NBA 2K16 News Post

2K has just revealed the first NBA 2K16 digital short, titled Stephen Curry: Beyond the Shadows. The video showcases some of the first looks at NBA 2K16 gameplay.

The video chronicles the inspiring history of NBA superstar and cover athlete Steph Curry’s rise to dominance. Narrated by Spike Lee, the montage of gameplay and true life footage showcases Curry’s journey from being drafting by the Golden State Warriors to winning the 2014-15 NBA Championship.

This video is the first in a three part series focusing on the life story of NBA 2K16’s cover athletes, complementing this year’s #BeTheStory MyCAREER narrative.

We snipped out all of the NBA 2K16 footage from the video here, if you want to take a look.

NBA 2K16 will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC on September 29. If you pre-order at participating North American retail and online vendors, you get it on September 25, along with in-game bonuses.

I mentioned it before. but they now have ball tracking and obviously signs now judging from the Steph Curry screenshot. My biggest thing is will they react accurately, will they sound better, and do they finally have more animations to stand out from one another. We won't know any of that until full gameplay vids are released.

I have a feeling the gameplay will "wow" us. I am just patiently waiting.

Have a feeling this will be one of the best and balanced 2Ks since 11. Can't wait to see a momentous trailer or something.

It's like you guys don't even have to try and impress us anymore. I miss the Ben Wallace trash talking in your face commercials. I miss NBA 2k having that raw edge. Now the whole environment is just power cream soft stuff. Even the environment in this forum is way weaker. I used to remember getting excited to jump on the forums and see what was up. Now it's just disappointment and shorter thread pages.

Just seeing a whole crew of 30 guys with state of the art cameras hanging around Spike Lee and the Lululemon ping pong ball dudes crushes my heart. This game has gone Hollywood. You can't say that doesn't affect gameplay because it's still a video game and the universe is connected. I don't want or need any of that. Even if it was the best mode or storyline ever, just the thought that NBA 2K has turned into this alternate reality Hollywood reality TV show storyline campaign crushes my heart. The whole vibe of this game has gone soft, catering to the masses. Sure, it makes you guys money, but it also gives me the impression that the NBA 2K I knew and played since 2k5 is long gone.

Maaan,i just wanna play a solid basketball game without the flashy glitter or balloons. I don't need to be anything. Especially not a story.

Don't even get me started on 2ktv as well. Something nobody asked for and definitely something people really don't care about. I want to feel like I'm playing a video game. This weird mixture of live action only further removes me from the video game world and I start to notice anything that isn't lifelike. I know it sounds weird, but I can't be the only one.

For me, 2k's marketing tactics border on the annoying. So much so that when something impressive actually does get revealed, I'm already out of that optimal hype zone. I feel sorry for you Da_Czar and all the other gameplay guys. You're second fiddle now to all the other fluffy material they push out for a few solid months to generate pre-orders. Your opportunity to market the game has been diminished, cast away, sent into the basement of the NBA 2k headquarters in California.

I really don't think it's an age thing either. Sure, I'm in my late 20s now, but I can honestly say my 17 year old self wouldn't have been excited after watching this "Beyond the Shadows" over produced over hyped disappointment of a video.

Does anyone else miss written content? Info you could actually sink your teeth into? I know I do! Paragraphs and paragraphs of in depth breakdowns of all the improvements and changes to the game. I don't need an edited produced video with Spike Lee. Just give me a few paragraphs, some screenshots, and I'll be just chilling back here like "Cool. Real cool."

We will share info when it's time. Just take comfort in the fact that it's 3 in the morning and we're still in the office making the game better. I'm sure you guys would prefer our time be spent doing that than hanging out in the forums and Twitter.

I hope you know the majority of us old heads on here do. The minority may be the loudest (or post the most) at times...but most us understand that every thing has a place and a process.

There's definitely crowd "ball tracking" which is a welcome and long awaited addition. If you observe the pics and videos even further you see other small additions...more cameramen on the baseline (finally!), along with white towels for the players (both are great touches) and also ushers in the stands. For all the complaining I hope you guys at 2K know some of us notice the "little things" you put in the game.

OK, can we stop acting as if this fans reacting to just one lackluster trailer? People are talking about trends from 2k that has become increasingly prevalent for the last three or four years. Even I mentioned it was either 2k12 or 2k13 when they started releasing minimal gameplay info or media. And there are people seeing through this and voicing their displeasure.

I hate that I can tell that the next line of defense for this marketing tactic is people going, "Stop being so entitled. 2K doesn't need to release gameplay vids or info to you. Just buy it or don't."

So was Mike Wang a PR move as well? He was a member of OS before getting hired....I mean PR move as you would call it...

Why is everyone bent out of shape about the lack of gameplay footage. 2K does this literally every year.

They give us very little to no footage/information of the game till about 2-3 weeks before launch.

haha. i know. people get so panicked when they don't get gameplay footage and think 2k is trying to "hide" the game. haha. 2k never lets us down. every year people freak out and think 2k is trying to hide footage because the the game is flawed in some way - then they release footage and it looks great as usual.

nba 2k is not going to drastically change from year to to year - that's how they've built such a great game over time - slow incremental improvements...removing the things that don't work and improving the things that do work. it's a simple concept, but a lot of companies struggle to grasp that concept - they make too many drastic changes and end up breaking the game rather than improving it.

I hope spike lee doesn't narrate mycareer, he has one annoying voice. Where's morgan "God" freeman when you need him?

Imagine if 2K came out today and released all the information on the game plus gameplay. That would leave 6 weeks and 3 days of an agonizing wait til release.

As much as I really want to see stuff or even read about the modes, I take comfort knowing there's much time left. If it was September 24th with no info, the yea pre-order cancelled loool.

I wasn't following 2k back then but i would say no, the newer guys they hire are only to appease, like bedsworthy i'm not doubting him but you mean to tell me 2k had no idea how to make rosters somewhat like him? C'mon dude y'all drink the 2k kool aid too much at times

I can't speak for everyone. If 2k16 plays like 2k15 after patch 4. I'll stick to Madden this year. If you keep accepting the "this is what 2k does" theory they'll keep doing it. If a company can ask consumers to pre order, It would seem fair to see more than 7 seconds of gameplay for the game your buying.

He was at High Voltage w Inside Drive and posted on here. If I look hard enough, I could probably find me 3-4 page dissertations that I sent him post release of each Inside Drive. Lol. He's always listened to the community.

As someone who plays a wide variety of video games I'm well aware of this, and I'm not saying I wouldn't like to see something, particularly by this time.

Heck I check facebook, twitter, instagram, youtube and here pretty much every day hoping some info came out, and I do get a little annoyed when I see nothing.

However my point is that SOME people need to relax a little as in my opinion, it's really not even that deep.
