Madden NFL 16 News Post

EA Sports has just released Madden NFL 16 Connected Franchise details. Players can choose between offline and cloud saves. With cloud saves, you can advance weeks faster and access the league online and invite friends. The blog details confidence tuning, free practice, combine stats, scouting and much more.

Below are some of the new details in Madden NFL 16 Connected Franchise, click here to read the entire blog.

DYNAMIC DRIVE GOALS
Each new drive contains a Drive Goal that can be completed for bonus XP and/or Confidence.

Specific goals are tailored based on events in the current game to give players a unique challenge each and every game.

Dynamic Drive Goals truly influence the way you play. The more goals you complete, the faster your players improve.

POST-PLAY GOAL FEEDBACK
The team listened to fan feedback and made it easier for players to see which goals have been completed in-game. This year, players will now see goal feedback throughout the mode.

XP and Confidence updates appear next to your player at the end of each play. A new ticker at the bottom of the screen tracks goal progress and shows updates to all the goals influenced that play.

Players will also notice new broadcast interface elements that celebrate completing goals. This adds up to a groundbreaking broadcast experience for Connected Franchise.

WEEKLY GOALS
Weekly goals have been refactored from the ground up by implementing a new quest-like system that chains goals together week to week. These goals are assigned based on performance, position, and career status and are both team-based and individual.

For example, a “Breakout Running Back” goal may be triggered for rookie running backs that are having a great season.

As goals are completed or missed, player confidence will fluctuate. Some focus on negative stats such as fumbles and interceptions, and are tied to regression.

GOAL LOADING SCREENS
New goal loading screens allow players to maximize goal completion. Completing these goals during the game will give you additional XP and/or Confidence that helps players perform better on the field.

THINGS TO DO
The Connected Franchise Hub is more streamlined, and players can find what they need faster than ever.

It all starts on the consolidated Things to Do screen, which brings all the information from last year’s Actions and Home to one convenient location. Players can see where they stand in the season timeline, and how far they are from the Playoffs.

VISUAL TEAM DEPTH CHART
One major overhaul this year is the all-new Visual Team Depth Chart, which allows players to easily see each side of the ball and make adjustments.

Your depth chart is the heart and soul of your team, which is why we brought it to the forefront with the Team Panel. Simply drag and drop players to reorder the depth chart.

PLAYER CARD
Another big improvement is the new Player Card, which gives players an attribute breakdown without having to scroll left or right on a spreadsheet. This screen includes all the key position attributes for the player, and which attributes are being affected by Confidence.

Quickly perform key actions such as spending XP, viewing goals, adding to the trade block, and more.

NEW SCOUTING
Scouting has been reworked from the ground up in Madden NFL 16. Coaches and Owners will see a “Thing to Do” item in Week 3 that instructs how to Scout. The basic concept is that you’ll spend Scouting Points on a player, learn more about their abilities, and decide whether you want to select them in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Scouting Points unlock a player’s top three attributes, with the third unlock providing their true draft value. This true draft value will help teams find “Diamonds” and “Overvalued” players in the draft class.

Will you take a projected fifth-round pick with second-round skills in round two, or wait until later hoping that others don’t realize his potential? These are the types of decisions that come to life with the new true talent rating.

COMBINE STATS
Players can now access Combine Reports during NFL Combine Week, which includes a Combine Grade and results from six Combine events: 40-yard Dash, Vertical Jump, Broad Jump, 3 Cone, 20-yard Shuttle, and Bench Press. These results can be seen without spending any Scouting Points.

Combine Reports not only include results, but also how players stack up compared to others at their position. Will you draft the fastest running back in the class, or look for a well-rounded player?

DRAFT FEEDBACK
The Draft screen itself has received a visual overhaul, and now provides much-needed feedback right after selecting a player. You’ll immediately be able to see the player’s attributes and where he was ranked, which provides immediate feedback on whether or not you made a good pick.

MEMBERS LIST
New Members panels allow players to quickly interact with fellow league members in a Cloud Franchise. You can see their game status and whether they’re online.

Commissioners can toggle Auto Pilot, clear cap penalties, and remove them from the league.

SIM-A-WIN
League commissioners can influence wins by using the League Schedule. Sim-a-Win allows you to set the winning team for any game that has not been played.

