MLB 15 The Show News Post

More MLB 15 The Show details have been revealed by Target. They also have a special pre-order price of $39.99 for PlayStation 4 gamers, but many are getting errors when trying to get it at that price, (thanks for the heads up Gleebo)!

Some of the new details that have been revealed on their product page include a new New Human IK Engine, new Tag System, revamped commentary, overhauled Franchise mode and more.

For the first time, partnerships with real-world equipment brands will bring MLB-accurate bats, gloves, shoes, and batting gloves to the game. Customize your Road to The Show player in the best gear from the sport’s best brands.

It’s not just the gear that’s more authentic this year. Players and teams also have more unique personalities and styles plus a wide array of emotional reactions to all the heartbreak and triumph on the field.

And that field will be more action-packed with new animations, a new tag system, and completely new Human IK engine. In 2015, playing the field will be as exciting as stepping up to the plate.

MLB 15 The Show also features major graphical improvements. Enhanced stadium lighting, Improved gloss and specular, resulting in more natural lighting on players. Seasonal day/night transitions have also been added into the world of The Show.

And the improvements aren’t all animations and graphics. The game itself has gotten deeper with more ways to play, earn rewards, and put together a Hall of Fame career.

Best of all, Universal rewards will mean that all of that gameplay earns Stubs that can be spent on licensed equipment, Road to The Show improvements, and virtual baseball cards. We’re introducing 30 Iconic MLB Alumni into our virtual player card pool, 1 representative for each team. These players span every historic baseball era of the last 70 years. Like all of our Universal Rewards, you have a chance of finding a historic virtual player card to add to your collection and utilize throughout MLB 15 The Show.

Make yourself a legend and never start your career or season over again. With Year-to-Year saves, users will be able to continue their Road to The Show players and Franchises from MLB 14 The Show into MLB 15 The show, and into future releases.“

All of that is only scratching the surface of how MLB 15 The Show is ready to prove that Baseball Is Better. Revamped commentary, improved load times, and an overhauled franchise mode are also on-deck to help make the 10th edition of The Show the best one yet.

I hope they get the sim engine and player progression/regression under control. Stats get really weird later in a Chise and the progression and regression of players can be much at times.

Overhauled franchise is most important IMO. Many of us have been screaming about lack of stat tracking and a reworked franchise mode for years, without the slightest of acknowledgment.

I'll wait to see what the well needed "overhaul" means to development before any praise is given.

I wanted Tiger Stadium in the game.

I'm getting concerned about this as well, especially in light of the fact that retractable roofs have been pushed back year after year after year. I realize that there are more features to be announced, but retractable roofs are one thing I would've expected to have been announced if they were going to be included. They would be in line with the other graphical improvements to the game.

Hopefully the inclusion of retractable roofs will be announced soon. Their absence for another year would be completely unacceptable.

I wonder if the tag system is anything like I've suggested once. It was basically as follows;

Tagging is mapped to a button, say R1. When you're at a base, tap R1 for a swipe-tag. You'll have to time it right, but the tag will go straight down to wherever the guy is sliding. Otherwise, hold down the tag to keep your glove down, but you'll have to manually swivel left or right to get somebody hook sliding.

I did not have a system in place for tagging somebody in a rundown.

It could probably work the same. Just R1 to reach out and tag.

What I mean though is risk-reward for tapping versus holding. For example, in a rundown the ball might be in your hand, so tapping it will make your player tag with the ball so you can still be moving quickly and be ready to throw if needed (but would need to be timed again), while holding R1 means a transition into the glove where a timing mechanism isn't needed but now you couldn't get the ball out or you might be moving more slowly.

By the way, loving what I'm hearing so far! I have a feeling that Puig trailer has very little of the things we are going to be looking forward to!

If they don't at least have an option to play with a closed roof in Toronto then I'm sitting this year out and waiting for 2016. I still have a season going with 13 so I'll stick with that as long as this is ignored.

So with the statement that we'll get the most gameplay additions ever will we finally get to call or call off the cut-off man after the throw!? I have a good feeling about it this year

I have no idea if roofs will be included but it seems early to panic. SCEA have only announced a handful of things officially. All this stuff we just learned about human IK engine, new tag system and revamped franchise was leaked by target. So at this point SCEA really isn't making any announcements. We'll hear a lot more in January and February. After that I'm sure we'll know the status of retractable roofs.

You think the tag system is user inputted? I was thinking of it as a cleaned up system that automatically applied the appropriate types of tags depending on the situation.

All of this information definitely has me excited for MLB '15. It definitely needs improvements over what felt like, to me anyway, a port of MLB '14 from PS3 to PS4 with more polished graphics.

I don't understand this. If MLB the Show 15 turns out to be the best they have to offer at this point ( better than all previous editions) then how could a open/closed roof make you pass? I think it would be cool if Rogers Center could close but a make or break?

I just dont understand it really.

That could never be a deal breaker for me, mostly because I love baseball too much, but the biggest reason is I can't see if its closed or not!

I agree. What would make it a "pass" for me is if it looked like a port of the PS3 version. I doubt that is the case though and it will look beautiful.

I really hope the new IK engine and animations effect the pitching deliveries. A lot of the deliveries look fake and video-game-ish (yes, I know it's a game).

But realistic follow-throughs and just better-overall motion capture of animations would make the game a lot more realistic. And best of all, there's probably still time to accomplish this.

I haven't been able to get the $39.99 pre-order price... even after adding to the cart. Has anyone else had luck with this?

I think it was just a mistake by Target. Whoever got it for $40 was lucky.
