MLB 15 The Show News Post

MLB 15 The Show is available now to pre-order on the PlayStation Store. Both the Standard ($59.99) and Anniversary Edition ($69.99) are available. Gamers will be able to start the download process before the actual release date, so they can start playing at midnight on March 31st.

There were unforseen technical issues last year that delayed the official release until later in the day, hopefully things go much better this year.

They are identical. Disc games are installed to the HDD as are digital games. Digital downloads however might be compressed and may be a smaller download vs data on blurays, but after installation they should be identical.

I still don't get the perks of digital games. It is nice you get it right away and you can pre-download. Maybe it is just not for me.

1. You can't trade it in later if you beat it or the next version comes out with sports games (no resale value).
2. I am pretty sure they take up more space on the hard drive.
3. I personally like the old school aspect of a physical copy of a game, and picking a game up at a game store.

What do you guys like about the digital copies besides the accessibility?

When I get done with a game I can usually just get 10 dollars for trading it in so it's not really that big of a deal for me. Going digital or physical they will both take up the same amount of space on your HDD. I have started just buying digital since I can pre-load the entire game and play right at midnight.

With sports games you don't get much back. But it is nice to be able to throw that 10 bucks towards the new version. For Far Cry 4 I beat it and got my first platinum trophy with it and traded it back for 44 bucks and put it towards the Show. Haha.

Hard drive space is incorrect on this generation of consoles. Physical, digital - it's all the same now.

I don't trade in games, so its resale value means absolutely, 100% nothing to me. Combine that with the convenience of digital and my choice is easy.

MLB is the ONLY game I order digital sports games are good to order digital because like you mentioned become out of date the next year you can erase them from the HDD and just put the new version up

I NEVER trade games, I just find EB Gamestop Etc are really ripping people off doing it and people fall for it, it can be a few years later and I will feel like playing a PS ONE game which I still own some of them that are about 20 years old and still work, so I am also saving money there keeping things instead of SOny released Final Fantasy VII for every dam generation and people paying for it every time

I do prefer a hard copy it's great for the OCD mind, however it does take up more storage in your house and have to find more room for it.
Good point about people getting the game from other countries around the world. I didn't really think of that.

meanwhile a few years later you will kick yourself that you traded the game because you feel like playing it again, and then might pick up another 2nd hand copy for about $20.

This is why I never trade games, I can understand getting rid of sports games though, they are games that become out of date in about 8 months and lose the appeal factor.
Unless you are like me and never play a game more than once. Same with movies. I already know what happens so unless its one of the best games ever there is no point in playing it again.

I'm really indecisive on whether I should pick up a physical copy or digitally download it. I'm a die hard Giants fan and don't really want anything Dodgers (especially Puig) in my room, so I'm leaning more towards digital download. Just afraid of having problems where you can't play the game if PSN is all down and can't read my credentials. Anyone knows if that has been fixed? Nothing worse then getting off work and looking forward to playing a game only to learn you can't because the service is messed up

As long as your PS4 is set as your primary console, you'll have no problems playing games with or without connecting to PSN.

Nope was up a few days before release and a few days after I had pre ordered the us version.think it was available a few days after the US release when the store updated on thursday(game released tues). Worked out about the same price what with the aus $ back then.

With no physical/retail release of the game in Aus hope they can keep it at a good price again. Also hope we can get the 10th anny version and that pre order ds4 skin.

edit:yep EB are a rip off but most games are easy to find around $60-70 at other retailers. I think if sony didn't need to play nice with retailers we would see digital games around $70 instead of The $100 most are now.

Most story based games I can understand but movies? Do you also not eat food you've already tried before?

Come on, man! Haha

Trade in has no value and the convenience of not having to change disks is big when you play multiple games a day.
I have x1 and PS4 so on Xbox being able to just say go to madden go to 2k go to halo and not getting up to insert a disk is nice as well on PS4 only having to hit the home button and not go input a new disk.

Then the being able to play at midnight is a small bonus and it saves a drawer in my room that now isn't filled with game cases.

Also the space taken up is the same so number 2 is completely inaccurate.

I'm old school I guess, I have to have the actual game! Lol. I don't mind getting up and putting in a new one. Sometimes I wish I still had my ps2, loved the hp games!

Considering the size of 14, I think you'll be closer if you double that.

Yeah, I get you. I couldn't point to an actual number with any more certainty than anyone else here. I was just adding what I think might be a more accurate estimation given what we've seen (The Show 14 was around 42GB, I believe, and other sports games seem to hover in that 40-50GB range as well...Yikes!).

Either way, the previous poster's reference to it being a "monster" isn't too far off, I guess...lol.

40GB isnt a monster. For the overly lucky people like me anyway. The sooner Google takes over the ISP world completely the better life will be.