This tool allows players to craft the season of their dreams, and also helps facilitate large multiplayer leagues.

FREE PRACTICE
Players voiced a desire to practice with their Franchise team, so the team went ahead and added Free Practice to Game Prep this year.

Coaches or Owners can take their team on the field to experiment by using Free Practice. When Game Prep is available during the week, Free Practice can also be used at no additional cost.

Free Practice is a great way to a look at how a team plays, and lets players stay ahead of the curve.

CONFIDENCE TUNING
Confidence has been greatly tuned in Madden NFL 16. We’ve decreased the amount that confidence changes for every player, and also adjusted the ratings per position that can go up or down, and how confidence impacts them.

A new Game Prep activity has been added to the preseason, which allows teams to improve their low confidence before the season begins. We’ve also increased the amount of time each team has in Game Prep every week.

OWNER MODE FINANCE TUNING
Small-market teams in older stadiums now have more money to spend into the offseason every year.

They may not be Saints in the realm of video games but they've done a lot many people don't know or pay attention too.

Anyways I'm simply saying to keep it respectful and that will be heard a lot more than the opposite.
Speaking of this they had one button controls for disabled gamers. They need to bring this back.

As for CFM nothing substantial has really been added. Its just been tweaks and New menus. I think most people are disappointed that the mode hasn't seen a substantial upgrade. The player aspect of it is lacking so much. Its pretty much just a player lock. It doesn't feel special and it's been rehashed for years how ps2 franchise mode was amazing. Years of baby steps and missteps set us back so many years. I'll take anything new added but its just underwhelming when it still needs so much love.

You certainly have a point, but it's just built up anger and frustration after years of paying money for in my opinion the last ten years a sub par product. Especially since they are capable of delivering a way better product as they have proved in the past but consistently seem not to do so. This is the ps4, during the PS2 they were way more innovative than they are now. Has my language been a little harsh, yes but like I said it stems from built up anger and frustration of an extremely dedicated Madden fan for over 15 years.

Oh we all share the frustration I asure you.
Been too long BUT I had fun with 15 even with the flaws.. and hope M16 gets a step better and we see improvements each year.

Doesn't change the fact though it's been way to long since real improvements were implemented.
Nothing we can do about that though. Here's to hoping the future gets better and better.

Quite simply, the Franchise/CCM mode comprise the bread and butter dedicated customer base of this franchise and we have been neglected for a while. The game play has certainly improved, this is without question. However, it's the presentation and features in the CCM mode that keep a player dedicated, that keep them infatuated with a game. The attention to detail, the attention to realism, the attention to make the game more then just about the game play (which like I said has certainly improved very, very nicely over the years) but it's about more than that. It's a total package, and the Franchise/CCM mode has been the part of the package that has lacked the most and that's the most disappointing.

Eh. given that context I don't see how you can act we are getting so little this cycle. The player card, scouting and draft weaks are pretty significant improvements to the quality of life for a franchise player. The way they're discarded I think some need to go and try and do all the things the consolidated player card will do for you now in one place that before were split among multiple locations in the UI. From how easy it is to compare stats (no more endlessly scrolling to the right!) and being able to perform any of the actions (half of which lived in the depth chart it seemed, the other somewhat arbitrarily in the largely redundant 'roster' section) is pretty awesome.

The other improvements are huge too... team needs have for a long time been split off into it's own screen away from any other context, now we can easily see that along w/ rankings of remaining players at each position as we're drafting. The (welcomed, imo) simplified scouting and doing away with banking a season's worth of scouting points... and that's all just off the top of my head. These changes let us get back to actually playing the game after being able to quickly and efficiently manage and grow your team.

I'll need to see the scouting and draft for myself to know if it's an improvement or not. The Player Card is nice, however I can't show them too much love on that until I know if we can view attributes during Free Agency. If we can't, then I'm going to be really disappointed.

Of course, all of this is for nought if progression, confidence, draft class ratings and contracts aren't fixed.

# 247 EricFreakingBerry @ 06/05/15 12:19 PM
I like some of these tweaks, but we are still missing some things. I enjoy how they have reworked the draft/scouting, and the combine stats are fantastic.

