Madden NFL 16 News Post

EA Sports has just posted their Madden NFL 16 presentation details. Madden fans will see "On the Field" cameras, which really get close to the action, during their biggest moments. Whether that be touchdowns, sacks or trash talking. They have also added a new Wirecam, which is similar to a broadcast Wirecam, but much better, since it is positioned right next to the QB.

Improving the crowds was one of the many improvements for Living Worlds. You will see crowd props, including rally towels for the stadiums that feature them, fan signs, foam fingers and female fans in the game. Crowd signs will be team specific, and you will see fans head track the action on the field. The stadium atmosphere has been improved with team specific chants and fight songs.

Everyone in the crowd and on the sidelines will wear official apparel from the NFL shop. This includes jackets, long sleeves, winter hats, and other weather-appropriate gear. Speaking of weather-appropriate gear, you won't see any members of the media wearing shorts or kneeling in the snow this year, you will see them in their appropriate colored media vests.

The Steadicam operator cameraman will be seen in various places during the game. He will actually come out on the field and get an ISO closeup shot after touchdowns. Some of the post play action shots will be seen from his vantage point.

Post-play behaviors continues to get a huge push with more signature celebrations and related content, as well as the addition of opposing team post-play interactions. There was a big focus on cleaning up behavior after the play, including pile avoidance, how players decelerate, and how/when they react with one another. The team also added new animations for when players are frustrated with whomever is on the other side of the line.

All-new “Drive Starters” add more context and storytelling to our commentary this year. Drive Starters take place on each change of possession, and provide storytelling commentary and visuals to highlight key performances and game trends. With more than 200 unique story types and hundreds of commentary improvements, Drive Starters tell the story of a game like never before.

On the audio side, the team went to great lengths to ensure Madden NFL 16 is the best-sounding game in franchise history. The return of EA Trax allowed us to implement several new events to play in stadiums during games, and new IR Reverb tech gives each stadium a whole new feel.

And yes I expect most of those. They've all been in games before. They should be in them now. And better. Yes I understand they have one dev cycle. But they've also had ten years to get a better half time show then 2k5z and they havent. They've had one then scraped it. Now another and didn't do anything to it the next year.

Even nba live had a nice ESPN package for a half time show.

Why would I raise my expectations? So I can be bitter and upset everytime EA doesn't put exactly what I want in the game?

I want all of those things as much as anyone else. I also want a half-time show, live updates from around the league via ticker/breaks, I'd love for them to add Fox, NBC Sunday Night Football, CBS.... I have yet to say otherwise.

However, I know what to expect from Madden, and understand that they're going to fix what makes them money, and add very little to entice the sim community. Because they know that hardcore Madden guys will buy year after year. Where they need to spark the interest if casuals.

This is what happens when one developer has exclusive rights to all of the NFL. There's no competition, there's no "one-upping" there's little innovation. They added a new game mode that is built for casuals, actually two, before they could perfect Franchise Mode. MUT and Draft Champions. Three if you want to count this Gauntlet stuff.

They've chosen their market. So I should higher my expectations and be let down year over year KNOWING that all my imagination and great ideas won't be in the game?

Maybe you should lower your expectations, because you've yet to be proven otherwise.

Its like being a Jaguars fan, expecting them to win the Superbowl for the past 5 and future 5 years.... You would love it, you want it, but its it's just not happening.

Now if you're a Seahawks, Patriots, Steelers, Packers fan... You're expectations would be reasonable, but guess what, you're a Jaguars fan.

Yea that's what I meant. And TBH I have no idea I got an X1. So maybe they did fix the MP3 playback issue and if they did then there is no reason not to have custom sounds.

I'm an X1 user, I think it was in a recent update so I'm guessing even if they wanted to, they didn't have time to.

It's not a cop-out if the console manufacturer flat-out does not include the ability for a game developer to do something in their hardware, or worse flat-out locks the ability away from the user and/or developer for security reasons. For example, I don't think the XBOX One even allows ripping of music CDs to the hard drive yet.

