NHL 15 News Post

EA Sports has released another patch for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of NHL 15, bringing it up to version 1.03. Check out the details below.

The team will be releasing the following content update later this month.

Online Team Play
Online multiplayer mode where every player on the ice can be human controlled.

GM Draft
For the first time in the NHL franchise, you will be put on the clock and feel the pressure like real NHL GM’s. You will now only have 3 minutes to make a draft pick. If the pressure is too much, you can also call timeouts to extend the amount of time you have to make a draft pick or potentially negotiate a trade. You can make trades at any time during the draft. The CPU will also propose trades to each other and the user throughout the draft.

I cant wait for the next patch/tuner, the hitting is so off. Slight bumps send players flying. I feel like I'm playing Wayne Gretzyk 3d Hockey

This game is pretty much worthless to me with its online play now since this patch. The game is just brutal and nearly unplayable. It doesn't even resemble hockey!

All it is now is big hits and carry the puck as much as you can and hope for a bounce. There is no passing. No setting up plays or working the corners with a cycle. No dump and chase. The worst part is how the computer will play the game for some people. Making huge hits on you as they just camp in front of the net and take away any shot attempt you try and set up.

I've won about 90% of my games online so far after about two weeks of playing online and have jumped into the top 900 overall, but I am not even having fun now. Even winning feels like a waste of time.

Oof some games are good and fun. Others are just ridiculous now. The shots on net are even more lopsided than it was before. A.I also seems to score always within the first couple minutes of a game on some skate behind net and just one time it.

Does anyone else feel as if they've lost some control to their players? Feels more sluggish and still your players won't go for pucks on boards and will always just start whiffing at any rebounds in front of net unlike other teams A.I. Puck sticks to their sticks but not yours.

This whole thing is kind of a shame, imo. Not so long ago, NHL was generally held in pretty high regard by many sports gamers. Now, seems a great deal of that goodwill is a memory. Just as one example, imo, something like 'Berserk' mode has no place in a sports game programed in 2014. Where player ratings and commonsense gameplay are null in void at the ai's will. I mean even now, the base programing is so weak, it must rely on BS. Really hoped we would be beyond that by now.

Yes.. which is why I'm playing last gen NHL 15 for BeaGM, it's a totally different game. If they rebuilt this game for current gen, I have no idea what they were aiming for because it's more like watching a scripted movie to me.

After this fiasco, if I see on the cover of NHL 16 something like 'Sports Game of the Year, 26 Awards Won' B.S., you know they're lying!

# 168 Mrmagoo @ 10/07/14 03:49 PM
They will be lying whether that's on there or not!
It's all ea sports does is lie. I really can't believe some ppl still support them. Not meaning it as a rip but as a question to myself... It's hard to understand, that's all.

Here is an honest question because I really don't know. When they are producing these patches, do you figure they are just basing them off of the original tuners? The SHAM says he is getting great results going back to the original tuner which leads me to believe that they base the patch off of the original tuner. That would explain why playing with this patch and the new tuner may be causing some of the issues that it causes. What I do wonder though is that will the next tuner we get be based off of the game with the new patch installed.

Does that make sense to anyone else??

What I do know it wasnt the patch it was the tuner mainly but I never seen a tuner update like that EVER ! that totally changed almost every aspect of the game that was organic like puck and player physics .

That being said I still think the game physics wise still doesnt play the same on the V1:00 tuner after this latest patch the way it did on its release date back on 9-8 and as many have said it now has a scripted feel .

I mean we all know how EA NHL programs this game and alls Im saying is it wasnt noticeable when it first came out and now you can kinda see how things will unfold like in prior years and thats truly a shame as it cheapens the game and everything EA NHL 15 did so wonderfully Physics wise .

God. This game was decent a week ago and I was looking forward to playing Be a Gm. Only the penalties were completely broken, but the overall gameplay felt good.

Now it's wtf. Three games in a row (I kept restarting due to frustration) the CPU would win the faceoff and bum rush the goal score instantly. So scripted.

Or they hit boost mode and start ping ponging the puck around or catch you easily. Sure enough they score shortly thereafter and nothing you can do about it.

Sigh.

# 172 ParisB @ 10/07/14 09:57 PM
Oh yea, also the sliders seem to have no effect anymore. Game speed is at 0 but faster and jerkier than pre patch.

Had it happen many times now, where close fun games were freaking ruined by the super ai light switch, getting flipped on. Yep, i feel i'm just a bystander due this imo, cheap feeling BS. Watching the puck getting thrown around at 100 miles an hour, with absolute pinpoint accuracy , really ruins the experience. I don't mind losing, but not like that. And as far as your ai teammates during this, in my experience, your on your own, pal.

just flood Rammer34's twitter page, maybe he will get the idea that we are all pissed at buying a broken game for 69.99, i havent turned the game on in almost a week because of this.

/facepalm EA

Off the latest tuner correct ? if so its why I wouldnt waste my time on it even with the improved D around the net as its all boost mode and cpu goes in turbo mode all fuel by big hits and nerfing hu controls .

Its really cheap in this day and age especially since they improved the physics for 15 but why would anyone program those basic cheats as a challenge as their so blatant and visually poorly done .

Yeah normal good games for a while but they really went overboard in the last few minutes of the game dont you think ? all types of crazy boosted stuff

Or we realize that MANY more customers are not on this site.

OS is a minority. We always have been. We are the sim gamer. When it comes to sports gaming, there is always a balance between the sim and the casual gamer.

I really never understand why more people don't understand that. When it comes to the NHL series, the majority of it's fans are the same guys playing Nintendo Ice Hockey in Swingers. The devs have to cater to them, as well.

It's not all us, guys. Never has been, never will be.

FACT CHECK: It was actually NHL94 they were playing in Swingers.

I played a few games after the tuner and took I break since I was so disgusted. I had my fingers crossed, hoping it was just my imagination. I just played another one and it's confirmed. This game has turned into a cartoon.

What did the tuner do in my eyes? It turned my goalie and players into bumbling idiots(you know that kind that switch shifts in the middle of a rare breakout or let pucks crawl into the net while they flail about)and the CPU goalie won't let anything in unless it's some unsatisfying BS tip in. CPU players hit relentlessly from the face-off and are able to knock you down if they hit your glove just right. They can also hyper pass the puck across back and forth across the rink! Then play a game of hyper pong at the front of your net! The shooter can retrieve his own rebound among at least four of your players, maybe all five! I've been attacked by three defenders when in the offensive zone and STILL can't get a pass off to my open men. The CPU probably can go without a goalie!

Don't even get me started on the CPU hyper clearing the puck on the PK. My gosh this game, what a disaster!!!

Oh, and I love how my players love to jump offside when I'm simply taking the puck STRAIGHT across the blue line a required minimum of 5 times per game. Good job EA, so realistic! Oh I also love how I can handle the puck in the offensive zone while avoiding the heavy attack of a couple CPU defenders, all while my other 4 skaters take an afternoon nap.

Is there a way I can change my offensive scheme from "afternoon nap" to be at the very least a "Sunday stroll at the park"?

LOL! I'm glad you caught that.
It was a test and you passed. You should feel good about that.
