NBA 2K15 News Post

If you are having issues actually playing NBA 2K15 -- you are not alone. A casual glance at the 2K15 server status page looks like a giant down day on Wall Street with tons of red and orange flashing at you.

After last year's debacle, there is simply no excuse for a game launch going as poorly as the NBA 2K15 one has gone once again. Huge chunks of the game's experience have had issues even working since launch: MyTEAM, MyCAREER, The Park, the Jordan Rec Center -- just to name a few. If you are a single player guy who is interested in MyLEAGUE, that game mode is working fine at this time.

An issue which has reportedly been resolved dealt with players losing their face scans and player profile info as servers went down -- this is especially painful since the face scanning process is something which isn't exactly easy.

Granted, when things do get ironed out (if they do), the game plays great and by most marks is a well built title. But one has to ask why, after so much flak last year, is so much of the game's functionality (even in seemingly single player modes like MyCAREER) dependent upon servers which have never performed well historically?

For now, if you are a gamer who is on the fence about buying NBA 2K15, if you plan to play modes which need access to the 2K servers (most of them) it is probably a good idea to wait a bit to see if the problems clear up. You can see the status of the servers on 2K's website for reference.

This is another example of a company that is complacent and doesn't give a crap since there isn't any major competition. After the crappy start with 2k14 they should have learned the second time around...joke...

This sucks. It takes like 10 tries for connecting to servers...

it's funny because this isn't even the only issue, the face scan tutorial they put out was so ****, duped people into buying ps camera. The bonus codes are still received yet either.

The good news is I didn't use that pre-order code yet so hopefully that can set my copy of 2K apart from the rest when I put this thing on craigslist

I feel like everyone keeps expecting some sort of server magician to just come into 2k and fix everything.

EVERY server goes down and has issues. I can't think of a single sports game that doesn't, whether it be EA Servers, 2k Servers or whatever you'd like. I seriously doubt some revolutionary technology is gonna come around and fix that. They should allow you to keep MyPlayer, MyLeague, MyGM, etc.. all offline though. Whether it be cause people have crappy internet or the severs suck.

No I don't expect a magician.

I expect that when I pay $60 dollars for a game it actually works. I am fine with server maintenance here and there or if it crashes once in awhile, but this has been going on for years.

Somehow other gaming companies can figure out how to do it right...why can't 2K? And if they knew this was a nagging problem, why continue to make almost everything online dependent?

Seems like common sense to me

2K's servers have been shaky at best since the Sega Dreamcast...I was 13 when that came out. I'm 26 now...that's over a decade with less than par servers.

Then they tie save files to their servers...cause that's smart...

That alone is worth one hearty "what the earthly **** are y'all doing over there?"

Who's making these decisions?

5 platforms tied to servers with legacy issues of substandard performance.....WHY?

What's there to discuss? You're coping and pasting the same 3 messages over and over in different threads. You are taking this game way too seriously. It honestly is not healthy.

There actually is a good reason to have these modes tied to online. It's all the fault of My Player. Because people can cheat offline and then bring their players online 2K needs to keep track of VC to make sure there's no cheating.

or just make them two separate modes. So whatever people do offline...they can't bring it online.

Treat it like an online franchise.

Problem solved.

OS owes a responsibility to the general public to beat this issue into the ground.

There are times in life when you have to throw your hands up and cry and whine like a little girl and not stop complaining about it.

I've actually had no issues the past two days, and I have a notoriously bad internet.

The first night was awful, but since then, I've been good.

If you turned on your console, started 2K15, and were greeted with this:

Then your point is duly noted.

But if not, you might need to take a step back and realize that some folks are experiencing this same exact thing for the 2nd year in a row, where they spent money on & in a game, and it just vanishes.

If that's not the case, then you might wanna stop being that dude on an internet forum that's compelled to tell people what they can complain about, and how much they're permitted to do it.

I buy madden every year and 2k every year and cod every year. First lets begin with 2k.....

Servers are down roughly 30% of the time and whent hey are up they are fairly laggy.

Madden: Mut servers go down every once in a while for an hour. Game works perfectly fine day 1 and i experience minimal lag during online games

Cod: Can think of maybe 2-3 times in the last 5 years in which a cod server went down.

Im not sure what 2k does for their servers but it is obviously wrong because its the same thing every year. When compared to every online game I have ever played 2k servers are a joke. When there is a post about 2k doubling madden in sales and they cant even get their hands on somebody who knows how to build/maintain a half decent server that is downright embarrassing.

Every year i subject myself to buying this and there are never any improvements as an online gamer, in fact it just gets worse and worse.

Unfortunately due to the incompetence of 2K and their inability to have consistent servers for many seasons, I have requested and received a refund for my digital purchase and will not be taking part in playing the title until further notice. Lets hope Live comes through in 2.5 weeks.

You need to take a deep breath and re-read what I wrote and not what you think I wrote before your pointless rant.

I read it and assumed that you're saying that the issue needing to be beaten into the ground and people throwing their hands up and crying and whining like a "little girl" was sarcasm. Which it was.

And my "pointless rant" was about you being that internet forum guy who's always armed with sarcasm and brings nothing constructive to the conversation at hand.

But if you're saying you were serious about literally crying and whining like a little girl, by all means...you go ahead and do that.

Let's just go ahead and both agree to not respond to each other anymore.

Carry on.
