Man, the impressions in here sound too good to be true!

Elsewhere I see a lot of complaints that teams are still playing mostly the same, especially on the higher difficulty settings, and they mostly play possession style and it's way too difficult to get the ball off them.

Really hope the impressions here are more spot-on cause it's reading like a dream in here right now.

I read on Reddit they expanded the max roster size for squads. That should be nice with respect to youth academies and training. Just hope the loan logic in CM is better.

The summer tournaments are pretty cool... played RM last night and they started the game with a mix of starting 11 players and youth players. In the 2nd half they brought on Ronaldo, Modric and James and the pace changed immediately. Was neat to see how these 3 impacted the game immediately in their own special ways.

That's fantastic. I need to start a career tonight.

Had pretty much the same experience playing them in the pre season tourney. It was also nice to see teams in these doing more than 3 subs also. And actually starting young guys, not just subbing them in later in the game.

My worry with the way they've done preseason is now that there's money to be won, how likely are you going to experiment in the preseason like real teams do?

You still get three choices, in cups with teams closer to your level. But the money prize is much less than the bigger ones the bigger clubs can enter. There are 3 lower level, 3 mid level and 3 top level. Depending on your club you get offers based on the group you fall into.

Its worth experimenting if you want. I'm sure some people wont. But the way the funds are layed out you get a decent chunk for making it out of the group stage. Then win or lose in the semi you get a big chunk. And then win or lose in the final you get an even bigger chunk. I got 850k for getting out of group. Lost in the semi and got 2.5M. So you can experiment like I did and still get a good chunk of funds.

This is offline CM so do as you wish. I will personally experiment. Losing some potentual funds is worth finding out how my squad is. I do not play my stars in early rounds of the FA Cup and stuff. Of course if others want they should go all out and play the best each match.

IDK how sim you play is your call. Sometimes I call up young players for International friendlies, sometimes I play the countries best. There is no right or wrong to me in offline gaming.

I prefer a realistic experience in CM but maybe I'm not as strong-willed as you 'cause if there's a couple mil on the table, I could see myself playing to win rather than experimenting.

Obviously people can choose to play how they want, but the point is that I'd rather see CM's features be realistic to begin with.

It's not a big deal in the end but personally I would have been fine if they'd just have let us choose our opponents for preseason and give us the proper number of subs. For years that's all we've really been asking for.

You don't have to do a pre season tourney, you can do regular games and still have the subs. But you can't choose your opponents.

I totally get you. It will especially with a smaller budget be hard to not play to win the big cash. I was missunderstanding your point.

It is. Made me smile when I saw it because I was just expecting a starting 11 of their best with 3 random subs.

There is temptation to try to dominate and win the tournament but at the same time when you see other big teams experimenting, it should push you to do the same. I was trying to win the games but at the same time went into each game with a plan of who was gonna play, how long, etc.

Also a big thing is injuries. Pushing\playing too hard may result in injury. In the final game of the group stage I pushed a little to hard maybe for a positive result and Hazard tweaked his ankle so I was like oh oh, time to settle down. Thing that sucked most for me playing as Chelsea was Cesc was injured to begin the tournament and Oscar went off to Copa America.

To me, the big thing was being able to experiment with different squads in a "tournament" environment with teams doing the same rather then the reward. Plus for the 5 star tournament, you get €3 million just for the group stages.

In regards to the pre season tourneys, I did find the first bug last night. I got of of the group stage. But then when I lost the semi game, the board sent me an email telling me they were disappointed I didn't get out of the group stage.

Someone asked me about transfers in a PM. Figured I'd post it here also.

From a quick test just now, it appears to be exactly the same. I did a new quick MM, simmed until the final day of transfer window. And all the teams in the EPL had no or one, maybe two transfers. But more teams with none than anything. Yet I was seeing all sorts of stories for other leagues. So its hard to say what was actually changed because there is no transaction log. But from a first quick glance, it appears nothing was changed with transfers.

Here's what I can gather so far. I'm 8-1-0 and have only allowed 2 goals in 9 games online. Scoring is down a TON this year, period! The game plays a lot slower than years past.

Careful Passing is by far the most important aspect of the game. Turnovers seem to be rampant w the new passing system. The difficulty lies w the power not being as assisted as in the past.

One of the biggest and most blatant things I've noticed is that the speed threshold is TERRIBLY low! Speed doesn't kill at all, and it's a MAJOR bug. I'm talking 100% of the time on a dead sprint, the likes of

Walcott, Bale & Ronaldo getting chased down by ANY defender ALL of the time. It's clearly broken and needs to be fixed. Speed is totally neutralized in a terrible way (something that didn't happen in the demo)

This mainly effects co/op as well (which I played w a buddy. We went 5-1-0, and PLENTY of BS saves by the computer made it a nightmare in some games.

The defense has been cranked up to an ungodly level! It's out of hand how overpowering it is now. After reading impressions online, its common place now for 3 goals in a game to be a rarity. I haven't scored more than 3 in a game yet!

I'm so happy w the way the demo played, but the retail copy so far (which did get a patch update when I installed it, needs some work)

They can patch all they want for online, but this is perfect for offline MM. They better not touch any of this for us. Those things you have issues with is what we love about it.

exactly!

If they patch the game offline gameplay wise, I will not install the patch and just play it completely offline. I would rather lose the online goodies and roster updates and keep this awesome gameplay.

The game is not bugged or broken. It just finally plays like real football and you can not simply outrun everyone.
