I'm obviously disappointed at the lack of content for this game, but after reading the impressions, I can tell that my 7-year old son and I will have plenty of fun with this one. I've never been as good at these golf games as most, so I'm not real worried about shooting crazy good scores every round. I'm also putting some faith in EA Sports to release occasional DLC courses to freshen things up a bit. As long as the 9 real courses and a couple of the fantasy courses are in career mode, that will keep things a little fresh at least.

I'm looking forward to picking this up tomorrow morning, and I hope I don't regret it. I'm sure I'll get plenty out of it though, and if not, it'll be going back to Gamestop in a month or so. Haha.

TGC is one of the easiest Golf games I have ever played. No challenge tee to green and if it were not for a bug in the putting engine, I would be averaging 12-14 under in every round. Just goes to show that there are different levels of ability and different tastes in Golf games. TGC is a really good game at what it does. RM is lacking content and polish you would expect from a $60 game.

If you had to choose one or the other, which one?

For example, I hit a bad approach shot on a green with a good amount of elevation...the ball IMO should have rolled off the green due to the undulation but it doesnt....Also when I play a Links course I like to hit low punch shots to try and make it more realistic. However, the ball just bounces a few times and then stops. Anybody out there figure out how to deal with this?
Go to a Play Now game and add Fast or Fastest greens. Part of what you are seeing is related to your ball trajectory. The more power you get on your drives and shots will directly impact the roll or lack thereof in your shots.

I have both. Needless to say that I am playing RM exclusively right now as it is "new", it plays much more challenging than TGC to me and TGC has just released an update that has broken the left analog stick swing on the Xbox, and I don't know if MS will let them deploy a hotifx and if not, they are going to have some PO'd users for the next month or so......

Have you ever watched a PGA TOUR telecast on TV? LOL....

I hope they add a feature to allow me to turn off the ridiculous celebrations. I just did the walking man on the green after sinking a 2 foot par putt. If I could have reached through my television and kicked my virtual players ***, I would have! Completely out of place. Robot and Walking man I've seen so far............jeez, so help me if my guy busts out the cabbage patch, them I'm out!

they should have celebrations tied to gameplay style...arcade could have the walking man and robot...classic could have a slight fist pump and or tip of the cap and tour could have no celebrations.

Really? Well I suck at it I guess! lol

Seriously contemplating exchanging RM for TGC CE...and using the extra $ on a preorder of something else.

Per EA Forums,

No timetable on update per Handward.

Twitter Question to Hands:

hey Hands , any idea when the plans post launch will be discussed ?

Handsward's response:

No timetable for info release yet. Hopefully we will have our first piece of news sooner than later.

Played the whole ten hours access and now have 5 or 6 more hours n post launch...

The more I play the more I am enjoying it.. I have all settings custom to the hardest and with the timing getting better on full swings thanks to the tempo thread here... I am really feeling the golf on the course. The short game requires more finesses in the tempo whereas full swing requires forward flick. Turning manual shot shaping on, also makes it much more difficult to set up and execute your shots. Yes, game is bare bones but presentation and feel wise I have already played this more in one sitting than I was ever able to on TGC which bored me after a little while.

If you're looking for old TW it's not here. If you're looking for a fun challenge and immersive golf on course it's here.

One thing I appreciate is the feedback and xp earnings. Every well executed shot gives you some feedback. I always adjust trajectory and distance manually before each shot and it feels very much like I am in control.

Honestly it took me this long to figure out how best to play for me. There are soo many ways to adjust the gameplay to your own style.

Yes, but I'm not golfing during the broadcast.

is the ball loft really backwards like some are reporting? ie when you want higher trajectory you put the cursor on the ball higher?

can they patch that?

# 75 hort22 @ 07/14/15 03:08 PM
also on iron shots do you really just adjust your yardage and swing...isnt there any in between club distances?

On the fence ref purchase. Got screwed on nhl15 and this golf seems to be on same channel...

Been on TGC. They brought out new driving difficulty this week. Makes it very difficult to hit your own fairway. Went -3 on this weeks tour however leader was about -45....

Sounds like EA should be able to make hitting straight more difficult if TGC could do it.

I'll wait a week or so for all the impressions to sort themselves out. I'll kick my own azz if I buy another EA dud!

Trying to figure this out too. But when I select flop, the cursor goes to the top of the ball but when I select punch the cursor goes to the bottom. Seems completely backwards, well, is completely backwards

This release is very, very similar to the NHL 15 release in terms of removed features.

It is bass ackwards in the game, I hope they recognize this is counter-intuitive and fix it in a patch!
