Madden NFL 16 News Post

EA Sports has just posted their Madden NFL 16 presentation details. Madden fans will see "On the Field" cameras, which really get close to the action, during their biggest moments. Whether that be touchdowns, sacks or trash talking. They have also added a new Wirecam, which is similar to a broadcast Wirecam, but much better, since it is positioned right next to the QB.

Improving the crowds was one of the many improvements for Living Worlds. You will see crowd props, including rally towels for the stadiums that feature them, fan signs, foam fingers and female fans in the game. Crowd signs will be team specific, and you will see fans head track the action on the field. The stadium atmosphere has been improved with team specific chants and fight songs.

Everyone in the crowd and on the sidelines will wear official apparel from the NFL shop. This includes jackets, long sleeves, winter hats, and other weather-appropriate gear. Speaking of weather-appropriate gear, you won't see any members of the media wearing shorts or kneeling in the snow this year, you will see them in their appropriate colored media vests.

The Steadicam operator cameraman will be seen in various places during the game. He will actually come out on the field and get an ISO closeup shot after touchdowns. Some of the post play action shots will be seen from his vantage point.

Post-play behaviors continues to get a huge push with more signature celebrations and related content, as well as the addition of opposing team post-play interactions. There was a big focus on cleaning up behavior after the play, including pile avoidance, how players decelerate, and how/when they react with one another. The team also added new animations for when players are frustrated with whomever is on the other side of the line.

All-new “Drive Starters” add more context and storytelling to our commentary this year. Drive Starters take place on each change of possession, and provide storytelling commentary and visuals to highlight key performances and game trends. With more than 200 unique story types and hundreds of commentary improvements, Drive Starters tell the story of a game like never before.

On the audio side, the team went to great lengths to ensure Madden NFL 16 is the best-sounding game in franchise history. The return of EA Trax allowed us to implement several new events to play in stadiums during games, and new IR Reverb tech gives each stadium a whole new feel.

So you guys would only be happy if they completely over-hauled their current presentation system? You won't buy a game unless they have multiple commentary teams, broadcast networks, a full halftime show, and live in-game updates?

I'm not sure you all understand how much time, and how difficult it would be to put all of that in you a single cycle lol.

I'm fine with what they did. I was expecting pretty much this, but was hoping with the crowd emphasis, that they'd add in real-time fan reaction and crowd noise at key points. But you can't always get what you want.

This blog keeps my excitement level at an 8/10. That normally goes up to about 9/10 when the early release is availavle, and a 35/10 when the download finishes.

You all watched the e3 gameplay, did you think they'd have an all new presentation system in the beta or final version? You thought the Alpha meant they're still holding back a lot of features?

While it is not a gamebreaker, it would be cool to see that implemented again.
It's a console limitation. I don't know all of the particulars though.

The music (or EA TRAX) sounds like it'll be implemented the same way as last year: only in the stadiums and NOT in the main menus, which would be really disappointing and not really a new feature.

"We added crowd props to the game, which include rally towels (in stadiums that feature them), fan signs and foam fingers." No, you brought them back. We use to be able to create A fan wth those props. Overall, the blog was nothing exciting imo. A lot of gameplay reveled this

With the buildup of this blog, I actually thought maybe the team had overhauled the whole presentation of Madden and did what most have been asking for years, a true representation of an actual NFL broadcast.
Instead it's fictional cameras instead of for example Sony did years ago a give stadium specific authentic camera angles.
No mention of a pregame/halftime/postgame show.
Floating stat overlays instead of just more of a representation of ones really used by the networks that broadcast the games.
In game stat ticker giving me updates of other current games happening in my franchise?
Highlights from those games. A feature Madden had over 20 years ago in the game.
Instead I'm reading about foam fingers and signs.
Look I'm happy you are excited about this game. I wish I could be too. But these features don't get me excited and makes me think I should just hang onto 15 for another year. Maybe with further blogs and videos I will go out and buy. Just disappointed.

I don't buy this. NCAA Football had fully customizable stadium sounds too. It's just a low priority more than likely.

This quote concerns me though. I'd rather they kept it realistic and not have camera angles that could only be taken if the camera man was right next to the QB.

I for sure understand this concern but, I'm kind of coming around to liking the idea of beyond broadcast. I know it's currently not possible to have these angles but, if it was I'm sure TV broadcasts would use them.

At one time the camera that is on the field wasn't possible so maybe someday they will be able to have technology to get a camera in places that aren't possible now.

Absolutely love the presentation improvements especially with the fans and the on-field cameras.

Lol. What build up? All they said was a blog was coming. Just like all the other blogs they have done.

Also who said I was "excited about this game"?

I was justing wondering what you thought it was going to be and why you were so disappointed.

Everything is pretty much what I exected.

Is NCAA on the PS4 or X1? No it's not...go read the MLB The Show Forum. It has something to with the HDD of the systems.

really underwhelming, but didn't expect much more then that

This years game will be hit or miss based on the execution of all the new gameplay stuff

# 32 Hassan Darkside @ 07/09/15 04:41 PM
All in all I'm happy they spent some time improving the presentation and some of the more minor things, but my disappointment lies in the feeling that Madden is constantly playing catchup. It's easy to be content but hard to be excited when features are brought up to a standard that was set years back by other sports games.

Sidenote, I'm giving EA the benefit of the doubt that these presentation things were squared away after the alpha build that was at E3, because the first thing I thought of was the cameramen's reaction (or lack thereof) to this OBJ TD.

I wish they would focus on realism and add more things that you see on an actual broadcast. Plus a ticker and highlights from other games. That's what I want. Other stuff is just filler to me.

While I know this would never happen I would love for them to go after the local radio crews for each team. I wouldn't care if they gave you a code for one and sold the rest as DLC. Then you have the option of hearing your own teams crew or the home teams crew. i.e. Playing Greenbay on the road as the Bears and I listen to their local team.

I can't phantom the cost for something like that but didn't they have extra boradcast teams in FIFA at once point as DLC?

i love how they say they dont want to use popups cause they are distracting yet whenever i see those floating stat bubbles in all the gameplay videos its just as distracting, maybe worse. and sticks out like a sore thumb cause you don't see that kind of presentation in real life.

I would love something like this. And I would pay a couple of bucks for something like this.

I could see CBS stealing the idea down the road though. while it isn't something you see every week on an actual broadcast, it doesn't strike me as outlandish.

the blog didn't really delve into anything, i mean just from the videos we've seen we already knew about most of this stuff.

id really like to hear about the commentary improvements, halftime show improvements and things like that. those are things we haven't seen yet.

# 38 SageInfinite @ 07/09/15 04:51 PM
I hate when EA does this beyond broadcast ****. Nobody asks for that. Perfect what they do in real life first. Can you give us that first? Other than that I like the sound of the improvements, but once again, have to see how they play out in the retail. None of this stuff is ever as good as they make it sound in these blogs.

This was probably the most underwhelming blog, but they did address things we were asking for, and added alot of things we didn't. Hope it pays off for them.

There's no mention of HDD issues. There's a mention of the PS4 mp3 playback issue (which didn't the firmware update fix that recently?).

Regardless, if there's two cop-out words I hate to hear these days, it's "console limitation." With the way technology is these days, there should be very few barriers to innovation.

# 40 BadAssHskr @ 07/09/15 04:54 PM
called “Monoliths.”

I know some are a dissapoint, i keep getting more excited about the game actually. These all look like pretty solid additions to me, be it if it's 2015 or not.

Should add quite a bit to the game experience.

Pumped to see what the IR Reverb does as far as in stadium sound's concerned.
