It's fuller with active camera men following the action and taking photos with their DSLR cameras. It's also not a copy and paste job either. Each camera men looks to have individuality. Arena bright lights don't require flash photography. An added touch is a man using a professional TV station video broadcast camcorder on each end of the court.

The great thing is that they actually look like they've got a purpose. Their body is moving. Sometimes they would kneel down on one knee. Sometimes they would drop their arms because it looks like they're tired (DSLR cameras can be weighty if you hold them long enough). Other times they would stand straight up for a different shot. They would only take photos when the shot was deemed worthy. This is what's so great about 2k games. The small things that help truly create an immersive living world experience that not everyone appreciates immediately. It's subtle.
I love this. These little touches along with a solid presentation really make sports games special. Thanks for this info!

Can you point out the time marks of when the crowd are stuck in mid animation?

I know that certain video games may have their crowd continually moving their body and arms, or jumping up and down. But that doesn't necessary represent the behavior of a real crowd. Often real crowds actually look dull and boring. The people simply sit in the stands, sits tight and simply watches the action with their eyes or a turn of their heads. Only on exciting plays do they get a little bit more animated. I don't like it when sports companies tries to spice up the crowd artificially.

This is true, I watched it again and they seem to react when GS hits some shots but then they go back into having their hands folded on their laps not moving at all.

I guess it is only first quarter footage, not sure if playoff atmosphere is applied to this game either

I normally always slow down player speed and game speed as soon as I get the game. That way quickness of specific players is more noticeable.

Surprised there aren't more comments on AI Kyrie's cross...that didn't look like a signature size up...

That was the A.I actually making dribbling movies

Yea I peeped it, and yea it didn't look signature but still looked good, looked like a move the user would do, would have been nice to see some signature size ups with Curry and Kyrie though to at least see how effective they are at getting space against the defense.

After watching the HD video I'm pretty impressed. Usually with these videos there isn't much to take away because the user tends to be inexperienced. I'd probably have problems as well considering the controls have changed and I'm so used to how they are in 2k15.

I do like the ball physics and how the ball bounces off the rim. Player movement does seem smother. Also the body scans do make the players more unique and identifiable. The switching on defense is better too.

The scoreboard can still be changed because I would imagine it is one of the easiest things to change in the game.

I will say that I'm still not convinced zig-zag cheese doesn't exist. I'd imagine that people at the gamestop managers conference (the people saying it was eliminated) were playing the same demo and playing against the cpu. The cpu has better a reaction time than a person (simply because it knows what you're doing when you do it) so it is able to defend zig-zag cheese better than your average user. Zig-zag cheese stems from the defender occasionally having a slight delay when changing direction, which makes keeping up with your man difficult at times. This can be seen around the 5:03 mark when Curry (with the ball) simply changes direction and Irving gets "stuck" for a split second, freeing Curry. This forces Irving to have to sprint back to Curry to recover. It's very subtle since the user isn't really trying to do it.

I'll hold my breath on the zig-zag cheese being gone when I see a user vs user video and someone actively trying it.

no more complain about the video is recorded from an Nokia 3210
You chose to respect tradition instead of putting the HD version of the video first... I respect that a lot.

In all seriousness, thanks for the footage

LBJay did not play - it was a common friend of him and me who was filming and another friend of him playing.

Here are again ( already posted in this thread ) his translated impressions. Sry for bad english ;-)

I can tell you some more stuff including his conclusion from his own playing

The vid you can see was played by his ( not very experienced ) friend against the CPU Cavaliers.

- nobody knows on which difficulty the game was ( rookie or HoF? )

- CPU Teammates taking steals on their own

- Postplay is a little more difficult with a little less success

- Post Fade and Post Up an Under ist more difficult

- Big Players makes the basket easier with contact against smaller opponents

- You couldn't call Plays in the game

- You can pass the ball with x / circle / triangle ( 3 different passes )

- to call a screen you do not have to push circle anymore. You have to push L1 to start and then R1 to decide if roll or fade

- you can tell 2K to which side you want the block

- there was less fouls

- Arenas and Fans looks really amazing

Man the "arenas/fans look amazing" comment has my interest! I thought this on the OG and Czar blogs from broadcast cam.

When I get this on my PC screen with 1440p.....I will need to be RIPPED away from it....... haha.

It's gonna look like a TV broadcast man. That's why I am so desperate for TNT licensing - it will really make it look and FEEL like a real TV broadcast......

I digress, the arena looks great. And that's from a phone vid. Direct feed.....wow.... I've said this before, but the scuffs in the key paint and the centre logos add a LOT in this area aswell IMO.

Love the baseline camera men aswell. Adds movement/activity to the viewers/players field of vision which makes the arena feel move "alive".

The sequence from 5:33 to 5:42 is the most realistic animation sequence I've seen in a sports game in my lifetime. Every step is true and accounted for, Bogut sets a pick with no sliding, Mozgov shows and makes contact with Curry as the defense rotates forcing the pass and Barnes taking a forced fade away jumper...just beautiful. Another thing...some of us have a different definition of sliding, but with this clear HD version I saw no egregious sliding or warping. Watch Lebron on his breakaway dunks too...every step is true...no shifting or missed steps. Good stuff.

I really like the push from Mozgov on Bogut. The interior physicality is nicely done. Seriously looks good.

What I loved about the above gif is Mozgov's complete inability to keep Curry in front of him.

Hopefully the stickiness of the slow centers is gone.

Also just the small animation Curry does when he puts his arm up almost to shrug him off as he dribbles around him. Nice little touch of realism.... little cosmetic animations, although I'll bet are a lot of work to put in, make ALL THE DIFFERENCE..... this is 2Ks trademark and I love it!

Yep I can see it now.

I think OG said somewhere that a lot of work went into how PG's rode the hips of bigs. Before it was either you blew by him, or got in a caught up animation.

There was a good YT vid which Forever Versatile shared on Twitter from the Gamestop EXPO stating how the "caught up animations" are now essentially gone also. He mentions how you can break out of them at anytime now when you penetrate and get contact which is really exciting.

I think this mechanic would be great for Russell Westbrook users - you'd go around a screen and essentially get the big on your hip, pull up elbow and elevate for a Westbrook type jumper........ lovely.

I am picturing it, I just hope it's something we can replicate once we have it.....

Edit: The vid was shared by Forever Versatile, but it belonged to someone else. Can't quite recall the name unfortunately.

One thing I don't like about this gif is how Lebron just lets curry make that pass to green without even trying to intercept it.
