NBA 2K16 News Post

2K has just revealed the first NBA 2K16 digital short, titled Stephen Curry: Beyond the Shadows. The video showcases some of the first looks at NBA 2K16 gameplay.

The video chronicles the inspiring history of NBA superstar and cover athlete Steph Curry’s rise to dominance. Narrated by Spike Lee, the montage of gameplay and true life footage showcases Curry’s journey from being drafting by the Golden State Warriors to winning the 2014-15 NBA Championship.

This video is the first in a three part series focusing on the life story of NBA 2K16’s cover athletes, complementing this year’s #BeTheStory MyCAREER narrative.

We snipped out all of the NBA 2K16 footage from the video here, if you want to take a look.

NBA 2K16 will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC on September 29. If you pre-order at participating North American retail and online vendors, you get it on September 25, along with in-game bonuses.

I thought the agenda posting was a no go. Cause it's pretty clear what's going on with some of this stuff.

But I see your point but I can understand both sides. Waiting also could build a lot of anticipation and hype and also speculation about things that's not true about the game. When they do finally release something, a lot of people are disappointed because of the hype built up.. Not saying 2K is anything like this but look how Joe Montana football turned out making people wait it turned into a lot of different things and people were very disappointed.

I wish 2K would release more information but most people do because we're all interested in the game. But, I don't even complain about it. When the news come, it comes. Because I know 9/10, I am going to buy 2K regardless and the only time I regretted it was 2K12.

I am sure we'll get most of the information before the game is released. And even if it's not the info you wanted, just rent it and see if it's worth your purchase. I know it's hard because we love 2K. Especially how excited I am for this years 2K with the return of Crew, MyCareer, online leagues, and hopefully an improved association mode. Will feel like 2K11 again where I am playing all types of modes.

I just hate when 2K make announcements for announcements lol.
Damn you're right it was Eddie Murphy. It's been so long since I've seen the stand up that I completed forgot.

I completely agree about the announcements for announcements. Id much rather 2k say nothing at all so that when info drops it is a surprise and we can enjoy it for what it is. When they tell us "we have something coming monday". Everyone gets their hopes up. Is it gameplay? Gameplay info? My League info? I surprise feature or mode? Oh never mind just a minute in a half video with 5 seconds of gameplay that people will do sect like a science experiment.

Nothing was innovative about 2K14 or 15. At all. I'm a gameplay guy and it was the same game on both consoles. I actually like the PS3 2Ks better. Same will probably be said for 2k16.

If it impresses you cool. If you can point on what was innovative. That's cool too.

I'm here because I'm a member on the forum not because I'm wishing 2k is gonna drop some new bomb on us because it's clear they're not.

Their marketing has nothing to do with me being in here right now. This isn't even their forums lol smh. But of course you're right. Nobody can say you're wrong. You know everything. 2k is the greatest bball game on the market. etc. etc.

You got it bruh. Just stop trolling me in multiple threads with pointless replies because you don't like my opinion. Thanks.

You know for all the negativity about lighting it looks like the jersey colors a more accurate. I can't remember if it was part of 2k15, it been awhile since I've played, but in the past I feel like the blue Warriors jersey would have that dark blue look to it. It would almost have a white glow to it. Not sure if anyone can pop up a comparison pic from last year.

I gotta leave just one more comment on this whole marketing topic. For all the talk about 2ks marketing has Live's really been any better? They released a trailer back in June and they've released screenshots more frequently but besides graphics have we actually seen much in terms of improvement? The game looks a lot better than last year don't get me wrong and I'm excited to see how much the game has improved but it's not like their marketing has me ready to buy their game at this point. To me the teams for both games still have plenty to show off if they want to prove that their game is the one to buy this year (or at least that both are worth buying).

I've had an issue (as has tons of people) with the lighting and player models going back to last year. It's not like I'm trolling. I see that they've done nothing to improve certain things, so of course I'll talk about it.

23 ripped on the lighting in this thread. He ripped on the shorts in this thread as well. He's ripped on the players' bodies in other thread. Yet nobody says anything about him. Why's that? Because they're afraid of the ban hammer? (hi 23!)

Look, I've said before that I enjoyed 2k15. Hell, I play that more than any other game. Maybe that's why I'm so critical of it...because it could/should be even better.

Maybe my standards are just too high.

I just knew 2K was going to find a way to still ruin his signature jumper EVEN after motion capturing him.

His release is a quick release. He's releasing the ball on his way down in this clip. Why is that so hard to capture lmao.

Everyone has different expectations for sure. Things like lighting and canamiations are definitely things I'd like to see improved but at the same time they don't necessarily ruin the experience for me either. The animation thing is particularly odd for me because sometimes I'll play and it will really bother me and other times I barely notice it.