It sucks - I loved custom sounds in older games as much as anyone - but it is what it is. If we want this functionality back we need to bark at Sony and Microsoft first before barking at EA.

Overall, it's what I expected. Good to hear about stadium sound improvements and the living worlds.

Only thing that scares me,is the close up camera angles as I feel you can't see as much of the play developing when the camera is zoomed in close . I hope there is replays that will be from a broadcast camera angles.

Yea that's what the devs said the update happened too close to release in order to get it in the game.

Hoping this means we will here them talk about the superbowl winners and losers. Plus the player that won the MVP of the superbowl. Just hope they went deep this year.

I don't know if these were in M15 but things I did notice were the "beast" chant for Lynch on longer runs, and when you get a first down in Atlanta it plays that screeching eagle sound or whatever it is. I'm sure there are a lot more, I was told they went after sounds for all 32 teams, but may not have gotten all if their rights secured.

Maybe misunderstanding you, but it sounds like you don't want as many replays. If that's the case I respectfully disagree. As I would love to see a replay after every play if it doesn't slow down the game.

The only way they would be able to do it without slowing down overall game length is change the playcall screen around. Someone posted a great idea in another thread with the playbooks on the side and the middle used for cut-scenes and replays. Would love to see that.

I don't recall the "Beast" chant last year. Of the blog the stadium sounds are the most exciting. I just hope they are a lot louder than before as I could barely hear the "In-Com-Plete" chant in Denver.

Also been to M&T Bank Stadium quite a bit and hope they added the "moving the chains" sound.

Solid, nothing spectactular or wow me though. I still have Madden 15...and whether or not I get 16 or not depends on if I can package 15 in a deal with a store to get 16 at a much lower price. I know there were some good deals last year in that regard...so we shall see. I am a big presentations guy.

I loved, loved, LOVED the old college hoops 2k games with their wrap up shows and the NCAA Tourney selection show. For its time, I thought it was a great presentation addition. I am a big Kentucky fan so I miss college hoops like I do NCAA Football. Madden has done some great things over the years presentation wise...I enjoyed the cheesy radio show with Bruno way back in the day. I like the newspapers for the home teams...I like the twitter stuff and social media...whatever makes it immersive.

I'll probably play 15 some in the next month+ and see what I think going forward. I get both sides on those that like what they read, and the ones who are disappointed.

I have to learn to respect the effort that these guys put in.....

Again...I just wish there was more transparency on what is possible and what isn't. It's literally 365 days of hoping to see a feature that you have no idea if you'll EVER see.

I'd rather see replays from other games

Hopefully the near future for replays from other games.

Since I don't play using broadcast angle, I love seeing the replays from that angle.

Its true. Neither the PS4 or Xbox 1 allow ingame custom sounds at this point.

In addition to what CM Hooe said, the NFL themselves also have give EA some limitations on making Madden. It included ambulances, freewheeling owner mode (creating logos and customizing uniforms), and dynamic attendance (was in Madden 11).

Here's the article that I'm talking about.

Just my opinion, but you have to look at the total package this year and you will see the effort. Obviously folks weren't extremely happy with CFM blog and this one seems to be getting a neutral reaction, but Gameplay seems like a huge improvement.

Like all the presentation improvements but I wish they would've upgraded the sideline player models. I want sideline players to resemble their on field counterpart meaning they should have on field accessories, correct sock length, & names on back of jerseys. Hopefully next year this gets done because it's a huge immersion killer having generic sideline player models.

I agree. last night I was playing all pro football 2k8 for the first time in years. I ran outside with my halfback Emmit Smith and he got pushed out of bounds and ended up trucking Roger Staubach on the sideline. thought that was pretty cool.

This times 10 this is one of the single most annoying things in Madden

I am disappointed they didn't talk about halftime, we know from the E3 videos they at least added the wider replay angles, I'd like to hear more about what they did because they were still working on it last thine I played.
