game and far far more realistic. Someone talked about CR7 being run down by defenders. Truth is many defenders can run him down if he dribbles the ball close. That is simply not how he gets away or space and scores. Watch a bunch of his goals and if you create chances like he does IRL, it will work in this years game.

*I rarely have players of those guys level just wanted to use well knowns as my examples. With the exception of Bale who is on Wales usually the National side I manage as my father is Welsh and I feel loyal to the country as much as to the one I live in.