As a fan I also don't know what goes into making these games. I know that fixing the animations is something that probably couldnt be done in one year and would basically require them to rebuild the game. However for lighting I don't know how easy or difficult it would be for them to fix the issue. Would changing the lighting mess with colors or frame rate? Is it something that would hinder the development process? Is it something that could improve with a patch?

I'm not saying I'll accept whatever 2k releases, and sorry if I come off that way, but I also know 2k can't address every single issue in one year and make the perfect game everyone wants. As long as improvements are made I'm usually pleased. IMO something like animations have been improved over the years. Is it perfect? No but go back and play a game from a few years ago and I bet it is very noticeable.

But at the end of the day the criticism, complaing, bitching, whining, crying or whatever you call it will eventually strike a cord with developers if there is enough people complaining. I remember people complaining about things like shoes and I'd be like "dude really? I don't even notice what's on their feet. They could be barefoot for all I know" yet there was a community of people that were big on shoes and 2k, over the years, has done work to make sure this aspect of the game is addressed. It won't happen over night and it might not happen in the next release but if enough people are vocal eventually 2K will take notice.

I work all day and miss this post...
27 pages later and everyone's losing their mind.
(insert joker meme here)

Seriously tho, 2K's marketing is pretty bad.

Why? Because no one's preordering the game based off any of these "trailers". Maybe the ProAm news..but still.

People have the game preordered because they know 2K is gonna bring the same graphics and gameplay that they always do; and they know it's gonna be the best basketball game on the market.

Their previous game markets the new game. The other basketball title markets 2K for them by being a worse game. The fans market the game by talking so much. The youtubers market the game by releasing vids with a million views talking about new features....

But these trailers and making us wait until a month before release to talk about the game isn't good marketing...it's a good strategy but not good marketing lol

Isn't it obvious? They show less and less core gameplay videos over the years because there's far less to talk about. We're getting diminishing returns in terms of gameplay improvements. It was noticeable starting from 2K13.

Why on earth would you waste money on marketing when the data proves that you don't need to, at all?

Everyone 'complaining' is still going to buy the game, most are going to enjoy said game immensely. Like 24th is saying, it's the same thing every single year, same catchphrases, same nonsense. 2K didn't this, 2K didn't that. Lol, Stop.

I don't even care about these trailers, I know when September 25th comes, I'll be playing this game. That's all there is to it, and it's the same story for most of you complaining. Why put yourself through this?

That being said, I wish there was more gameplay in the video, but I'm sure I'll get more than enough in a month...
But 2k still hasn't put alternates in my player so i can still say they don't care

I have only been underwhelmed from that point on. The graphics fidelity, lighting, emotion, have taken steps backwards and once I got a taste of those graphics there was just no going back for me. If you think I'm making this up, search James Harden 2k14 and compare him to the recently released 2k16 screenshot.

The way they bring out info for this game is fine. But their focus is 90% on all the fluffy teenager stuff that makes them money. It's like this game is being made for 10 year old kids who purchase myteam coins and not the true sim heads. Oh but there's Da_Czar and Mike Wang and all the other guys who are in this for us! That's what you say, I feel their muzzle has been tightened and their interaction is way down. Instead of seeing more gameplay content because they're happy to show it off, it's like they do it now just to satisfy the few old heads still around making up the final 10% of their marketing campaign.

I cringe just thinking about the annoying 2k stream with Ronnie where they play exclusively in the park and talk about hair styles and clothing options. I loath the days when Gold pack this and Silver Pack that, Rare Edition here, rare edition there, are focal point in their discussions.

I just want my grassroots contender NBA 2K back. Fame has made my favorite game turn into a gold digger. No longer is she the cute innocent summer fling, now she's the used up, cakeface lady strutting her stuff all over Broadway.
My player hasn't been good since 2k11....so that charisma and passion been gone fam

Hey guys, let's get back on topic real quick lol...

I hope what they showed in this trailer is just exclusive to Steph...

Like that hunched over thing after he shot, taking out the mouthpiece. I mean Lebron and Harden have some exclusive animations off the top of my head too.

I don't wanna see everyone celebrating like last year.
Quiet dudes like Duncan and Kawhi are running up the court getting hype when that's not their style.

Looks the another generic hesitation into crossover...but who knows maybe there'll be more dribble moves.

Also no scoreboard or presentation overlays so maybe just maybe they've brought in an actual network to do it. TNT or NBATV who knows..

I also find it ironic where they're talking about getting over your height...yet everyone's a 7'3 point guard but that's none of my business tho. Maybe it means there's actually gonna be rewards for being shorter/disadvantages to being huge.
