EA SPORTS Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR sounds better than any golf game before it, thanks to all-new commentary from Frank Nobilo and Rich Lerner of Golf Channel. Frank and Rich will bring both playful banter and historical references to the broadcast booth, just like fans hear on tour.

Outdoor environments are Frostbite 3’s specialty, making it the perfect fit for golf. The power of the engine allows us to include the little things to create denser environments. From pinecones to butterflies – the game feels more alive than ever before. Thanks to Frostbite 3, the traditional (and infamous) 30-seconds-per-hole load times are gone, and entire courses now load at once. Trade-in time saved (est. 10–15 minutes per 18-hole round) to cut full rounds in half.

Wolf Creek and TPC Sawgrass have been revealed, with more courses expected to be shown in the near future. The team also plans to release the entire roster in the coming weeks as well.

Why not offer 100 or 300 and continue to do so? It costs time and money.

If they're offering the same number or more than previous titles but also offering additional, that take time to make, and people want to buy them, so what.

You're still getting a $60 title without them so what's the problem?

100 or 300? Where in the world did I suggest that????

If the bar is 20 courses I think that's a little low especially if some of those courses are battleship laced courses.

I buy a football game or a baseball game and get 30 plus stadiums....

I understand that a lot more goes into a single course than what goes into a single stadium but I don't feel it to be unrealistic to ask for a season that has a different course for each event....

I'm all for having a realistic conversation if you want but please lay off the hyperbole (100-300 courses?????).

You imply by stating why charge for courses at all. Why not make the game free? (jokes, I'm just kidding )

Okay, hyperbole aside, I understand and to a degree, agree with you. I was merely pointing out to the other poster that we still get a $60 title with DLC on top. The bar isn't 20 courses, I was just using the previous games as a base for the argument as those had no DLC. Most of us would argue that it wasn't enough back then either.

So overall, I'm not arguing with you. I merely wanted to point out that DLC did not replace what we were already receiving. It just added extra to those who wanted it I guess.

Completely agree, I actually don't have a problem with them selling DLC as it's my choice to decide if I want to pay for other courses or not (which I never have).

My largest point of contention with courses and DLC was that it seemed like I needed to buy DLC in order to make a base function (career mode) play as it should.

I can't remember if they changed it in the latest version but when I was playing this game heavily before losing interest the season would have many events played at the same courses (I understand there are some events played at the same course IRL, but not as many as in the game).

In the versions I remember even if I payed for a course as DLC I couldn't add it as a course in an event in my career which was the only mode I ever played.

I'm not against DLC in general since it's my choice, but I never felt the base mode really had enough to justify charging extra for courses.

If they were to fill an entire calendar with unique courses you would never hear a peep from me about additional courses as DLC since I realize that unlike TGC these course cost EA money to recreate.

I completely agree. Let's hope that is fixed in this next gen version at least.

Not a fan of Rory but just hoping for a solid game experience.

Game looks good, and just maybe my worries of it being arcade like because of that stupid battleship crashing into a golf course when they 1st showed it might not be much of a worry. Looks like it might actually be a true simulation of golf, I sure hope it is, but I also know EA isn't always all that honest, so I will play wait and see. But I do hope its a true simulation of golf with all the real golfers in the game, and all the real courses.

I don't think you read a word I wrote because I literally said exactly that several times.

The biggest letdown is the fact EA is involved. Arcade golf and micro transactions. I highly doubt this will change. Ever.

I'm a huge golf guy. That said, The Golf Club keeps me interested enough in it that I doubt I'll get this.

That's the main reason. The other reason is, well, EA.

All I want is to be able to choose a current pro and play a full PGA season. Every other sports game you can choose you favorite team and play either a season or career (franchise). Why not in PGA Tour? How fun would Madden be if you could only create a fictional team?

# 52 poster @ 03/19/15 09:19 AM
I'll follow the news and hope there is a much improved career mode. I'm really itching to play a current golf game career mode. I love what Perfect Golf is doing, but with no career mode, it's hard to find an incentive to play and stay interested. Just know it is going to be a long while before that comes, if it comes at all.

Seems the Golf Club's upcoming career mode is more of an online competition mode instead of the regular type of career mode I am interested in, so this game could be my last hope for a while, ha ha.

Just want a mode that I can play on my time that represents everything about the pga tour. Based on past games, I am not hopeful, but hoping the two year break has helped, although I know they have a small team.

100% agree. Anyone ever raise this question to the developers?

The follow cam is the worst thing to happen to golf games. It indicates a fundamental misunderstanding of the game of golf. Golf at a high level is about the course. The course is the story. Not the golfer and not the ball. Making the ball literally the center of focus does nothing but rips me out of the game.

Well said CL.

Do people not realize tw14 had a broadcast camera?

The biggest part of this announcement for me is that they dropped the number. They could be setting this up as a semi-regular, non-annual franchise like Fight Night used to be (or like EA UFC could be, depending on their plans). That would be for the better.

screenshots look nice

however I absolutely HATE they have TPC Scottsdale as a pre order bonus. Why take a course that has been in the game and a favorite for as long as i can remember and make it a DLC pretty much

Thats EA for you, surprised it wasnt Pebble Beach
