It's a bug. This isn't a fix as much as it is a workaround, but here: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...oing-away.html

The AI basically has two ways that they will defend your rushes:

1) Sit back and do nothing.

2) Charge at you full speed for a body check.

The first way just results in an easy entry. The second way is very easy to skate around or deke around, and it will give you a free breakaway/odd-man chance. Note that the second tendency is also exclusive to the PS4/Xbox One versions. The AI always sits back when defending the rush on the PS3/Xbox 360.

What is still needed, is for the AI to gradually close the gap as you approach the blue line, and funnel you towards the boards, so that you have nowhere to go but to dump the puck in by the time you reach the blue line.

If you play on hardcore and crank up CPU aggressiveness, CPU hitting power and CPU poke effectiveness, it's a lot harder to get into the middle of the ice. Also reduce Human Puck Control.

also if you max out AI Learning it will force you to gain the zone from different angles

Thank you.

I just played a game in Philadelphia, and there was this big black square on the ice. What the hell?

I don't catch a lot of Flyers games, but I know I've never seen them with a random big black square on the ice.

Anyone know what the deal is with that?

Sounds like a missing texture bug.

Yeah, idk, it was weird though. Here's a pic of it

# 288 bigwill33 @ 09/13/14 05:03 PM
That's definitely what it is. The texture didn't load correctly for the actual logo to be seen and the result is usually a black, or sometimes pink or green, box like that, which encompasses the entire surface area of the graphic.

It's a bug. Try loading it up again and see if it keeps happening. Was it online, play now, gm, etc?

# 289 gopher_guy @ 09/13/14 05:07 PM
It was in GM.

Would be tough for me to pinpoint the reason for it happening in this instance, but we can start a bugs and glitches thread and I would post it in there, if I were you, so that if anyone from EA ever looks they can use it as a reference.

After 10 games, we definitely more dirty goals.

Agreed on default but its much improved when you up certain sliders like Aggression and pass interception ect .

Tired of EA cheap AI, can't they make a sports game that makes it fun to lose? not frustrating because you know your going to loose within 5 minutes of starting the game?

wish 2K made NHL & NFL games again.
I feel your pain my brother as this game is horrible and arcadish out of the box and trust me its not easy but you gotta try to blend your skill level through sliders and for your problem I would even go down to Pro level and make the game tougher as that level takes away the cheap stuff we both seem to hate and makes it more slider based .

I did it the last few years with Playoff mode but on lower levels penalties get tricky but it might be better this year as Im testing a set now .

Given they didn't release next gen title last year it makes me wonder a little bit why they didn't have enough time to put out a finished product. Kinda reminds me of NBA Live but Live's gameplay was a disgrace while NHL gameplay is spot on with a good set of sliders
I also forgot to mention and if EA NHL decides to do anything with that great base ? as NHL 07 also had a great starting base then nothing for 3 years ?

Man its funny BD I was just hoping for some new goalie mask designs this year and some more real player faces as a wish and Im almost embarrassed looking back as jeez we didnt even get any modes in the final product

Agree to a degree but you also dont wanna turn it into NHL Hitz so blend it gently and let us know what you changed and does the cpu get more Penalties called on them now ? thanks

Has anyone seen a hat trick home celebration cutscene yet? I just scored a hat trick and on home ice and I noticed that the fans just celebrated like it was a normal goal.

In the Xbox 360 version, there is an old celebration scene where the home fans throw hats onto the ice.

Hats have been taking out on next gen. It's been confirmed by a few.

I think Pro level with tougher sliders is the way to go

I just had one of the best games ever this morning. Pitt (me) vs Florida. I won 3-2 in OT. Shot were 32-30 for me, I had 2 PP Florida had 4. TOA was 6:32 - 6:01 for me. Kunitz scored a weaker one in OT, but other than that the goals were pretty awesome.
I played the whole game on True Broadcast and other than sometimes not being able to see the ice where play was, and the fact I have never played on a side view before, it was awesome.

I just wish that when I had CPU Learning slider set that my CPU players would learn because it seemed all I kept having to do was cover the cross crease pass as they would just stand there.

Fun game though.

Im getting murdered on these passes. Im having to control every defender on a play just to keep them from wandering off.