Still seem to be missing:

Restricted FA's
DRAFT CLASSES, DRAFT CLASSES, DRAFT CLASSES
Edit Players in CFM
Practice Squads
Sim Sliders for statistics (if the sim engine sucks again)
Better situational depth chart management and specialists, not just visual overhauls.

I really hope they did some work to the sim engine this year. I also hope they brought back the team the player played for on the career stats page. If not I'll be a bit upset about that.

I'm not saying that these improvements won't be beneficial. They will, but I'm saying the level of innovation is greatly lacking. These improvements aren't up to the level that the technology PS4 presents. I mean a re worked player card is nothing to brag about as one of the top new features in CCM/Owner mode. Completely custom stadium design would be something (which they had 10 years ago) or instead of bragging about Free Practice, you can have Free Practice as well as completely upgrading your practice facilities with visuals. This re enforces the importance of one the latter improvements with financials for small market teams and this is just off the top. I mean there are so many different directions to go and they seem to do the bare minimum. Football is by far my favorite sport. Madden used to be my favorite game. It was light years ahead of the other sports sim franchises. It was cutting edge. They had Newspaper articles, they had a Radio Show, they had Complete Coaching staffs that offered benefits with real coaches, they had custom Stadium design with details, they had a great training camp progression system with drills, and they took ALL of these Great FEATURES out of the game. So since the end of the PS2, Madden has progressively fallen behind the 2K series and The Show. It's disappointing and it's not because of the game play it's because of the lack of innovation with the Presentation and the CCM/Owner modes.

I know that CFM players and us stat geeks and sim freaks are in the minority. And we absolutely positively get under the skin of a large portion of the fanbase who plays online exclusively or (ugh) MUT modes with our constant wishlists and gripes.

But for as long as football is my favorite sport, each year that Madden puts out a product (last year was my first year purchasing in 3 years) that I feel is not up to specs I will raise my voice around this time every year in the hope that it will eventually be heard.

Like GaspipeGorgeous said, Madden used to be innovative and by the era of the PS4 I never in a million years thought we'd still be unable to edit our players the way 2K allows us to, unable to edit or create our own draft classes (especially after the crumbling of the NCAA games), not have complete coaching staffs, practice squads, a good sim engine, realistic contract options/compensatory picks, or better situational team structuring for style and process.

Look, I am never ever going to apologize on here for being the kind of gamer I am. I enjoy *playing* Madden football games, but the LOVE of sports games for me comes from becoming immersed in the franchise. I want things to feel pretty real, have some measure of control that EA puts in my hands for how my league/team functions even when I SIM the game versus when I play it.

So I am excited for some of these announced features, once again it has the *sound* of "heading into the right direction." However, I am ready for us to be at our destination now on year 3 of the PS4 era. I can't apologize for that.

There was so much wrong with Madden, but those features were at the heart of it. Please don't bring back that stuff.
You're missing the point. Yes the game play wasn't nearly up to the quality that it is today back then. But with the advent of new technology the game play has steadily progressed to being a stellar product. Back then the technology wasn't capable of the game play animations that we see today. But now the game play is way better and the features and presentation aren't and that "Fluff" is what made Madden consistently the best sports sim back in the day of any sports genre. So I really don't get your point.

Something I think should be looked at is resigning your own players in free agency. I signed my backup qb in free agency and he has 0 confidence for not knowing the playbook but yet he was there the year before. Its a small thing but hopefully it'll be fixed.

After reading I think the hole goal thingy is really gettin blown up I don't really care about goals at all in the game just focus on the important things to make madden 16 better the previous please EA!!!!

Thanks to the sim a win feature I'm able to finally create a CFM where the standings will look exactly like they do in real life. I'd like to see a Playoff mode eventually, but at least this way I can easily simulate along with the real NFL and have the same teams in the Playoffs once January rolls around. It's been very difficult just to get the same teams in the Super Bowl as real life, much less the Playoff teams in past years.

Pretty sure it's too late to get any of it into madden 16.

The list is tough to look at. Seeing so many things that could be in tbe game or that were in the game and are now gone.

I would of liked to see the list this same time as last year. And see how has it changed or where something was ranked that was added to the game.
