MLB 14 The Show News Post

Sony Computer Entertainment America has scheduled the MLB 14 The Show online servers to close on June 18, 2015 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita systems. The game was released just over a year ago for PlayStation 4 users on May 6, 2014, while it released on April 1, 2014 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita users.

For those of you that are curious, SCEA terminated the MLB 13 The Show servers on November 6, 2014.

MLB 15 The Show is scheduled to release on March 31st.

Last updated February 13 2015, and for all we know it could just be the UK/EU servers. Still a bit shady though, I would expect the servers to stay up for at least 2 years.

Be honest 14 servers are awful and those few that play online will be on 15 here in two weeks

Wow. Really stupid. I'm getting 15 as well but what if people have a good online franchise going and are still rocking mlb 14? Bad move.

I haven't even attempted an online game in The Show since 12.

Must be truly awful if they are taking them down so fast. Don't think I have seen a company pull online support that quick, ever.

Pretty shady decision this no matter how bad they are. Its basically forcing people to buy the new game.

Why is this a shady decision? Why should they keep supporting an old game when there is a new one out? Pretty smart if you ask me, you force people to go out and get the new game.

I never bought a game because I was forced to.

So i'm guessing that the Show 15 servers will be shut down a year from now.

Maybe als to give the'15 servers more breathing room idk.

This is normal for SCEA to do this. Last year I believe it was August and the year before that I think it was MAY.

I don't think it is them forcing you to get new title if that was the case at launch of new game the previous title servers would go down then.

This is nothing new, they always shut down the previous years online servers down at some point.

They shut down MLB 13 in November of 2014. This one is being shut down 5 months sooner! What a joke!

I understand some folks will be upset because they are still relying on MLB 14 online functionality. But there is a trade-off. The way I understand it, MLB 14 servers are kind of a joke. I'm guessing the majority of users would rather see Sony San Diego put their time, resources, and especially money into supporting the MLB 15 servers to make them as improved as possible.

Granted, in the grand scheme, the cost of keeping a couple MLB 14 servers online for a few more months may not be that much.

I am in an Online Franchise. We will still be in the middle of our season by then.

I've always found it funny that EA gets the most flack over server shutdowns, yet 2K, and Sony have both been shutting their sports game servers much quicker than EA ever has.

Last week servers were awful, thinking some testing was being done behind the scenes and this week game has played best it has all year!!! Coincidence with MLB15 approaching?? Sure hope they have figured out some of the online issues and putting 14 to bed earlier will stabilize 15 servers. Still convinced that MLB14 PS4 servers were also being bogged down with MLB14 PS3 servers.

If you ask me that's way to quick. 2k is another one that shut there servers down at an alarmingly quick rate. Give credit to EA, their servers are up for a heck of a long time before they shut em down.
