2K Sports announced yesterday that Kevin Durant will be 1 of 4 current NBA players with an overall rating above 90, in their new rating system. He will have an overall 95 rating.
Love reading the feedback, and predictions on who the other three 90+ players will be. I'm very excited as we start to release ratings to see the hard work put in to make the out of the box rosters better than ever for you guys. As Ronnie and Chris touched on with the live stream yesterday, I really wanted to put an emphasis on having players really "earn" their 2K rating and have a little bit of separation between great players, and that top tier of stars in the NBA.
More ratings will be released in the upcoming days in a couple of ways. As players tweet Ronnie, Chris, and the NBA2K handle their rating will be released. Also as more followers are gained by the NBA 2K handle, massive amounts of player ratings will be released, starting with the bottom up until we eventually the top 5 from each position are revealed.
I'll be dropping in to hear feedback throughout the process. Let the fun begin!
Good stuff man. Really happy that 2K will finally have really solid out of the box players's ratings. It used to hurt the game so much.
I believe it'll be LBJ (obviously), Kevin Love and Anthony Davis. Just based off the efficiency of these guys over the year.
I think for a PF to be above 90 they have to be really good offensively and defensively while getting boards. If Davis makes that jump by being versatile offensively in the post he will be a 90 by the year end.
Based on last season Kevin Love, KD, LeBron, Blake Griffin, Cp3 n Melo all deserve to 90. But they will probably only give it to KD, LeBron, Cp3 and Love
1. 97 LeBron best all around player no need to go into details here
2. 95 Durant, Second best player best scorer in the league
3. 92 CP3 League leader in steals per game and assist per game with way less turnovers than Curry, Westbrook. Probably the best pick and roll ball handler
4. 91 Melo most versatile scorer in the league, post, transition, iso and played PF for much of last season.
On the cusps high 88-89 or so
Curry: Elite best shooter in the league off the dribble spot up, transition, good passer but his defense is below average and he turns the ball over at a high clip. Not that great at finishing at the rim.
Westbrook: Elite athlete best finisher of all the pg's, elite speed, good defense turns the ball over a ton is streaky shooter and average at best jumper.
Blake: Dunks, passing ability and post game, improved jumper somewhat but still below average at anything outside of the paint. Average post defender and not a great rim protector/help defender
Dwight: Average postgame, great athlete, good rim protector, poor FT shooter or anything outside of the paint.
Lebron, Durant, CP3, Anthony Davis, Steph Curry, LaMarcus Aldrige (dont think I spelled his last name right), BLAKE GRIFFIN, and if you wanted to have Melo at 90, he should probably up there too. IF, and it'd be pretty inexcusable if not 2k has the roster sharing and editing ability in FULL, this is irrelevant.
AND KEVIN LOVE!!! WTH?? Kevin Love should be like a 92! Great passer, great outside shooter, can score inside, and the best rebounder in the league. And he isnt terrible on defense. He's okay.

Hey Beds, this is the 1st time official rosters got me hyped dude! can't wait to take a look at this year's tendencies!
Of course I won't tell you where the mistakes and overlooks were, mainly because you suffered them the same we did these last years, and you are the best they could have choosen to rework all that.
One of the things I'd love to see is realistic rookie ratings for the 1st time. You can't imagine how much I hated seeing all that amount of players (usually around 10 or so) who hadn't even played any game, rated in the 70s and even 80s!

Oh, and Russell Westbrook duh!
Only pick 3 players since there are a total of only 4
Love watching him play (in-market for the Knicks), but I think a 90 rating is a bit beyond him. One of the best handful of scorers in the league, though.
KD is already named, and you have to figure LeBron and CP3 are locks. That leaves one spot. Reasonably, I think it's one of two guys:
• Curry
• Westbrook
Love or Davis is a stretch, don't think it'll be either guy. Paul George is hurt, so he's likely out. Rose probably needs to prove himself before getting a 90+ rating again.
